i guess i'm still unclear on how this works. is it possible to burn a VOD movie to DVD without the DVD player needing to be DivX certified? do i need special burning software in order to do this?

Divx certification has not been part of our VOD system for a long time, we have been DRM free for close to a year.  You can burn any of our VOD files to a DVD, you will just need software to convert it.  There should be several guides in the Tech Support forum

We also offer a burnable ISO image for Planet of Dinosaurs, and hopefully will be able to provide these for releases going forward.

I really liked the RAR files as it was VERY simple to un-RAR them and have them turn into a jpeg or ISO.

Maybe someone thought they could literally scan a DVD to get an image file.

No, I meant when I used WinRar, it converted it to a mpeg, then I used DVD Flick to create the ISO and burn.
