The Soup Mutates
« on: August 24, 2008, 01:19:29 PM »
Ok so I have very limited cable and I don't have E! meaning that I don't see The Soup with all that regularity.

But that's ok because I do have Style,  they also have a Soupish show, er kinda

It answers two vital questions:

a) If The Soup and Fashion Police had downed a fifth of Tequila each and decided to mate, what would the offspring look like?
b) What the hell happened to Topanga once Boy Meets World went off the air?

Still trying to work out if I like the answer to b)

Nah that's OK.

Like I said in the other one (and indeed on Facebook today oddly enough), Danielle is adorable. The writing on the other hand could really do with some tightening up.

You forgot to mention The Soup's legitimate offspring, Web Soup. It's starring Chris Hardwick and airs only on G4.

This has nothing to do with the actual thread, but does anyone else think that the title to this thread sounds like the direct-to-Sci-Fi-Channel sequel to Crow's "Earth vs. Soup"?

Nobody?  Just me, then?  Okay.

I remember this show, is it still on? God damn how many The Soup clones are there anyway? The Dish, Sports Soup, Web Soup, Tosh.0... there's probably more too.

And yet, The Soup's current incarnation is spawning fans, ratings, and  rip offs left and right. ^^^ I guess I really cant say your opinion is wrong-- truthfully,  I've never seen this old 'Talk Soup'  everybody always brings up.

Not sure if "rip-off" is exactly the right term there; most, if not all, are on sister channels to E!, it's more an expansion of the format or unimaginative programming.

No worries RS, I certainly understand how The Soup can put some people off. Even the funniest show on television is bound to have its critics.

What is funny is that "The Soup" really didn't come from Talk Soup.  It was a title change to the show "The What The? Awards"  The renamed it as a homage and brought over the "Chat Stew" portion.

Its never been as good as it was with John Henson and Hal Sparks.

Eh I always liked the Greg Kinnear years. Henson was good too though.
