So.......this dude took live footage of Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana and synced it up to make them sound shitty?

I'm confused. ???

(Now I know how other people must feel).

That was pure genius.

I especially like when the keyboardist looks like he's gearing up to pour his very soul into the music, then unleashes a few tinkly little organ notes that sound like an eight year old kid banging on the Casio demo unit at Best Buy.

heh, i found a couple of other ones. I think the Jake E. Lee is my second favorite one right behind the Santana one mainly because of Ozzy's constant clapping.

That is one of the most clever things I have seen in a long time.   They were hysterical!

I loved the sidemen when they had their moment and crappy bleeps and blarts came out.    The ozzy clapping and the smoke on the water were hilarious.

My favorite part was when the timpani player started drumming during the Santana one. I spit my coke on my monitor, I shit you not.

This reminds me of a skit I saw yeeeaaaars ago, I can't remember the show, perhaps someone will know, but someone was taking the author of a 'Easy Teach Yourself To Play Guitar' book to court because it didn't work.
And to prove his case he got in these famous guitarists as witnesses (I want to say Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, that sort of thing), and they would come in, play some great guitar and then get the 'Teach Yourself" and suddenly they would be complete crap. *plink*plonk*twang*

As i watched these last night, i laughed so hard i started crying. Too much, man! Too much! My girlfriend had to come in to see what the hell was going on. That Santana one is priceless, i'm glad that was the first one posted. And i love how Ozzy shakes his fist and make some goofy little "Grrr" sound during the Jake E. Lee clip. Awesome.

My favorite one was the saxophone dude during the Clapton video.  It comes out sounding like some MIDI saxophone.

I agree, the Metallica and Malmsteen are the best.  I thought I didn't know who Malmsteem was, but I got a trigger in my head:  Was that they guy who was gonna bring the FURY on the plane?  Heh, Yup.

I sent the Metallica one (since that's one of the few still on myspace/youtube) to a bunch of my myspace friends as a Valentines.

Hope they watch for more than two seconds!  Or they'll think I'm just sending them 'One' for no apparent reason.

Now that all the videos have been purged from YouTube, maybe this thread could be merged with this one (http://forum.rifftrax.com/index.php/topic,6385.0.html)... because these videos are just way too funny to miss! Damn you YouTube, and thank you Wired.com!

Nigel takes the time to TUNE the violin.  I love DVD's.  I can show my dad clips of this and Blues Brothers--I can be like "Oh Oh Oh, there was this scene!"  Then show the scene I was thinking of!

I would love that, Rude.  I certainly assumed I wasn't the first here to discover the Shreds--just maybe the post-YouTube method of finding them.

How does that work, combining them?  I'm all for that!

Legend! Hehe but what show was it from?

It's from French and Saunders, it's one of the side skits featuring their incidental music band Raw Sex.

Victor Lewis Smith did something like this on one of his many BBC shows, I remember his version of Hey Joe being remarkably awful  :)
