True Blood
« on: August 30, 2008, 07:34:49 PM »

I didn't know anything about this show until I saw a spot for it before RT With Bill Maher earlier this morning and haven't read any of the Southern Vampire Mysteries. But it looks pretty sweet, and my Moxi box is all prepared for it.

So, is anyone else planning on watching this?

I saw the first episode a couple of months ago.  It was pretty decent, though I don't really see the long term potential from the series just yet.  I'll be checking out more.

I've got the DVR set to record it, but had it skip all the documentaries they're showing before it starts.

Wow, this didn't take long...

I've only seen the pilot to date (the 2nd episode is on my DVR), and I'm pretty mixed on it. So is the bartender the dog? And why's Tara so fekking annoying?? She drove me crazy.

Well anyway, I'm going to be giving it a few more shots...cheers!

I've been seeing ads for a drink called Tru Blood all over NYC. Knowing that HBO has a series starting called True Blood, I thought this was a remarkable moment in marketing synergy until I read this article: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2008/07/tru-blood-campa.html

Because people who are thirsty and looking for a soft drink are necessarily the same kinds of people who want to see a vampire show on HBO.

Huh?

Yeah, the only reason I'd continue watching it is because of Anna Paquin.

I have no desire to watch a bunch of hicks screw eachother and yell at eachother unless Anna Paquin is part of it.

There certainly is alot of hicks screwing in the show.

I saw the first episode, was disappointed that Anna Paquin will probably stay fully clothed the entire time, then the hurricane broke my directv dish and they wont come out until October 7th to fix it.................. so I will have to watch reruns.

HBO have already renewed it for a second season.  I like it.  I've never found Anna Paquin that attractive, but the southern-chick look really works for her.

I'm on episode 11 right now. I LOVE this show.

Agreed, and agreed.   GRRRRRR.

I am not sold on the show however.   The guy who plays Anna's brother drives me insane...... I want to put a bullet between his eyes.
