Now it's time to split this forum into factions: who do you think is the better songwriter of the two: Linnell or Flansburg?  I have to say that if I'm thinking of a TMBG song, it's usually one by Linnell.  His songs tend to have more hummable melodies than Flans.  Although Flans can really rock the houselike nobody's business.  Plus, he is a motherf*cker guitarist.  Or maybe it's their manager.

I think of them so much as a unit that I don't really feel that separation in their songwriting styles. I know it exists, but it doesn't impress itself upon me.

I've never paid attention, but when I look up my favorites they all seem to be by Linnel. :^)

Has anyone downloaded the Itunes release of their new album? Is it good? Is it SO good that I should buy it now and then buy it again when they release it on CD? :^)

Apparently, according to their mailing list (which you should totally get on; you get free .mp3s of new songs), the CD will have a bonus disc of neat stuff.

I've been a fan of theirs since the early '90s with Flood. In fact, even though some of their later stuff has been okay, I still think Flood is the overall best album that they did. I was first introduced to them, strangely enough, by a couple music videos that Tiny Toons did of "Particle Man" and "Istanbul, Not Constantinople". If you've never seen them:

Istanbul:

Animaniacs was overall better than Tiny Toons, in my opinion. Unfortunately, they never did any music videos like these. The Wakkorotti bits were hilarious, though.

Both videos are on TMBG's video compilation Direct From Brooklyn.

I haven't listened to Here Come The 123's or Here Comes Science.  Are they any good?  I was rather disappointed at how forgettable The Else was, and haven't ventured back since then.

My 3 year old LOVE the ABC's one and I just got the Science one yesterday.  He doesn't seem as into it.

But he was singing along to some of the songs that he knew from the TMBG podcast of kids videos.

About to post about this.  Very cool and even for Homestar very surreal.

I built a little empire out of some crazy garbage called the blood of the exploited working class.
Now they've overcome their shyness, now they're calling me Your Highness and the world screams
"Kiss me, son of god!"

Can't wait for this Friday. I get to see Giants at Mr. Smalls in Pittsburgh. I also might get to see them in Minneapolis on the 3rd as well.

When it rains, it snows, I wonder why
