A whole episode of Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend...it's like Christmas came early.
*BUMP*
Okay, WHY am I bumping this thread? I expect answers, dammit!!!
Season finale: WOW. Just....wow. I'd add more to that, but I don't really think I have to, except:
NNNNOOOO!!!! NOT 24!!!! GAHH!!
.....and I've always had a tremendous amount of sympathy for H.E.L.P.E.R.. He's so lame, I think he needs all the (real) sympathy he can get (instead of the fake sympathy Dr. Mrs. The Monarch Girlfriend gave him. Poor thing...
).
I completely agree about my heart just breaks!
and with everything that went on this season, this episode seemed to come out of nowhere. I really Patrick Warburton isn't living and that Brock comes back
Or I will be soooooooo pissed
Tyrant, you didn't actually state any questions
Meh, the henchmen are okay, but the build up over the past couple of episodes has been brilliant, and not really involved them. So
I won't really miss 24 that much. Though perhaps the cloning technology recently unveiled could bring him back easily enough?
I'm actually a little tired of the Monarch too, as his story seems to have just repeated itself. I'm hoping for a some different villains in the next season...whenever that might be.
Ok here are my thoughts:
Ok Brock is gone.. Well for now at least. At the end Hatred seemed to be interested in joining OSI. I think he will become the new bodyguard for a few eps. 24 will be brought back as a clone.
I hope we get more Dr. Orpheus next season. Love him to death. "I would not go in there lads for I HAD TACO BELL FOR LUNCH!!!!"
My Theory: The Monarch's real father is Jonas Venture Sr!!!! (cause he was a hot guy who liked to hit that ass!)
Glad we're not the only ones who DVR'd it and got a double-dose of the first half. Me and Tyrant actually watched the first half twice before going to Adult Swim to catch the end. The first half makes more sense the second time even without the knowledge imparted in the second half. :^)
I was hoping H.E.L.P.eR would stay lodged in Brock's chest for a while. But hey! Walking eye!
Wow, not only did we get a Brock-heavy episode, we got a FANTASTIC Brock-heavy episode! This show has had no missteps this season and this episode was a perfect mix of comedy and bad-ass action adventure. The one thing I didn't like: the revelation that the Sovereign and Bowie ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON! That better mean that Bowie is somehow more powerful than the sovereign! Also, get actual Bowie (no offense to James Urbaniak's bang-up job).
Also, does this mean the Investors are going to be the big season-end villains, assuming there are any (there wasn't last season). And will Molotov look for revenge? She did (seemingly) love Monstroso, perhaps as much as Brock, and perhaps the real reason she joined was that she knew that Monstroso's death was unavoidable (Monstroso sure seemed to think so) and needed to put herself in a stronger position to take revenge for the death she knew would happen.
Also, are the Investors magical or super-science? Lots of big questions this episode. Also, it looks like while the psychics might have been an homage to Minority Report, do you think they were also an homage to Kurt Vonnegut's book Slapstick?
I forgot to check but...
He (Bum Rush) was one of the double agents, right? It looks like almost all of OSI agents we saw were dead except Amber Blonde, Headshot, Shoreleave and Brock.
I agree that this has been a great season, but Myra isn't there mom? So now there is a mystery that was solved which is now unsolved. TOTALLY going the way of Lost :(

To be fair, that just means they were telling the truth on the car drive back home after the last incident. That Dr. Venture LET her believe that is a new wrinkle, but she really is a crazy person who thinks she's their mom...

Its been awhile since I saw the episode that introduced Myra, but I don't remember ever actually believing she was the mother. I always got the idea that she was the former bodyguard before Brock, and went crazy.

It seemed pretty clear to me that the audience was meant to believe Myra was their mom after her intitial episode. That is why I am upset. There are many mysteries left to solve and they added another one back in that they "had" already solved.
And no offense but learning that Bowie isn't really the Sovereign was like the episode of Lost where we learned what Jack's tattoos meant! GIVE ME THE INFORMATION I FOAM AT THE MOUTH FOR! THE WAITRESSES NAME IS NIKKI SPOTNICK!
Soooo....
Was that the end of Rusty Venture? Does he have clones stashed away somewhere?
Great season finale. Finally watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Pretty quiet compared to the other season finales. I'm not sure how I feel about Gary being 21 again (at least so soon), but I'm glad 21 was able to get his revenge on the moppets, even if it was interrupted by Hatred. I was sort of expecting Hatred and Gary to team up as a new villain team by the end.
Anyone have a favourite moment in the episode?
It occurred to me this morning (Minor spoilers ahead):
If that's not really David Bowie, was that really Iggy Pop and Klaus Nomi?
OK. So the new Council of 13 (I Think):
1. Killinger
2. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch
3. Professor Incorrigible
4. Fat Choice
5. Baron Underbheit
6. Radical Left
7. Gary
8. Phantom Limb
9. Watch
10. Ward
11/12: Do Dragoon/Red Mantle get grandfathered in? They sold out the Soveriegn after he went rogue...
13: Dr. Z?
Not the Monarch.
Looks like Incorrigible is Impossible again and quit the villain game by the episode's end. He even showed up to the Venture funeral.
Oh that's right. He escaped with Sally. Not sure who the missing member is, then...
The last one was pretty great too. Curious to see about the history of the Monarch's parents (who appear to be a crime fighting duo?)

That would explain the link to the original Team Venture and the photo that the Monarch was obsessing over...
I was one of the first people (that I'm aware of at least) to postulate at the end of season one that
Rusty and the Monarch were step-brothers. They were both skinny, had the same color hair, and the same nose. They also implied that both fathers died around the same time, although now that's kind of a mess*. Now of course they've been leaking more and more...we have the photo, Venture Sr. and the blue Morpho "swung" together, etc.
*My only conflict here is that there seems to be a timeline issue that hasn't been particularly constant. It seem's to me they have implied that Monarch's parents both died in an airplane craft when he was a child, but that he lost one when he was in college around the same time as Rusty. They've also never said about an age difference, although it seems like Rusty is significantly older...although that might be substance abuse...
It's being pointed at so directly now that I have to wonder if it's a red herring. Hammer and Publick love to make Fan Theories look true right up until they reveal something nobody expected.
Yeah, it's a good theory, but I don't think that's going to be a reveal. I could see it being something the characters are lead to believe. For a while, anyway.
