The Chris Farley skit was hilarious...... I would also add his Chipendale's (the cartoon chipmunks?) dancing with Patrick Swazye..... that was a classic too.

John Candy in Splash playing racketball and drinking and smoking was hilarious.

The whole scene in the auditorum from the "Hush" Buffy episode was a riot.

I was thinking the Chippendales one also.
I also thought of that 70's game show clip from the Newlywed Game I think where the host asks where the most unusual place they have ever made love is and the wife says "The butt?" Cheesey but alsways makes me laugh.

I can't substantiate this myself, but a friend tells me that on Johnny Casrson's Tonight Show, the writers determined that the two biggest guaranteed laughs came from Johnny saying "McNuggets," and calling Joan Rivers a bitch. So they wrote a joke about Joan Rivers signing a deal with McDonald's to promote their newest menu item - Bitch McNuggets. Apparently it got the longest laugh in the show's history.

I think there was a poll over here in the U.K. to find the best T.V. moment ever. Not necessarily the funniest, just the best. I think the moon landing came in second and the first was Delboy in 'Only Fools & Horses' falling through the bar.

Says a lot about we Brits, really  ;D

You know, I'm a huge Britcom fan and I tried Only Fools and Horses. I really did. It just...wasn't funny. Maybe it's TOO British?  I mean, I like a fair variety of Brit shows, but that one just didn't make me laugh. Of course, I loathe "Are You Being Served?" and I think "Father Ted" is rather vacuous as well. So maybe it's just that it wasn't my style or something.

I've never been a big Only Fools... fan but given that (a) my family are cockney and (b) my Dad basically is Delboy I've seen a lot of it over the years. I think it's just been around so long that a lot of people have a great deal of emotional investment in the characters (and why the episode where they finally made it big was so well-received).

I've never been a fan of either of the other two (though I do like the Father Ted sketch where the priests get lost in the lingerie dept.).

It's this exchange between The Cat and Dave Lister in Red Dwarf:

2 Int. Sleeping quarters.

CAT and LISTER are lying on bunks in a darkened room, watching television.

LISTER:
Cat?

CAT:
Mmm?

LISTER:
Ya ever see the Flintstones?

CAT:
Sure!

LISTER:
D'ya think Wilma's sexy?

CAT:
Wilma Flintstone?

LISTER:
Maybe we've been alone in deep space too long, but every time I see that sharmi body, it drives me crazy.  Is it me?

CAT:
Well, I think in all probability, Wilma Flintstone is the most desirable woman that ever lived.

LISTER:
That's good.  I thought I was goin' strange.

CAT:
She's incredible!

LISTER:
What d'ya think of Betty?

CAT:
Betty Rubble?  (Pause) Well, I would go with Betty... but I'd be thinking of Wilma.

LISTER:
This is crazy.  Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?

CAT:
You're right.  We're nuts.  This is an insane conversation.

LISTER:
She'll never leave Fred, and we know it.

 ;D

heheh..awesome. i'm in the middle of getting them all from blockbuster online. too funny.

lots of chris farley stuff, but as far as standing the test of time, give me the honeymooners any day. i think jackie gleason & art carney were brilliant.

Um, that was that supposed to be funny? Maybe you have to know tha characters, but I can't imagine that even being memorable.

I never liked the Honeymooners. Art Carney was pretty funny, but I can't stand sitcoms that basically boil down to a married couple constantly fighting.

My latest "finds" among Britcoms have been Black Books and Look Around You (the latter of which still isn't on DVD here, but I got off the net). Hilarious.

Black Books. Genius.

"Well, to be honest, after years of smoking and drinking, you do sometimes look at yourself and think... You know, just sometimes, in between the first cigarette with coffee in the morning to that four hundredth glass of cornershop piss at 3am, you do sometimes look at yourself and think, 'This is fantastic. I'm in heaven.'"

"As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

I was just about to quote this one!  WKRP is one of the most underated sitcoms in history.

My favorite line from "Friends" was

Monica "The camera adds 10 pounds"
Chandler "How many cameras were on you?"

And of course the classic...

"A little song, a little dance,  a little seltzer in your pants"
RIP Chuckles

"And ze Oscah goes to.....George C. Scott in 'Man Getting Hit by a Football.'"
- Rainier Wolfcastle, last line of the film festival epsiode of The Simpsons

I have never laughed harder in my life.  I was on the treadmill at the time, and I had to stop running because I couldn't breathe.  The set-up for the joke is absolutely brilliant.  I'm sure that most of the people on this board know what I'm talking about.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

I certainly do!!

I personally love the sound of the football hitting that special place...

but the best part is the sound of Hans Moleman reading the opening credits!

It's not the funniest thing ever, but I must mention Futurama's "War Is The H-Word" where Henry Kissinger's head in a jar says "We have all seen too many body bags and ball sacks." That, and the entire "Spanish Fry" episode. "I didn't think I'd escape with my doodle, but I pulled it out." "Just like at the movie theater! WOOO!" I love dirty jokes in smart cartoons.
