its do-able, but you'd probably have to shrink the size of the SW logo and the riffer pictures to get everything to fit.

Damn you, Lucas and your fifty freaking chapter breaks on your dvds!!!

EDIT:  Nice!!  Good job......Makes me want to finally start making inserts along with my covers...

Well everything fits, and it's readable when you print it out. It just wont be as clear as some later ones will be.

The print out shouldn't be blurry if done right. I've found if the font size is smaller than 8 or 9 pt then it may have some readability issues when printed. The resolution of your image might be a little small though. My Covers are about 3000x2000 pixels in size. It would definitely will be a good idea to up the resolution on your inserts. Also, I'd go with jpg and not png as a save format. My huge covers are only about 1mb in size and that is when i keep the compression very low (or if in photoshop, the high quality setting). Png on the other hand would be about 6mb at the same resolution. PNG is better suited for web images and not compression. It has its place, just not in hi res photos.

Here's a good guide on resolution recommendations I snagged off the internet:

1704 x 2272 resolution = 5.7 x 7.6 print size
1944 x 2592 resolution = 6.5 x 8.6 print size
2304 x 3072 resolution = 7.7 x 10.2 print size

As long as you keep your resolution high enough, it should suit everyone. Keep it too low and your printer has to do the work of enlarging the size (which is never a good thing).

Oh.. and its a good idea to have your images at 300 dpi for best printing results.

Cool. This means we can start a new tradition of The Chapter Selection Inserts!

Here is something to add for those looking to do case inserts.

I don't usually make these but I did a quick measurement on an insert from a bought dvd that is fairly full size.

4.75"x7"

So if you plan on creating this, you would have (in pixels) an image of 1425x2100. You have to make sure your dpi is set to 300. If you change the dpi then the resolution should be adjusted accordingly. So in summary

300dpi DVD insert = 1425x2100 (for a 4.75"x7" photo)
150dpi DVD insert = 713x1050 (for a 4.75"x7" photo)

Keep in mind the lower the dpi the less quality you are going to get with your printings, but any bigger than 300dpi is usually pointless unless you have an expensive printer. Hope this helps.

Thanks!!  After work today (or when I get bored), I'll get to work on that for you.  I am guessing you dont want their names as well?  I'll find a quick write-up about the movie itself, and strip off everything rifftrax related.

So is mine!!!  Oddly, the quality is much better than the version in stores of the original theatrical version (unlucasified, that is)

The DVDs were taken directly from the Laserdiscs. There shouldn't be any difference.

Trust me... there's a difference.  The discs that were in the 2-packs are grainier and the contrast is actually a bit worse.

I know the guy who transferred the ones I have did a few cleanups, but I never knew how much.....  so maybe he just did a fantastic job with it, and Lucas didn't.

Well, it took me a while, but here's the UN-Rifftrax cover:

Oh, and I am gonna work on the other 2 also, in the same manner as this one.  I have all 3 from the laserdiscs, and I wanna use covers too.

I'm mostly just pissed that it isn't anamorphic. Because it means I never want to watch the originals cos they're a tiny rectangle in the middle of a big screen.
Pretty sure the originals were released on fullscreen versions in a boxed set, for what it's worth.

If your TV doesn't have the ability to zoom in on the matted widescreen image, then it SUCKS.
