Version 3 Feedback

torgosPizza:
This is not restricted to iRiffs feedback per se, but try to keep those issues on the iRiffs thread that already exists.

What do you guys think of the new site? Any problems with the Flash?

We've tried to keep the site innovative without being obnoxious. I know a lot of people hate seeing "autoplay" video on a homepage, but here's the catch - this time, you have a choice. With the Sample Player you can set a "default" channel if you like one in particular - say, Sci-Fi - so that every time you login to the site, you'll see that channel's videos. (Not a lot of videos are up right now but we'll be adding more soon.)

The second option is that you can turn off the Player completely (you must be logged in for this change to stick) and instead you'll see a "Featured block" that is a rotating array of products. Sometimes it'll be the latest release, other times it'll be a random assortment.

We've also been working on the new Cuts system which works pretty well so far (it's way faster than the old one) but unfortunately needs some love - so start working on some Cuts and sending 'em to your friends!

The Images section is also revamped (I'll be adding the already-existing Fan Art to this section very soon..) and a host of other improvements, besides the obvious redesign.

So post your feedback here - good, bad or otherwise. Especially if you see anything completely broken. We expect there to be a few design hiccups but nothing major, with the exception of iRiffs. Which reminds me: iRiffs is technically a Beta - so you should expect things to not work 100% right away. We had hoped the issues would be kept to a minimum but sometimes things are unavoidable. Keep in mind there is only 2 of us here who are working on this - we don't have a team like Google does - but we're doing our best to make sure everything works out.

Thanks for taking a look and for sending us feedback. We did this for you guys! :)

Hey, the site looks pretty great!  Most of the time.

A couple of times today, it has dropped into 1996 Mode.  On IE, of course.  It's as if the template went away and just left the various assets laying around higgledy-piggledy.

Here's what it looks like:

It's happening on the catalog pages as well, not just the front page.

It was doing this earlier today, then just went away after awhile.  Right at the moment, it's looking screwy again.

Yeah that's me mucking with the CSS... Internet Explorer has a bug where it can't handle a large number of CSS files (which is what our system uses.. a lot of them, it's a modular system). And so once I fix the CSS I'll have to re-enable aggregation.

So what you're seeing is normal and usually temporary :)

I like it!  It's definitely 1,000X easier to understand than the CNN election coverage.

The design looks excellent, very slick and professional. Compared to the old one, it's like comparing The Bourne Identity to James Bond. The early one was too busy and almost nauseating, whereas the new one is more refined and slightly dangerous.  ;)
