Title: RIFFTRAX PLAYOFFS HEAT 2
Post by: JonnyFrag on November 18, 2006, 03:47:36 AM
Ok heat two (of 6) of the First Rifftrax Playoffs.
Good match ups in this one...
I ended up using 2 other movies from the old playoffs poll , one to make an nice even number and one because I had a mistake and listed a movie twice in my generator.
Pairings were randomized by a sequence generator, so some heats are more competitive than others, but I think was the fair way to do it. Besides, the non-winners this time can just be entered into the next playoffs.

Please vote, campaign, post yard signs whatever. Election day ends on Thanksgiving, and the winners will be advanced into the next round.

This heat was a tough one to pick from, for sure.

I ended up voting for the one least likely to be in the Rifftrax pipeline.

Ferris Bueller destroys the faux Godzilla?  This is defintely my choice, not to mention that half of the Simpson's cast is in the thing(actually just Harry Scherer, Hank Azaria, and Nancy Cartwright) which would make for funny riffs.

The Haunting (remake) that movie was so freaking painful however I was close to voting Wing Commander and Titantic.

However I think Titantic is somewhat of a given.

Could it be, could a small tuned car be readying to zip between Godzilla's legs?

As a matter of fact, why didn't they do that for Tokyo Drift?

Godzilla.  It's utter crap.   :)

Godzilla.  It's utter crap.   :)

Well, duh.  ;D

It seems people are torn between voting for the movie that's likely to win, and voting for a worthy dark horse runner up. For example, I want to see a Godzilla Riff a little more than a Fast & Furious Riff, but I voted for Fast & Furious since Godzilla seems like a gimme.

My vote goes for Titanic. I think most of have already heard Mike, Kevin and Bill riff on it. And I must say the riffing was quite brilliant.

Dude, if I can vote repeatedly, it'd be for Wing Commander! Just read the reviews on IMDB and that will be proof enough to gouge your eyes out shortly after the opening credits.

I mean, how often do you watch a sci-fi flick where a large destroyer in space uses sonar to evade the enemy? or that the total gross after it's debut in America only came up to $11 Million?

I voted for Willy Wonka... for the sheer opportunity of commentary on stupidity.  Then I saw Titanic and wish I voted for that utterly sappy nonsense.  Thanks for getting my back guys!

In Wing Commander a spaceship uses sonar? Wow.

Have to give it to Cobra.  The axe gang, the robots, the scene where he cuts his pizza with scissors, his useless partner...everything about it screams for a rifftrack.

Gotta be Titanic. Syncronicty (http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&lr=&defl=en&q=define:Synchronicity&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title) proves that *it will* be riffed. ;)
