I was just thinking of that too.

As much as I love that movie, and most of the effects have their charm, I always hated how obviously mechanical the street moving was.

Yeah we've had our 3rd 'Polar vortex' reach the south-east and there are leaves changing here too :o
Predictions are being made that we may not break the 90 degree mark during the month of August here in the Charlotte area.
Based on the longevity of the Great Lakes being nearly completely frozen over, and the ice lasting till June may/may not be playing a possible role in this event due to the still cold water temps :-\

Mate of mine in Nashville said they had pipes that froze then burst all over town this last winter. Then Taylor Swift left on vacation.

The west side of the Appalachian mountains get it worse than we do here a lot of times..

The storms coming from the northwest are usually shredded or weakened by the mountains, but if they come around the south west and we get a cold wedge of air trapped over us is when we see more devastating storms with ice, sleet and snow :o

Been a mild summer here in Flailin' Legs Tennessippi. Not too hot, lots of rain.  But, we did have a crawdadnado.  It was horrible: people kept running outside, mouths wide open, cayenne pepper and lemon lemon juice all over their faces. Some reporter wailing, "Oh, the crustaceanity."

I'm only a wee bit further south than Nashville.

It really didn't get that cold, it's just that houses are built really shittily around here.
I was surprised at what a dump Nashville was: drove around it with my GPS on and doors locked, but it looked pretty poverty stricken. I was expecting Vegas. Maybe I just saw the worst bits?

I saw the North and East so probably not the best bits, then. Also went out to Oak Ridge National Labs and got a tour.

The real shithole in TN is Memphis, I hear.

Well everything was a shithole in the 70s.  All brown and hairy everywhere.
And wood panelling.

And it was always DARK wood paneling, never light.

And the goofy kitchen wall giant wooden spoons hanging on the walls.

Dear god, those were terrible

And the heavy window full curtains......
