If your TV doesn't have the ability to zoom in on the matted widescreen image, then it SUCKS.

Does your TV do this? Does any?

My DVD player, on the other hand, does. Alas, it's a feature that's mysteriously left off of my BD player.

My parents new HDTV allows them to zoom in on the matted widescreen image as well.

Well, it took me a while, but here's the UN-Rifftrax cover:

Oh, and I am gonna work on the other 2 also, in the same manner as this one.  I have all 3 from the laserdiscs, and I wanna use covers too.

Wow!

Thanks again this cover really does look great.

I'm looking forward to the other two.

As far as I know, mine lets you change the aspect ratio--I can zoom in on a matted widescreen if it's just on TV, but if the input signal is from the BD player it sets the aspect ratio automatically.  I can probably disable this feature, I suppose.

Just because your dvd/BD player can zoom does not make it better. In fact, its a pointless feature for videophiles. Even if you zoom on a picture with this feature you are losing quality. A non-anamorphic picture has black bars that are wasting screen space...  when you zoom in, you are not actually increasing the resolution. The resolution was lost when they transferred it with the black bars. You are just blowing up the image. And anyone who takes photos will understand how crappy a digital zoom really is. This will often cause defects in the original movie to be more noticeable and gaps can often appear between the scan lines. The bigger the tv, the more you will notice this.

This just shows you how little lucas really cares about the original version of the movie. Apparently he couldn't be bothered with a proper transfer. And yes I can definitely say the laserdisc transfers are in fact better than the crap he has released. http://originaltrilogy.com/ has a group of people who actively try to restore the original movie as much as possible since lucas won't.

If you want the original trilogy to look good, then you don't want the original trilogy. Because the original trilogy doesn't look good. Once you change it, it becomes the Looks Good Edition. Lucas did that and people complained. Sorry, but ingrates deserve nothing.

Restoring a movie so that the print looks good isn't the same as changing the story, last time i checked Citizen Kane looked great on dvd and the story was the same.

Also in theaters Star wars wasn't a widescreen movie shoved into a full screen frame,Lucass made changes for the DVD.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people wouldn't have watch Star Wars in the first place if it had only used 1/4 of theater screen.

Yes, and demanding that somebody spend money to cater to your every whim even though you don't like anything they've done in the past is completely reasonable. Look what Lucas fucking did for people. He spent his own damn money to make the special editions, and people bitched about it. Then he spent his own money to make unnecessary prequels, and nobody liked them. So he caved and signed off on putting the best existing transfer of the original theatrical editions on DVD, and people found something else to complain about. If that was you, would you do one more damn thing for anyone? You're demanding that an artist go back and spend his own money to redo a period of his career but throw out all of the creative decisions he made because you didn't like them. You're lucky Lucas hasn't spend his own money to hunt down and kill every last ungrateful Star Wars fan.

Hey, are the fighters female?  If so, then we can all make silly, condescending cat noises and treat the disagreement as frivolous and something to be laughed at and not taken seriously.

Wow, an impromptu societal riff. That almost gave me whiplash. Now... what if it was a fight between a Mexican immigrant and an African-American?

Excuse me but no.

First off art has always belonged to the people that view it not just the artist,if art was changed every year there would be no such thing as art it would just be tech.

Also Lucass is one of the richest people on the planet not because of himself but because of people like me giving him our money.

Also no one is talking about forcing him to change anything all i am saying is that i will not pay money for a DVD that only puts a picture on 1/4 of my tv screen.

Also one of the main reasons Star Wars made money was because of the SFX,Lucass had nothing to do with those but after other people made him rich he is just tossing it to curbs and doing nothing but giving interviews saying how awful the work of otther people that made HIM rich is.

Also he is basicly calling all of us stupid for watch the non CGI movies all these years.

Also Lucass' changes are not just to SFX they are major changes to the story that make it and the character stupid, sorry but he doesn't have the right to kill me just because I don't want to give him any more of my money.

I would like to point out that i had all the toys as a kid and I paid for the Star wars movies three times already,he has no right to force me to buy them again.

bratpop you only seem to come on here to insault people and make death threats so i will not be replying to any more of your posts, you just seem to hate everyone and everything I i prey that some day you will grow out of it but until then i will not be getting into this stuff with you in every thread.

Anyone watch any of those fan edits?

I have fan edits of the prequels.... Aside from the riffs, those are the only versions I watch.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

I have an EP 3 fan edit that improves the film immensely. Really good stuff.
