As long as she doesn't touch the bust of Pallas above the library door everything will be fine. It's an exquisite example of second century BCE marble work and I would hate to see it soiled with finger prints.

Okie Doke. I want to go to the Hall. And, being in the hall, I am going to ponder over many a forgotten volume of my lost Lenore

um. getting to the Hall from A2 would require 12 moves. you only get 9 each turn. so would you like to say you are now at square H8 on the board, heading to the Hall?

also, the game board has scarlet marked at A1, which would be wrong. scarlet starts at A2.

How does getting to the Hall require 12 moves? There is a door at E8

And our moderator told me Scarlett starts at A1, so let's just keep it that way

Whoops sorry about that goof.  Shouldn't be a huge issues though since Scarlet can get to the Hall and make a suggestion their anyway from her correct starting location,

Board update

Board update
How does getting to the Hall require 12 moves? There is a door at E8.

A2 is where Scarlet starts, and there is no door to the Hall on that side that can be reached in 9 moves or under. She could, however, reach the Lounge in 8 moves. In fact, you'll notice (if you bothered to look) that every player has 8 exact moves to a room from their starting position (with the exception of Plum who has 7 moves to reach the closest room), which means no player has enough moves to make a suggestion in round 1, but only in round 2 from the room they reached in round 1, or a room they get called to as a result of a suggestion.

But if Scarlet starts at A1, she can both move AND make a suggestion in the same, beginning turn (6 moves to reach the Hall or Study, 3 left over to make a suggestion), whereas no other player can do so, resulting in Scarlett having the ability to make 2 suggestions before anyone else gets their first suggestion.

Nothing I can say in my defense except I play this game a lot (well simpsons version)...

So, does this mean that despite "playing a lot" you're just incompetent?

And our moderator told me Scarlett starts at A1, so let's just keep it that way

Or were you hoping no one else would notice so that you could exploit the advantage?

Okie Doke. I want to go to the Hall. And, being in the hall, I am going to ponder over many a forgotten volume of my lost Lenore

Given that you didn't even realise you had enough moves left to make a suggestion from an erroneous starting position (6 moves + 3 left over as I already mentioned), I guess I'll vote for incompetent.

Since Scarlet didn't make a suggestion this turn I don't see their being issue.  Ms. Scarlet will be able to make a suggestion from the Hall next turn just as she would be able to from the normal starting spot.

If she's determined to reach the Hall first, then sure, she could move to H8 on turn 1, then on her next turn she would require only 3 moves more to reach the Hall and be able to make a suggestion on round 2 anyway. So, sure, that works out to the same result.

Fine: Ms. Scarlet do you want to be a H8 on your way to the Hall (being able to get there and make a suggestion next turn) or get into the Lounge?

Well, while we're waiting on Miss Scarlet to get un-lost in the mansion, I'm sure we can let Colonel Mustard go ahead and take his turn, and keep this ball rolling.

Why yes, Mrs. White, I, Mr. Green, would be happy to join you in the Ballroom for an enchanting dance. If there's any specific dances you would like me to teach you, just let me know and I will mark the foot placements with these $100 bills in my pocket.

Though I would love to join the others in the ballroom because I do love it when three people attend a "ball" together,  I think I will move to the dining room. I think I should have plenty of turns for that.

Ah my dear Mrs. Peacock. How wonderful of you to join us in the Ballroom. Would you care to dance as well?   ...What's that? You say you got temporarily lost finding your way here? Well my dear we can't have that. Here, take this silly, worthless little roll of $10 bills and leave a trail wherever you go. It should help you find your way around a little easier. Here, you can have a roll too Mrs. White. It's a roll of $50's so you won't get your trail confused with Mrs. Peacock's. So now both of you should be able to find your way around a little easier, and I'll be able to find you lovely women in return. ;)

I have relayed the information I have to the most alluring Colonel Mustard.

Now I'm feeling a little flushed from all the *activity* in the ballroom. I think I'll make my way to the Conservatory and smell the roses. While I'm there I would like to suggest Mr. Green in the Conservatory with the (stunningly large) candlestick.

I can refute such base rumors about myself, and have given Mrs. White a thorough lecture on the implausibility of such an act by a person of my own distinguished and successful financial standing.

Now then, I shall follow this money trail back to the Ballroom and suggest the possibility (for the purpose of clearing my name up right away mind you), that I, Mr. Green could have possibly done in Mr. Black here in the Ballroom, with a Revolver, since it's a big room. I mean, you'd want the range, right? Not that I would actually have done that of course.. I'm just saying... ahem. well... I stand by my suggestion.

*fidgets with his money clip*

you had two posts after Didit said:

As always Prof. Plum please feel free to continue your investigation...

I feel I was justified and not at all brutish in telling you to simply pay attention, especially when I had to actually get your attention once before...

Tripe, you do know it's your turn in Clue right? ... just sayin' ...
<looks around nervously at the crowd then leaves the room hastily>

Have all other player moved? I'm Professor Plum

It's one thing if you're busy at work or had plans to deal with and would be back the next day to take your turn, but when we see you continuing to post everywhere on the boards, including in this very game thread (twice, as I said), and still not taking you turn, then it looks, quite logically, like you aren't paying much attention.

Mr. Green will wander over to the Billiard Room as well.

I say, that billiard's table is rather... antique. Well, I'm sure its age and general workmanship grant it some value. Did I ever tell you I had my own billiard table custom built? Gold plating all around the top of the table, with silver linings around the pockets, and six uniquely cut emeralds embedded in the top railing, marking the mid-point between each pocket. I considered diamonds of course, but I thought the green of the emeralds would match the velvet of the tabletop, and of course the money laid out in wagers.

But I digress. We are here to solve a murder after all, so I will suggest that Mrs. Peacock may have found the stuffed Albatross trophy hanging over the billiard's table a rather large offense (even I must deem it a bit gaudy I'm afraid), and sent a correspondingly large message of her own to Dr. Black with a Lead Pipe.

Oh! Mrs. White, so lovely to see you again. Do you fancy a quick... game?

Anyway, I will move to the library, which, if I am not mistaken will leave me plenty of steps to accuse Ms. Scarlet of killing him here with the revolver.  Subtlety is not that tramp's strong suit.

Mr. Green is also of the opinion that he needs a rest and will follow Mrs. White into the Library.

Oh, why hello there Mrs. Peacock! Fancy meeting you here. Is that a book on fowl or foul play you're reading there? Ha! I am, of course, being facetious. Naturally, reading some murder mystery here under such circumstances might be a bit unnerving. Your imagination might be fueled by wild ideas that don't even have a bearing on the case at hand.

For example, here we all are in this quiet Library, and over there is a candlestick that Mr. Black presumably used for reading sometimes at night. What if I, Mr. Green were to sneak in here behind you two ladies and pick up that Candlestick and do one of you in? Not that I would of course! I merely suggest that such a disconcerting scenario could pop into one's head while sitting here in an eerie silence, reading a murderous fiction, in a mansion already cursed by one death.

Oh my, I do hope I didn't scare you two too badly. I merely couldn't resist teasing you a bit to heighten the excitement. Would you like me to make it up to you by reading a verse or three of romantic poetry?

You wonderfully silly man. I can disprove your theory, so I'm not frightened in the least.  You always know how to put a girl at ease though with your sense of humor, dapper good looks, skin tight pants and long flowing mullet.  I'm getting faint just thinking about it.  But, on to the matter at hand.  We can't always think of skin tight pants and flowing mullets...even though we would like to.

I was just explaining to Mrs. White that according to the book on bird courtship rituals I've found in the library, many of our feathered friends live in complex social structures, often exchanging mates.  They will often even mate with the same sex, if a particular stunning specimen presents itself. I think the diagram on page 69 made her blush a bit.  I feel bad for exploiting her innocence on such matters.

I think I'll move to the hall and leave you two to read. There's a particularly interesting piece of Sanskrit literature on the top shelf in the corner.  The illustrations are, shall I say, eye-opening.

Since I'm missing my dear Mrs. White, I'll stay in the hall and suggest she did it (I know the dear doesn't have it in her sweet and gentle nature, but this is the only means I have of getting an audience with her).  I think Mrs. White is the type to use a knife in a murder.  Especially if Black had his pants down.  Knives do come in handy in that sort of situation. {glances in Green's direction}

Why hello again my lovely lily and beautiful bird! It is delightful to see you both again! I was just sitting here studying this book of anatomy to see if it could help me shed some light on the cause of Mr. Black's death in the absence of a trained coroner. Perhaps you dears would care to assist me in a few practice examinations? Now let me see here, what would I need to look for if, for example, Mrs. White had some violent opposition to Mr. Black here in the Study and tied the knot not with a ring but with a Rope? Hmm. I suppose an examination of the neck for marks of some kind would be in order, don't you think ladies?

While I'm in the kitchen, I'll suggest that Mrs. Plum did it here with the rope.  I hear the marble slab counter tops can be fun to do certain things on.

Scarlet is also unable to refute your suggestion.

I don't think that's true actually. I re-read the one where wadsworth refuted the accusation in game 1 :
http://forum.rifftrax.com/index.php/topic,9116.msg274127.html#msg274127 (http://forum.rifftrax.com/index.php/topic,9116.msg274127.html#msg274127)

He never said how many at all. It's not something I would say we need to do either.

Anyway, at this late point in the game, we need to wait and start confirming it's the next person's turn, since the current player can make an accusation after a suggestion after all.

Actually in the rules:

Quote
Making A Suggestion
As soon as you enter a Room, you may be able to make a Suggestion. By making Suggestions throughout the game, you try to determine - by process of elimination - what evidence is contained in The Case File.

    * A Suggestion requires three moves.
    * Once you make a Suggestion your turn will end, regardless of how many moves you have left.
    * You must be in the Room that is part of your Suggestion.
    * Your Suggestion must contain (1) One Character, (1) One Weapon, and (1) One Room.
    * If your character is called into a Room during a Suggestion, this is where you will begin your next turn.
    * You may suggest your own character, or non-playing characters, as part of your Suggestion.
    * You must post your Suggestion in the game thread as part of your move for that turn.

Ah, you are correct. Furthermore:

Quote
Making An Accusation
When you think that you have figured out the three pieces of evidence contained within The Case File, you may, on your turn, make an Accusation.

So, on your turn you may either Suggest or Accuse, but not both.

Amusingly enough, that's not how the last game ended. Peacock made an accusation immediately after her suggestion on her same turn...   and we all missed it until now! ha! Peacock's turn should have ended and the next player would have had the option to suggest or accuse.  ::)

I think the Clue games are cursed or something. We always have some sort of mixup. D'oh!   :'(

As for Mr. Green's suggestion:
Peacock is unable to refute your suggestion.
Plum is unable to refute your suggestion.
Scarlet is unable to refute your suggestion.

Ms. Peacock your turn.  Mrs. White please be sure to send the message.

I think I have found all the clues I need, and it would be nice if we could stop thinking of murder and start thinking of having a romantic picnic by the lake.  My dear Mr. Green, with your lovely Mrs. White behind bars it would free us up to explore our, shall we say, options?

I know for a fact that it was Mrs. White who killed Mr. Black. The Yin and the Yang. The ultimate battle between good and evil and all those cliches.  I know her weapon of choice was the rope and how fitting, you fraud.  Only a rope would be quiet, inconspicuous and hard to trace.  Mrs. White is nothing if not smart.  Not smarter than me, however.

I know that on the morning of the murder, Mr. Black was taking a quiet respite in the conservatory, admiring his prize orchids.  I imagine Mrs. White sauntered in, smelling of cheap perfume and Aquanet and engaged him conversation.  Then she quietly took out her rope and did the deed to the poor unsuspecting man. . . after doing the deed, I think she hung him.

I accuse you, Mrs. White, you tramp.  You should be ashamed for carrying on the charade with all of us.  I am not only hurt, but also a bit arouse...I mean hurt, of course. . . ahrem.

On the other hand, peacocks are known to be stupid birds.
Title: Re: CLUE: Online (Game 2 - Started)

Unfortunately Ms. Peacock: You have one item incorrect.

Also I just Realize in the Disproving section of the rules:

Quote
As soon as another player shares any evidence with you, it is proof that this evidence is not part of The Case File, and your turn is over. If no other player is able to prove your Suggestion false, you may either end your turn or make an Accusation now.

So Mustard should have gotten a chance last turn. (Sorry  :()

Either way: Mustard it is your turn.

GAH! Why is that info not under Making an Accusation!?! Why does it say making a suggestion immediately ends your turn when it doesn't necessarily do so?!

:grr: I was right all along! Stop confusing me with poorly written rules that confuse people that then turn around and confuse me!  :P  :P  :P

I'll note that as a suggestion of what to change.  When all is said and done I hope to get feed back as to how to make it run smoother and any ideas on how to better it (Just like the last game had).
Title: Re: CLUE: Online (Game 2 - Started)
Post by: AmandaGal on July 05, 2008, 12:47:47 PM
I don't think you should "change" that. When you play a game of Clue in real life, you can suggest and then accuse if you want to.  It doesn't make sense for you to suggest, be proven correct and then have the next person steal your thunder.

I also think it's silly that we're being told how many of our accusations are false, but I'm almost sure I won't play again anyway.

I think the moderator taking over for saying who can dispute a suggestion is good for speed, but obviously confirmations on whether someone wishes to accuse after their suggestion need to take place before passing the turn onto the next person. Other than that, I dunno.
