Out from the kitchen to the bedroom to the hallway
Your friend apologizes, he could see it my way
He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking
Can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding

This is where the party ends
I can't stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend

Wish I could catch them in Concert but they haven't been to NM. At least not since I've been a fan (Which isn't too long. :^))

OH, Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlight night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul not Constantinople
So if you have a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul!

Even old New York
Was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it, I can't say
People just liked it better that way!

If you wanna hear something really funny, try saying Constantinople backwards.... it just sounds hilarious...

Phonetically:

EL-PO-NIT-NAT-SNOCK

 ;D

Wow, except for the "k" that's not only phonetically, but literally!

My older brother introduced me to them in the early 90's. I attribute that to my actually likeing music other than oldies (which is all I listened to back then).

I've seen them live twice so far, and both times they have been phenomenal. I even got to meet Flansburgh after the show once, which was mind bogglingly cool.

I think I read somewhere that They Might Be Giants is going to be playing at the St. Louis Mardi Gras weekend down in the Soulard neighborhood...

That's pretty cool... I saw them in concert a few years ago where they opened for Hooti and the Blowfish... we watched the opening act and left.

Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of.
Should you worry when the skullhead is in front of you or is it worse because it's always waiting where your eyes don't go.

I just picked up Apollo 18 (Still slowly filling in the 15+ years before I became a fan. :^)) and I think it's my second favorite album to Flood. I love it when they play with the English language, and they do it a lot in this one. :^)

There's still dinner on my dinner

If it wasn't for disappointment,

Well, I think I can speak for all of us here when I say that everybody wants a rock to wind a string around.

On the contrary: What everybody wants is prosthetic foreheads on their real heads.

BTW, if you sign up for Their email list, you'll periodically get links to free .mp3s of new songs.

They Might Be Giants will be performing at the casino I work at, in its arena, The Orleans,  here in Vegas on May 18th.
If I would have known about it sooner, I would have taken the day off and went.
I could have even got discounted tickets :-[

Would really love to see them live

It's a one-of-a-kind concert experience. They're the only music act I still make an effort to catch live every time They come to town.

Now it's time to split this forum into factions: who do you think is the better songwriter of the two: Linnell or Flansburg?  I have to say that if I'm thinking of a TMBG song, it's usually one by Linnell.  His songs tend to have more hummable melodies than Flans.  Although Flans can really rock the houselike nobody's business.  Plus, he is a motherf*cker guitarist.  Or maybe it's their manager.
