Here are some of my favorite rare records that I have. I spoiler tagged the pics so as not to make my post run the whole page:

Buckner & Garcia: Pac-Man Fever Still has the original shrink wrap and hype sticker. Also check out the Pac-Man patterns on the inner sleeve.

lol, I have a promo copy of that album... man I must have 1200 LPs, all in Peaches crates. I worked at record stores for years...

When we moved into our new house, back when I was thirteen, there was a wind-up cabinet victrola (spell-check flags the word "victrola," btw), the bottom of which contained a record-storage area. My favorite of all these?

Nice! I miss Amoeba. Never really found anything good for me at Rasputin but Amoeba would always break the bank.

That is true. I never went to the Berkley stores when I lived in SF.

It isn't that vinyl is making a big come-back.  It's that CD sales are dropping far enough that music labels figure they might as well try some vinyl releases.  I've noticed some vinyl albums on the "upcoming releases" at Amazon.com, and the few that I've tried to order have always been cancelled without any copies being made.  There are some specific music groups who like to release vinyl editions of their albums, which you'd have better luck buying direct from the group instead of trying to find them in any store.  The one group I do buy vinyl copies of is Porcupine Tree.

I used to have a pretty good collection of vinyl, but sold most of my albums in the late 1980's.  I do still have a lot of vinyl singles, but that's mainly because I'm too lazy to sort out the ones I really do want to keep from the ones that I wouldn't mind selling.  Chances are good that most of them wouldn't sell for all that much, anyway.

It isn't that vinyl is making a big come-back.  [...]

It happens that a few days later one of my friends sent me a link to:

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/M/MUSIC_SALES

which notes that there were more vinyl records sold in 2008 than in any year since 1991, which I guess is a pretty major comeback!

Though I still think it's a matter of CD sales falling, so more independent stores are willing to stock vinyl albums.  If nothing else, they are harder to steal.   :)

I still have more than a hundred vinyl records, but most of them are rare-ish enough that I wouldn't want to sell them.  Most of them are not worth anything, but it would still be pretty hard to track down another copy if I did sell them.
