Blowing some dust off the thread here...

Hmm.  Something's going on at Activision. But whatever it is, it's good for us.

Buy a copy of Guitar Hero 5 and get a free copy of GH: Van Halen via mail.

This seems to be valid at most major chains. Amazon and Gamestop already have the text on their websites and I imagine that others will follow suit shortly, since Activision is advertising a number of chains on their website.

And since I was planning on buying VH, but skipping GH5, this will probably change my plans as well.

Wow GH5 has a pretty good lineup. Nonetheless I'm too committed to RB store at this point... probably just get this game on the cheap down the road.

I picked up the trilogy when that was on sale for $5. I've played about as much as you. I dinked around a snowy maze for about a half hour and put it back on the shelf. Reading some reviews, I might not have given it enough of a fair chance..

You should try this game again.  You're only supposed to be out in the snow for about thirty seconds or so; once you're where you're supposed to be it becomes a kind-of-terrific survival horror/adventure hybrid.  The only thing wrong with it is the lousy stealth and combat mechanics.  I got a decent ways in before becoming sidetracked with other games, but I keep meaning to return to it.  The first one alone is more than worth the $5 you (and I) spent.

Saw that at GameStop, but honestly, I'd rather get Guitar Hero Metallica free. Not all that interested in GH:VH, really. Oh wait, Metallica doesn't do free . . .

And in the other music game camp:

Amazon's deal or the Day: Rock Band 2 with all the plastic instruments - $90. Good for the 360, PS3, or Wii version.

And the main gold box deal is Sims 3 for $30. If you're the type who can pull themselves out of the "Hardcore" mentality and enjoy a nice relaxing game of virtual dollhouse with your masculinity in tact (Where applicable), And/or if you liked the other Sims games, this one's worth the money. :^)

For the next week, gog.com has a buy one get one free sale on Interplay's old catalog, and their catelog is all $5.99, so you can grab the first 2 Fallouts (Complete with goodies like soundtracks and wallpapers) for 6 bucks. Earthworm Jim 1+2 is also worth picking up for the soundtracks alone. :^)

I knew they would have to drop the price if Sony and Microsoft dropped their prices.
