Anyone seen/heard this band? Saw them last night in Sheffield and...wow. My throat's sore as hell and I'm deaf in one ear; ladies and gents, Metal is alive and well

I've heard Dragonforce.  It seems they like to play every single note on their guitar several times in one solo.  It's pretty damn impressive.

Saw their video the other day and damn are they silly.  Though now that Rhapsody has totally jumped the shark into hobbit jigs I guess there has to be a replacement.  The vocals on Dragonforce were difficult though, heavy on that pitch-correction processing sound.  They also seem to think faster is better so way faster is way better.

They come on stage to the annoucement that they're "the fastest band in the world". In their case, faster definitely pays off

Last night one of them played a solo using an inflatable sword he'd swiped from someone in the crowd. Ace.

DragonForce kick ass! As long as you get used to the fact that every album is more of the same.

It's like Power Metal and Speed Metal had a baby and fed it nothing but steroids!!



One of my favorite guitar solos is in the song "My Spirit Will Go On" from their album Sonic Firestorm. It comes in at approx. 5 min. and 5 sec. into the song. That's some killer fret work right there!

As a fellow metalhead, I love these guys. Although they're not everyone's cup of tea - my roommate says they're "too happy" to which I can agree to some extent. But not all metal has to be the opposite. I almost got to see them at my hometown, but the show was after I had begun my trip to San Diego. Alas, I'll be sure to catch them next time they're around here.

For those of you who don't really like the vocals or maybe are into power metal but DF doesn't do it for ya, please check out Manticora, Pyramaze, Edguy, and Dreamland. Just a couple of my favorites (and generally not from the United States, of course). Good stuff.

I've got Pyramaze's two albums, Melancholy Beast and Legend of the Bone Carver, and I think the second one edges out the first. Though the vocals are a bit on the high-pitch side, they fit the music well. Some favorites are "What Lies Beyond" and "Souls in Pain".

Bone Carver is amazing. I love the sci-fi concept behind it (at least, what I gather from the lyrics) and it blows me away every listen.

On a non-Power Metal note, I'm going to see Children of Bodom and Amon Amarth tonight at SOMA in San Diego. Can't wait.

I heard Through The Fire And The Flames on a free sampler disc and laughed my ass off. These guys are awesome. I keep eyeing their CDs and will have to get one sooner or later.
