Title: VoD onto CD/DVD
Post by: Scott M Davis on December 17, 2007, 03:32:00 PM
So I finally got everything work, got a nice Divx DVD player now, but the only way I get get any of the VoD stuff is to burn it on to a CD, but all of the rifftraxs are too big for a CD, and it won't work when I burn them onto a DVD.

Anyone help me out?

What do you mean by "it won't work" when you burn it to a DVD?

Are you burning it with the player, or with burning software?  Are you on a Mac or PC?

Burning it with the actually Divx Player, which worked fine with the activation disc. And Im on a PC.

I spent most of last night looking into it and it seems the DVD player I have, Philips DVP-642 has issues with burnt DVDs and CDs. Not to mention is optic laser has tendency to shake itself loose.

I'm gonna go through the Divx site and hunt down a worthy divx player.

I bought a couple $30 cheapies at WalMart. They don't have the DivX logo, but they have a MPEG4 logo. I've tested it and it plays DivX and XviD.

In my experience, I find the cheap DVD players tend to play more and are less stringent then more expensive DVD players.

what did you use to burn the DVD? Did you use the actually Divx Player? or something like Nero?

I just take the DivX file and burn it to a CD or DVD with Nero as a "Data Disc". When I put the disc in my DVD player it pops up a list of files on the disc. Then I just highlight the file I want to play with my remote and press enter and viola! It plays the file.

ok, every time I burn a Data DVD, it ends up failing.

CD's, no problem, but I can't fit the whole VoD catalog on a CD. they are way too big!
