And I'm tacking on ANYthing muppet (including Yoda) cuz muppets flippin' rock also. If I were a fraggle, I'm sure I'd be a blue one with really spikey hair....

Be careful there, J-Proof. "ANYthing Muppet" would include Muppets From Space, A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, Kermit's Swamp Years, and Muppets Wizard Of Oz. I've always imagined Jim watching these movies in Fraggle Rock or whereever he is now, and rolling his eyes. They crapped all over his legacy. Muppet Christmas Carol, however, is hands down the best Christmas movie ever made.

And Fraggles = awesome.

Hey, hey, hey. Don't be hating on Muppets from Space, now. It's at least as good as Muppets Take Manhattan, and I personally would put it pretty close to the Great Muppet Caper.

Muppets From Space commits the inexcusable crime of not being funny. The only laugh in the whole movie is Pepe's Jello, for Pete's sake. Pepe? A horny shrimp? Ugh. (I hate Pepe, in case you couldn't tell.) And all of a sudden Gonzo's worried about what he is? He's a whatever. It never mattered what Gonzo was, because the Muppets love him for who he is, not what. It's all just a sad excuse for lame Men In Black gags.

Oh, come on, Animal is a horny, uh, thing, and nobody complained. You're telling me Kermit's under-his-breath "I wish I could find my pants..." wasn't funny? Or his deadpan "Way to get down with your bad selves." (And incidentally the soundtrack was bleeding great. All of the stuff with Jeffery Tambour and the bear didn't do anything for you? Gonzo talking to his sandwich and being confused about when to eat? Argh.

Anyway, the moral was that everyone loved him for who he was and so forth. Only with more awesome funk.

And Fraggles = awesome.

Fraggles was quite the show.  I remember one episode about racism, where the magic trash lady took away all of the radishes, which all of the different races need to survive.  From the beginning you're like "Oh I see, so eventually they are all going to get together because they need radishes and realize that they have some things in common.  Then they will work together to try to get the radishes back and end up being friends and stop fighting with each other."  But that's not what happens.  At the end of the show they still hate each other end up blaming the other races for the radish shortage, causing them to hate even more.  I was so amazed.  It's a kids show, but instead of going the message route, they decided to say something more true, that racism is very deep and powerful and hard to overcome, yet if you can look at it from an outside perspective it's all very silly.  You don't see truth like that in kids show very often.

No, the point was that the goddamn fraggles keep stealin' all our radishes and that's what's wrong with this country.

Amen brother.

Feel good movies: I'm subjected to a lot of dreck at our cinema, so it's a special occasion when I leave the auditorium smiling.  Wedding Crashers and Anchorman did it for me in the funny stakes.  Amelie and Brick are brilliant, brilliant movies that I was proud to have seen at the cinema and I almost wet my pants when the Rohirim rode...

I love the Muppets too!  The muppet show is one of the few TV series I have the DVDs of (pretty much that, the Monkees and MST3k now that I think about it ... out my hundreds of DVDs. I should buy more TV series).

I was very anti-new muppets for a while.  I remember they did a Muppet special when Jim Henson died and they introduced the new Kermit voice.  I figured I'd never watch the Muppets again.  Kermit is my puppet idol (sorry Servo) and it felt like they should retire him.  Then I saw Christmas Carol because someone gave it to me for Christmas.  That was hilarious.  I love Pepe but Rizzo is my new second puppet idol. If I could just grow up to be like Rizzo!

I did see Muppet Wizard of Oz but I think I must have blocked it out because I don't remember it being really good or being really bad.  I haven't seen Muppets in Space, I need to!  So many movies, so little time!

I think the really cool part about the Muppets and Fraggle Rock is that it has something for adults and kids.  I loved the Muppet Show as a kid and watching it now I get some of the more mature humor that I didn't get then.  I haven't seen Fraggle Rock in a long time.  I didn't know it was out on DVD until just this second.

Muppets Wizard of Oz was OK.  It did have one great line in it where Gonzo turns to the camera and says something like: "For all the students out there, you can now start your recording of Dark Side of the Moon."   ;D

I'm trying to think of a movie I pop in whenever I want to "feel good" that isn't a kid's movie and one movie keeps coming into my head and I'm almost ashamed to admit it but . . .

The GOONIES ARE GOOD ENOUGH!

Yes, I admit, I love that movie.  It makes me feel good  :D  I'm glad someone else said it, and Princess Bride although I'm almost sick of that movie.  We watched it all the time when I was in High School...ALL the time.

I haven't seen that but doesn't Tarantino show up in it? I love his movies but everything he's in becomes slightly creepy at best. He's like a big weird foot fetishy troll.

I would say it's the weakest of the decent muppet movies: worth watching and not unfit to be in a muppet collection, but not exactly top of the line, either.
