Post by: anais.jude on June 27, 2008, 07:37:35 AM
What music do you love to sing along to? And I mean BELTING out at the top of your lungs/if anyone heard you it would be embarrassing singing.

On the way to work, I was belting along with the buffy muscial:

Walk Through the Fire:

Anna Ng and I are gettin' old but we still haven't WALKED in the GLOW of eachOTHer's maJEstic presence! Listen Anna hear my words, they're the words that you'd think I would say if there was a me for you!

(Honestly, if you haven't sung They Might Be Giants at the top of your lungs, you're only getting half of the joy of They Might be Giants. :^))

Oh we're a sing along family!  Especially in the car.  The four us aren't just singing along.  We're chair dancing, waving our hands in the air, bip bopping along like a bunch of spastics having a fit.

The ones we usually sing along with are Freedy Johnston, Belle & Sebastian, Ben Folds, The Jackson 5,  Of Montreal, some The Magnetic Fields (my wife only likes one of their albums, I love them all) The Mountain Goats, and The Decemberists.  My wife knows pretty much every Sinatra song so she sings with him.  My younger step-daughter is a Beatles fiend.  And I like to embarrass myself with Otis Redding.

We also have some stray songs we always listen to: Dirk Diggler's The Touch, Black Bear's Black Bear, the Karate Kid song, Billy, Don't Be a Hero (thanks, Dewey Cox!), and Patches.  Also at Christmas time, we're always singing along  Especially to The Christmas Shoes and that damn hippopotamus song.

it's a 3 hour drive from my apartment to my parents house, so I pass the time by singing, I usually sing songs I know the words to, it's harder to do it the other way.

If you really want youtube has tons of Karaoke vids and I can record myself singing along to them you'd just have to time the clicking of play  correctly on the two embedded files :)

Oh and I tend to sing Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair, Under the Bridge, Ruby, among others.

I've been singing this song from the new Repo! The Genetic Opera trailer (located in your local Youtube thread). It's stuck in my head

"look what I've become, it's me she must escape............ I'm only living out a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..."

If there were a scholarly way to say Booyah, I would say Booyah to Tripe for the RHCP Under the Bridge...

Perhaps, Huzzah?

Two tracks from Giuseppe Verdi's bombastic Messa Da Requiem - Dies Irae and Tuba Mirum

There's only one way to sing these tracks: BOMBAST!!!!!

Speaking of guilty pleasures.  Thanks to Tony Soprano, we've been loving Journey all over again.  We're constantly trying to get that damn Yust a small town girl Yust a city boy  stuck in each other's heads.

Journey's a favorite of ours for singing along. They're not my favorite band or anything, but I LOVE faux drama in pop music, and, in that regard, Steve Perry ALWAYS brings his "A" game.

Someone mentioned They Might Be Giants earlier. I will always sing along to anything of theirs that comes up (my current favorite is "Climbing The Walls," which I sing AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS).

And if life's got you down, then you are clearly not listening to (and singing along with) enough Earth, Wind & Fire.

p.s. I <3 Courtney. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is awesomeness incarnate (listen to the album version sometime).

Well I remember every little thing as if it only happened yesterday.
Paaarking by the lake and there was not another car in sight.
And I never had a girl looking any better than you did.
And all the kids at school, they were wishing they were me that night.

I'll burst into Ben Fold's "Rocking the Suburbs" at the drop of the hat as well, but that just confuses people as I'm the only one who's heard it.

Yes, Journey's one of my favorite groups to belt out the tunes!

Unfortunately, it kills my vocal cords to sing at such a high pitch! I have to pace myself...
