One thing still bugs me about the resolution to this movie...

OK. So there's only one male dragon. Fine. They kill it, no more baby dragons. Fine.

But the male dragon wasn't anyone's problem. It was the countless thousands of female dragons that were ravaging the great cities of the world and causing the whole dragon apocalypse. Sure they'll die one day (HOW many thousands of years have these things been sleeping?) but they're going to be just as much trouble and burn just as many tomato crops as they always had in the past in the meantime. If humanity's still on its last leg, it's not going to have any easier of a time fighting off the beasts. The only ending I can see is that the dragons finish off the human race, then die of starvation themselves when they've eaten all the people and tomato ash they can.

Did I miss something there?

OR.....they do what many reptilian species do, and one of the females undergoes a sex change to become male. This happens to some lizards, frogs, and even chickens if males aren't readily available. It seems illogical from a biological standpoint that a species that has only one male would not have a genetic backup plan in case said male is killed. IE: self fertilization, gender bending, self cloning, ect ect..). Talk about a plot hole the size of Montana.....

This happened in Jurassic Park, I am afraid to admit knowing.

What a stupid movie. Good rifftrax, though. But the stupidness made it difficult to enjoy at times.

It needed more McConaughey imitations. That was well done.

Wow,  Reign of Fire is about dragons? I have to watch it now.  I love dragons!

There are also some species of reptiles that will become parthenogenic/reproduce asexually when there are no males.  We have those at the zoo I worked for and it was part of my job to educate folks about their unique feature.  The females just make clones of themselves more or less.  Actually, some scientist believe that under increased stress, most if not all reptiles specials would able to reproduce asexually but they're not sure what it would take to cause it for all the species (it's probably an ability that has slowly been selected against throughout the eons because genetic diversity is best, of course).  I'm pretty sure dying out and having all your boys killed might be an adequate stressor though.  There have been reports and studies done on even some of the larger reptile specials reproducing asexually.

I assume real dragons could do it if Komodo dragons can  ;)

In an episode of MST3K (I don't remember which one currently) Crow contacts the nephew's uncle's friend of the drummer from Survivor (I don't remember it exactly, but you get the idea). This is after paying exorbitant lecture fees for Yakoff Smirnoff.

I believe that was the Russo-Finnish co-production "Jack Frost".

Janitor, yes, that is the one. They are contacting people to try to better understand Russian culture, I believe - hence contacting Yakoff Smirnoff. The drummer of Survivor was mentioned because "Eye of the Tiger" was a theme song for Rocky and in Rocky IV, Rocky Balboa faces off against a Russian boxer.

I wouldnt be surprised if the sex-change "plothole" was to allow for a sequel.

Upon second viewing, my favorite riffs are:

1. Any ladies in there wanna scale Mt. McMconaughey?

2. Mike and Kevin singing Surrender (I would walk 500 miles)

This is the last movie I paid to see at the theater that I felt completely ripped-off by.  The ads for this dog seemed to promise a movie about how dragons took over the world.  For me if there is one thing that is cooler than dinosaurs, it's dragons.  So I dragged my wife to see it with me because she is as big a dragon fan as I am.  Imagine my disappointment when the dragons taking over the world is a lousy montage and the film is all about a bunch of smelly, angry survivalists!  AAAArg.  I wanted to walk out, but sat there and took it.  There were some sweet, but short, shots of dragons, but not enough.  I was DELIGHTED when this turkey got it's just deserts.  It now is in my top five.  I've watched it twice and it's just as funny the second time around!  Kudos!

I was re-watching the Matrix Riff today and Kevin mentions "Reign of Fire" early in the movie.

Oh god....

I have to say, although Mike and Kevin fought the good fight on this one, the movie was just excruciating.  We had to stop watching halfway through, the movie is horrible.  It doesn't even PRETEND to be realistic about anything, logic, physics, biology, sociology and math alike, all thrown out the window.

It was a movie with so much obviously wrong with it that, to my mind, any jokes other than "Dear god did that just HAPPEN?" feel kind of shallow.  It does not speak well of those distant, dark masters of Hollywood that a film like this could get made.

I highly enjoyed this movie, and likewise, enjoyed the rifftrack.  As an HP employee, I got a huge kick out of the Dell laptop battery remark.
