Just watched this.  I was 50/50 on it.  An interesting premise to say the least but something felt a bit off. The brief scene with his family in particular just didn't feel natural. The actors didn't seem to have much chemistry with each other. And for the life of me I can't understand the advantage of a secret spy organization wanting to create a spy with a split personality? Or am I missing something? Perhaps their motives will be explained eventually.

On the plus side it was action packed and fast moving. And, as I said, the premise is interesting. I'm willing to give this a chance to settle in and get the kinks out.

I tried watching the Eleventh Hour premiere. Got about fifteen minutes in and couldn't take it anymore. The woman detective was a horrible actress. If you want to see an honest effort at adapting a british series then watch Life on Mars instead.

Doesn't help her that they've made her character a  "one-note" so far.  But Sewel is always interesting to watch.

I'm just not sure how I feel about the cloning of the style of "The X Files"....
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

....and yet there's no supernatural or conspiratorial aspect at all to it.

My Own Worst Enemy is a ridiculous show, and it's probably not even that good, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.  I actually get the feeling that it's playing up the "so-bad-its-good" element, and doing it rather well.  I don't know how long the show can last - it doesn't seem like something that has long term potential, but then, neither did 24 - but I'll probably keep watching.

I thought Eleventh Hour was okay.  Marley Shelton's not a bad actress (the bodyguard), but they really didn't give her much.

Yeah, this whole "Ice Queen" who doesn't just turn down interest from men but insinuates that she'll shoot them....and tells the original officer that no, she won't go out with him before he'd even asked.....

Is this supposed to make her likable somehow?

While we're on the topic of miscellaneous tv:

Valentine: I've seen the 2 episodes produced and hate myself for it.  Basically, the Greek gods are real and try to make people find their soulmates.  It's pretty awful, but they keep showing Jaime Murray in her bikini....

Eli Stone: I really like Eli Stone.  It's sort of like Ally McBeal, but less annoying.  And no less than Sigourney Weaver appeared in the new premiere episode.

Sanctuary: It's okay.  It has a similar set-up to Hellboy, though lacking the wit and budget of that movie.

The Mentalist: What do you get if you cross House with Psych and throw a little bit of Life in there? A decent show that looks like it might be a hit.

Ducky, please join me in not watching Eleventh Hour. It's horrible. I was willing to give it a two-three-four episode chance until they had an eight year old genius kid murdering his classmates. No, even if they started making brilliant episodes, what's the point. It's on CBS. It's cancel-bait. I'd rather track down episodes of Threshold.

M.O.W.E. is okay. I wasn't thrilled with tonight's episode. Be better with a theme by They Might Be Giants.

Well, I appreciate the invitation but:

  • I love Rufus Sewell - I'm hoping that since he's so good the show will "grow stronger" around him
  • I don't show up on any rating service no matter what.  My not watching a bad show doesn't punish them
  • The kid in the show was eleven (get it? "eleven") like his victims
  • Yeah, it could have been smarter.  He's supposed to be a brilliant kid but he kills them all the same way?  And all the problem kids are of one age and one gender?

I'll give it more of a chance.

And I'd rather watch the syndicated "War of the Worlds" than a minute of "Threshold" (which I think that WotW show is where Braga got his idea for this).  At least WotW was laughable.
