iTunes - what'$ the deal?
« on: November 07, 2008, 07:52:55 AM »
Does anyone know what the royalty rates are if you have an album on iTunes? Their site is completely useless. I couldn't find this basic information. I found out how much Amazon pays, and it's absurd. I calculated that if I sold a single CD for $11.99, I'd make about $1.64 off of it. Brilliant. I've seen reference to iTunes royalties on CD Baby before, but nothing on iTunes.com or Wikipedia, and all Google searches are news articles about shutting down iTunes and upsetting the industry.

"... the average payout is around 60 cents per song download, and most digital distribution services will take a 9-10% cut of that."
