But they were told they had to be both hence my comment about the format being impossible.

They were making them the way CC said they had to be made, which was movies that were also episodes.

They were not movies that were just broken up.

I'm amused by how often RiffTrax forum users don't seem to get jokes. :P

All the interviews I read about the movies from Groening were that they were written as movies and then they would chop them up and add new bits to try to make them work as episodes.

I got it, which is unusual for me.  ;)

I'm pretty sure I remember the commentary track on the first movie has them talking about how hard it was to write the movies since they had to be able to split them for broadcast later.    I also remember looking at the script on DVD 1 and it was split in 4 parts with 3 acts each.

I saw Into the wild Green Yonder at last and I have to say it was one of the best episodes they have done.

Now I can't wait for the show to come back.

I bet the wormhole takes them back to Planet express.

With this show it could be anything, could be easily done with one of the professors crazy experiments, remember the show with the universe in a box...  Can't wait to see what they come up with.

I have now watched each movie about three times and I have to say I don't think there is much wrong with any of them.  I don't know why but I liked them all much better the second time around.  At any rate they are better then Family Guy's new episodes.

How do you rank the movies?

Bender's big Score 8.7/10
The beast with a billion Back 7.5/10
Bender's Game 8.0/10
Into the Wild Green Yonder 9.5/10

Maybe it will take them to wherever Nibbler went. I haven't watched WGY in awhile, but he was completely absent right?

I got your joke, and frankly, I thought it was really funny. That's a brand of humor I can get behind.

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/06/its-official-futurama-returns.html

Quote
26 new episodes of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's late, great animated series to air beginning in 2010. The studio cites Futurama's "blockbuster" performance on DVD and in reruns on Comedy Central as the reason for its rebirth.

y'know what goes great with brand new Futurama... a brand new Futurama cast

Quote
The website Forces Of Geek is reporting, based on Facebook posts from John DiMaggio, Phil LaMarr, and Maurice LaMarche, that 20th Century FOX TV, which produces the show, may be trying to recast the revived Futurama. Now that sounds like a terrible idea.... because it's a terrible idea. But it seems to be happening. The site even reprints the audition sheet. For instance:

[ BENDER BENDING RODRIQUEZ (BENDER) ]
Bender, a cigar-smoking, booze-guzzling, kleptomaniac robot, had a successful career in bending girders but tired to kill himself when he found out the girders were being used for suicide booths. He was saved by Fry and later took a job at Planet Express. To be able to function properly, Bender needs the chemical energy from alcohol. Excessive drinking is mandatory or he will become sober and unable to control his body. Magnets stuck to his head make him sing like a folk singer...SERIES REGULAR

I hope they dont try anything like that but I was kind of concerned that there was no mention in the press release about the producers/writers/actors coming back so i've been waiting for more official information.  they are all going to be at comic con so i'm figuring they will all be returning.  guess we'll find out soon.

After so much time maybe some of the actors don't want to do a new series?  I didn't hear anything about it being hard to get them back for the movies, but those were one time deals, some of them might not want to commit to a series run.

Well, you know it's hard when your favorite fictional character gets a new voice, sometimes it works out OK... ;) ;D
