Meteorologist shot outside TV station in TX
Posted: Dec 17, 2014 2:18 PM Updated: Dec 17, 2014 2:19 PM

EDDY, TX (KWTX/CNN) - Authorities are searching for a gunman who shot and wounded a TV meteorologist Wednesday outside the station the victim worked at.

The incident happened as Patrick Crawford left the KCEN studio near Waco.

Authorities said Crawford and the gunman exchanged words before the gunfire erupted.

"A gentleman walked up to him and started firing at him multiple times, striking the vehicle and striking him," said Trooper D.L. Wilson, Texas Department of Public Safety. "The driver of the vehicle, he jumped in the vehicle and he drove off and he crashed over here on the fringe road. That's why we were called and involved and we found out it was an active shooter."

Crawford was taken into surgery at a nearby hospital.

Schools in the area were locked down, and motorists were advised that parts of Interstate 35 could be shut down as police look for the gunman.

Looks like it will be pouring rain Christmas eve, it's probably going to take me at least 8 hours to drive the 200 miles between Philly and New Haven.

There's this little thing called New York City in the middle of my drive, Christmas eve, bad weather, might actually take 10 hours.  I've had it take almost that long once...
