Sleep?! But its Black Friday!

BTW I went to Old Navy and the line was too long so I just turned around and came home. Anybody actually stick it out and grab that game?

Our roommate's mom went, to try and snag one for him. They were giving the people in line tickets for the deal (a la Best Buy), and, after TWENTY tickets, announced they were out. I call Dick Move on this one.

Our roommate's mom went, to try and snag one for him. They were giving the people in line tickets for the deal (a la Best Buy), and, after TWENTY tickets, announced they were out. I call Dick Move on this one.

Our store had 50 . . . not sure why so few in the mom's case. Maybe that was just one console-worth. They had the games split among the 360, Wii, and PS3. If you got there after 2am or so (maybe earlier in some areas), you were probably SOL. My wife and I got there a little before 1am and were the 10th and 11th in line. Right before the store opened, they handed out bracelets for whatever console you wanted it for and then opened the doors at 3. Apparently not everyone read the fine print on the deal because there were plenty of people who didn't seem to realize that you needed a bracelet to get the game. We both got one - she got a Wii copy for a friend and I got the 360 for us. And as far as I know, my wife was the only employee crazy enough to wait in line.

Also, we went to the Wal-Mart in the tiny college town and got GTA IV for $10. We also got the $59 Tom Tom, and a few $2 DVDs (Die Hard, Young Frankenstein, and Blazing Saddles). So we made out pretty good this Black Friday.

Well I heard back from one of my friends that waited in the Old Navy line and they only had 20 copies. I also call total bs on Old Navy's part. What a rediculously low number (for the crowd that was there).

How is that Tom Tom MST? I saw it when it went live at Walmarts website... but I reluctantly passed on it.

Amazon.com has a "Cyber Monday" deal running right now, with lots and lots of discounted games.  I don't know if there were any better deals out there on Black Friday, but I know that you don't have to deal with "other people" when ordering online.  :)

Huh . . . that does suck if they only had 20 copies. Wonder why those stores got so few. The Tom Tom is a Christmas present for my wife, so we won't know what it's like until then. My wife is crazy about that kind of thing this time of year. If it's not food, it's a present, damn it. We were informed by a friend that it's a discontinued model, but as long as I can still update the map, for $59 who cares?

Currently, Microcenter is selling 3-month XBox Live cards for $9.99. Do the math; that's cheaper than even the 13-months-at-$49.99 deals.

I like the way you put quotes around "other people", as though you're not quite convinced that they really exist.

Okay, a bargain from toys r Us. Kinda.

From dec 4-6 ,  get a Xbox 360 Arcade for $99... when you buy other stuff too.

This other stuff includes:
* A gaming Ottoman ($49)
*An Energizer Battery recharger station. ($20)
*Either Need for Speed Shift or Dragon Age Origins ($60)
*One of these cheap games - Prince Caspian, PotC: At World's End, NHL 2k9 or Stranglehold
*Plus the arcade unit.

Total cost- $249.95

This basically boils down to "Buy an Arcade and Dragon Age and get some other free stuff" but some folks might greatly desire that gaming ottoman making it a good deal for them.
