Rifftrax rating system?
« on: December 14, 2006, 09:02:09 PM »
The polls don't work very well for rating the RiffTraxes(?) because the most-watched ones will always get more votes. It seems to me that something like a 5-star rating system  would work better.

/just my two cents

Interesting suggestion.  I think I might just implement something.

Check out the Rank-a-Riff topics in the individual Rifftrax categories.  I only made some for the most recent.  What do you guys think?  Should I keep going?

Yes, keep going, I would have used 10 but 5 is cool too. will be interesting to see how the results evolve.

You did it! Cool!

I have two more cents for you (bringing the total to four cents):

- Maybe you could use the numbers 1-10 instead actual stars, or "4 stars", "5 stars", etc. It would be easier to than counting.
- Maybe also having descriptions like "Awesome", "Worth A Look", "Save Your Money", or something like that would help? Just a thought.

I'll put numbers in ().  But I'm glad your like it.  Thanks for the idea.  It gave me enough posts to move up into the top 10 posters.

The only problem I forsee, which is the same problem with anything like this - How do we know what a 10-star riff is? Have we even seen one yet? I'm not sure. What if I give STV 10 stars, and then, I dunno, Jurassic Park comes along and is even better? What then? HUH! WHAT DO WE DO THEN?!  ;D

We do what the Game industry did when games first started coming out. Give JP a 10 too and become harsher on future releases. :^)

Or do what the movie industry does and give it nothing for decades, then a lifetime achievement award.

I allowed you to change your votes just for that reason.  If something comes a long and dwarfs everything else, then feel free to knock the rest down a star or two.

But I guess it shouldn't be looked at so much as a comparison of the different Rifftrax, but as measurement of enjoyment.  How much did you enjoy this Rifftrax?  That's something that shouldn't change.  You'll just have to remember that, I'm not going to edit all of those polls again.
