The Riff Mix: Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers The Movie
« on: August 29, 2008, 11:36:02 AM »
Did you ever listen to a Rifftrax and go "Man, my Scooby-Doo impression is WAY better!"

Did you ever contribute to a riffing project but felt they didn't deliver your joke the way you had it in your head?

Think you have a good riffing voice, but don't have the time or computing power to record a feature-length mp3?

Then the Riff Mix is for you.

The Riff Mix is similar to other forum riffing projects, but instead of submitting text versions of the riffs, you submit AUDIO versions of the riffs. Yes, you record the jokes! Just grab a mic, record, create a quick guide to tell me what riffs go where, and send it in! Then Riff Mix Master Greg will combine the audio snippets and turn it into a full-length riff!

Ok, so this is an experiment, so we're gonna have an extended deadline then most riffing projects. All submissions are due November 1st. That's two months to send in as many recorded jokes as you want.

THE MOVIE:

Yes, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie. What happens when you try to cash into a soulless children's cashcow, but don't have the Japanese stock footage to pad everything out? You get a bunch of stuntmen in clunky plastic costumes to fight Belloq dressed in purple makeup. It's a mix of rainbow vomit and kiddie violence, and it's a perfect test subject for this new form in riffing!

THE RULES:

1) Watch the movie.
2) As you would for a Riff Raff Theater or other riffing project, think up jokes.
3) However, instead of writing them down, RECORD THEM! Grab a mic, some cheap audio software like Audacity, and deliver your own jokes! Don't worry too much about audio quality, just be sure we can hear what your saying.
4) Create a guide that tells me where the jokes go. Either e-mail a text version, or record the directions with the riff. EX. "Ok, this next joke is for Hour 1, minute 7, second 46, when Ivan Ooze gets hit with a fireball" For text versions, use the classic Riff Raff format: 1:07:46 ^Ivan Ooze gets hit by fireball^ Joke 23
5) Save the audio file as an MP3.
6) Send the MP3 and guide to me via e-mail at gregmcduck84@yahoo.com

When I've collected all the audio files, I'll remix them into a full-length riff for you to download!

Remember, the deadline is November 1st. Let's see what happens.

Nice idea Greg.  I'm all for trying new things.   I might have to pick up a copy of this and give it a go.

I pledge my loyalty to you oh master Megatron... aaand this project too.

I've wanted to see this riffed for a while, and with the simple idea of buying the DVD @ Wal-Mart for what, $5 in the toy department means that I can easily add my wit to the project.  (I have my rare moments so I'll try) I've just discovered fan riffing and iRiffs today and am eager to help contribute, and quite frankly, Greg, this is one of the best ideas to get fans involved.  The only downside to this project is that there won't be any conversations going on (the only solutions are either talking to one's disgiused voice or convincing another to help), and with a couple hundred Riffs there's going to be at least 90-100 voices throughout the course of the movie.  Still, I hope I can lend a few jokes to this endevour.

Ah, dibs.  Now we know exactly how long that system worked.   ;)

Anyway, if I wasn't so busy getting my first riff off of the ground I'd contribute to this one.  Maybe I'll have time when you do your second one, Greg.  Good luck everyone.  It'll be great to hear what you all come up with.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

Assuming my new condenser mic (still in the mail) WORKS like I expect, you can rightly anticipate some submissions from me for this one. ;D  Awesome idea for a compilation riff!

And yes, my Scooby Doo impression IS way better.

I'm only able to put so many viewings in (pressed for time, as I always am ::)), but I'm currently at around the 30 minute mark.  I'll be sure to have SOMETHING for you to work with by November.  It may not be much at the end of the day (due to my pickiness about jokes), but every little bit helps, right? :-[
