Well I'm pretty sure the writers don't have anywhere else to go while the voice actor do.

The writers of Futurama are known for writing smart comedy and nothing is more unpopular in America right now then smart entertainment.

Also it is not FOX the network it is FOX the studio. The FOX network has nothing to do with any of this. Also all the money is from Comedy Central. They are the ones who control the purse strings. They are only willing to spend so much per episode.

Do you really think there was no talk of how much the show would cost before CC agreed?  What, the cost of the actors was not included or way underestimated?  It's either a publicity stunt or FOX studio trying to make a few extra bucks by reducing it's costs, I'm sure the cost to CC has already been established.

Yea, if this is anything other than a publicity stunt they are being unbelievably stupid.  Save a few thousand per episode now and potentially loose many, many times that by pissing off the fans and losing out on syndication and DVD royalties...

What does that have to do with anything?

It's right there.  They want to keep the budget down and the biggest cost is the voice talent.  Why wouldn't they try to get some newer, cheaper people in?  It's perfectly reasonable from their standpoint.  Stupid from ours, but were not the ones that has to pay Billy West or John DiMaggio.  I'm not defending their choice, I'm just seeing it from their point of view.

Funny ad on Adult Swim now, text message talking about the situation, then saying give Futurama back to us and we'll "do it right".

I was taking about bettertomorrowamy quoting me saying that I have always liked Ewoks from the Return of the Jedi thread.

Maurice LaMarche on Facebook:

"Maurice LaMarche  had a productive afternoon... he finally cleaned up his backyard - threw away all the sun-scarred cracked pool toys, peeling boogie boards, an old broom, deflated faded basketball, and, oh yeah, closed his Futurama deal."

I heard they mentioned the idea at the Comic-Con panel, but I hadn't heard if they said it was a definite or a possibility.
