Favorite Monty Python sketches ever?
« on: March 09, 2009, 03:08:18 PM »
So many people seem to be Python fans around here, so I thought I'd ask, what are your favorite sketches from the epic Monty Python's Flying Circus?

I am at the moment a little obsessed with "Blackmail." Michael is the planet's best sleazy host. And the music gets stuck in my head. And it's such a brilliant idea for a TV show!

Now it's reminiscing time. What are your favorites?

+ Crunchy Frog! Collect the whole set!

I'd replace "Dead Parrot" with the Hollywood Bowl version of the "Dead Parrot" sketch. The timing is much better.

A lot of you mention the argument sketch is your favorite.  Let me just say, no it isn't.

One of my favorites never appeared on the show, though it's in the Hollywood Bowl: I think it's called the "Yorkshire Gentlemen," but it's the guys sitting around talking about how they each had it tough ("Oh, we used to DREAM of living in a corridor!").  Other than that:

Dennis Moore
Killer Sheep
The Bishop
Conrad Poohs and His Dancing Teeth (and on a related topic, Brian Islam and Brucie)
Deja Vu
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

Three words: "It's the Mind".

Or, if you prefer, two words: "Deja Vu".

My favorite tends to be whatever sketch I'm watching at the time.
Right now I would say "The Townswomens Guild Present: The Battle of Perl Harbor".
Also, The Lumberjack Song is just brilliant.

This should really be a List of Crap at some point.

"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

I also really love a skit they did for their Hollywood Bowl gig, where Cleese is lecturing on the ways to use cream pies as comedic props.  It's played beautifully straight, and has a superb final pieing of Cleese himself.

Funny, I prefer the show version because John is so funny and works so well with Terry. But I do prefer the live Hollywood Bowl nudge nudge to the show version.

Yeah, that's a more extreme version of my accent.  It's probably from around Devon/Cornwall way, basically the South West of the country.
