Legend of the Seeker
« on: November 02, 2008, 09:51:17 AM »
Did anyone watch this? I know, it's probably like the Clone Wars and nobody even knew it was on. Well, it's syndicated so it's on Saturday on CW and WGN and who knows what. Check your local listings (local listings will become digital on February 29th, 2009).

Erm, so spoilers I guess.

I've seen the pilot and the most recent episode.  I'll certainly agree with you that the "origin" story is very derivative, but I still thought it was kinda decent.  The one after is a little better, mostly because it doesn't get lumbered with a whole bunch of exposition.  I'll be sticking with it for the near future.

i want to watch this just because I read all of the Sword of Truth books (which Terry Goodkind shat upon with the last one), so I might watch this....

Anyone else still watching this? I caught up on a couple of episodes today, and I find myself liking it more and more. My only complaint is that thought they've got the episodic thing down pretty well, the overall arc hasn't been established as well as I'd like.  Everything that was set up in the pilot is still there, and really hasn't been developed at all.

It's good. It's probably nothing like the books, unless the books have them going on a new wacky adventure every 12 pages. Who's this Darth Maul guy they keep talking about?

He appeared in the pilot, but I think that's it.  He's basically the "big bad".

That he is (Darken Rahl is his name actually) and he doesn't actually appear untill a thrid of the way into the book.

Also, there is a part in the book where

We just watched the pilot this evening, and I literally lost count in the first 10 minutes of how many ways they diverged from (and fucked up) the story from the books. I just could not believe what a terrible job they did adapting it. I wish I could have seen the size of the truck they drove up to Goodkind's house to get him to sign off on this... it must have been heavily laden with cash. :P

Extremely disappointing.
