Title: Thoughts / Favorite Lines
Post by: Insert Coin(s) to Continue on April 29, 2008, 02:25:19 PM
Pretty good Trax overall. Some of my favorite lines:

"No dogs allowed" (I love the way Bill said this)
"What a dick..." (haha, wow)
"Shrek 4: Shrek and Donkey Fart" (Kevin's delivery was perfect. So true about the way that series is heading...)

I liked the Kids Next Door reference, granted it was probably a reference to his Kids Next Door and not the Kids Next Door, but still

"I like turtles"
And the Cloverfield line, Definitely the Cloverfield line
Krusty The Deer
"That's a good one man"
"God I love this job"
"I got the Turbo Man, Sinbad is dead"
"There is no Santa!"
ooh and the end the end was awesome

My favorite:

"The gun alarm clock, you snooze, you lose"...

Something about the way it was delivered cracked me up.

Darn good Rifftrax, wish they could include a riff for the alternate ending version, it's much worse ( and renders the title meaningless).

"Don't touch that man's bacon"

If you look closely, Shrek is watching I am Legend on his flatscreen t.v. at the swamp

Was it me, or did Disembaudio sound a bit different while singing at the end?

Clearly that was not Disembaudio, but Damian Marley (the famous Marley).

"looks like Jerry Seinfeld is at it again"

(Didn't quite understand the joke but I got a kick out of the random Seinfeld reference)

Dark Seekers rams its head into the SUV and they say the Seinfeld bit

Jerry Seinfeld recently had an accident where he flipped his car.

I do not remember them mentioning Jerry Seinfeld. They did mention Kelsey Grammar. Are you sure they said both?

Ah, I forgot about that, turning over seinfeld and bee movie references in my head was producing nothing and I forgot to tune into the real world (A condition that happens far too often)

There is a Fraiser reference when Will Smith says I'm Listening

When the movie began, and said it was produced by "Weed Road," I thought, okay, so that pre-explains all that's about to go wrong.  Little did I know that regular gas would soon cost $6.63 a gallon (and yet be in unlimited supply, just like bullets),  that Legend has no love for his nipples, that zombies retain the decency to cover their naughty parts and are all fans of the scream sequence from The Mummy, and maybe just might listen to reason when screamed back at - "I can save you!!"

Also, Sam is Mexican, the escape plan for New York citizens is to have them airlifted to safety two by two, and there should be an "-ism" for wanting to do Mannequins.

Ritalin is Magic!

Ode:

Will doesn't know how to throw.
He must be present for it to blow.

That includes the movie, too.

Why was the gas so amazingly cheap? Did this take place in 2001?

And no, I didn't get why he poured "water" or whatever on his jacket and then put it on.

Pretty good movie, and a pretty good Rifftrax. I admit I teared up over the whole dog scene, but the riffing made it easier to take (and ruined the whole scene  :D). And man, Will Smith can act. I've seen a ton of movies about the end of humanity and what not. This was one of the better ones by far.

The rubber ducky line made me bust my gut.

Yeah, Will in the behind the scenes stuff just acts like Will, and he looks really young. But in the movie he seems really old, and acts like Hancock. But rather than thinking he's a good actor, this makes me think he's a good liar. And it's not the acting part that's lying. It's making it look like he's continuously acting from one shot to the next that's lying, and unlike some nutty Jim Carrey who stays in character, he just turns it on and off like a lightswitch. So he's lying to us. He's not really the character for any significant amount of time. Great job lying, but I find more respect for the actors who are really messed up and affected by their roles and not just playing pretend in a million dollar sandbox and cracking jokes in between takes. Will acting serious is like Luke saying, "NOOOO!" in Empire Strikes Back. It works, but he'll end up voicing Black Joker in twelve years.

Can you imagine if every single actor and actress in Hollywood was messed up that way? It wouldn't be a movie town, it'd be a huge mental and rehab clinic (I mean, way more than it already is). I realize genius sits very close to mental instability, but I've got just as much respect for folks in the craft driven mad by their work as folks who excel at their craft and manage to keep it together.

As for Will Smith, he recently converted to Scientology so there's a bit of the messed up you're looking for.  ;)

That's just a rumour actually. The point is, Will Smith is too damn silly to be a respected actor. He's just silly. In fact I find him very similar to Johh Travolta in his childlike wonderment of things. Last I checked, people still think Travolta is silly too.

He sang the same song in I Am Legend that he sang in Shark Tale, and he forced them to use his daughter to play his daughter. That's just silly, dammit.

I've noticed that the Thoughts and Favorite Lines topics have been merged in the last few movies.  I don't know if anyone else feels the same way, but I actually preferred them separated.  I haven't watched the track yet, so I just wanted to read what people thought about it, but I see people are mostly just posting quotes here, which I'd really rather hear on the track before I read them.

I'm not hardcore bitching about it, or anything, just giving my two cents, take them as you will.
Title: Re: Thoughts / Favorite Lines
Post by: bratpop on April 30, 2008, 03:37:16 PM
Typically people will mention their favorite lines when they say why they liked the track, so I don't think you could avoid quotes if you tried.
Title: Re: Thoughts / Favorite Lines
Post by: Cloake on April 30, 2008, 06:43:01 PM
Well, the main point I was trying to get across was not that I'm frantically trying to avoid quotes, but just that I liked having a topic that focused mainly on people's thoughts about the tracks, without getting too cluttered with quotes.  Again, just my opinion--not complaining or anything.

Did they? Did the riff do that? I found out later that it was Will's nepotis... DAUGHTER, I mean daughter. But no, I couldn't tell when watching the movie. I thought it was a boy that was typically girlish in that Hollywood fashion, until it squeeled and then I figured well I sure hope it's actually a girl. I think he does say "she" or "daughter" when he says he named her Marley, which is almost as dumb as Will's kids' actual names. But before that I wasn't sure.

"I guess the world just wasn't ready for the Cubs to win it all"  one of THREE Cubs riffs!

"Krusty the Deer"

"If Ingmar Bergman made a horror film"

The three singing 'Heavy' songs

"Why do you have a childhood picture of Condoleezza Rice?"

"He accidentally killed nature!"

"AH!  I have the Wild Wild West soundtrack stuck in my head!"

I loved the 'trax. The movie was quiet enough to where you could enjoy the movie simultaneously, which was pretty cool.

Most Rifftrax for me have a few chuckles, a lot of snickers and a couple of out right laughs, but when Kevin said "This is exactly how every one of my first dates went" while Will Smith is burbling "Please talk to meeee." to the female manikin in the video store, I lost it.  Completely!  My wife thought I was having a bad heart attack or something!  I'm still chuckling about it now a couple of hours later.  Wow!  This is why I buy!

Great Trax!     :highfive:

When I saw this at the theater with a couple of other people, I remarked then about how the zombies reminded me of Batboy.  They had no idea what I was referring to, being relatively stable mentally and of reasonable tastes (aside from going to see this film with me), so I had to dig it out of Wikipedia to show them.  So naturally I loved the Batboy reference in the rifftrax.

And BTW, did anybody find it interesting that Rifftrax is owned by LEGEND films, but no play on that name is made in the rifftrax commentary or in their promo verbiage for it at http://www.rifftrax.com/rifftrax/i-am-legend where they go into lengths about *other* "legends" (e.g. "Let's not get into the contentious issue of exactly who is Legend. R&B singer John Legend thinks he is Legend; the Tom Cruise movie Legend think it is Legend...")  Or did they do so and I just missed it?

Kevin's "Yes, it's just me and the Turd Hammer for the Morning Nightmare...." speach after Will "Legend of Bagger" Smith attempts to broadcast a distress/assistance call across the AM band had me rolling.  Then Mike pauses for 6 seconds before incredulously repeating "Turd Hammer", which made it all the better.
