Apparently we're an eclectic bunch of guys who met at a local bar near the Bell Street Bus Station. So that's what we decided to name our band. There are a few sports nuts, sure... mostly the drummer and bass player. But our lead singer is a man of the world, who also happens to be very interested in religious institutions. As for me? Well, i like a very specific class of torpedo boat.

* Dear, fans. This album was inspired by and is dedicated to our two strongest passions: Graduate level science and the Olympics. Sixteen years ago, when Lola Anglada was in its infant stages, we made a promise to ourselves that no matter how small the venues were that we played in, we were going to play as if we were in the spotlight of Mount Olympus herself, heralding the march of great athletes and scientists as they displayed the best of human achievement to the very heavens above. We often doubted that we, an eccentric 17 piece band of grad school misfits would ever make a commercial success. But here we are today, as if by some great intergalactic magician's slight of hand we've made it. We finally have our cassettes out on the street and we want to thank all who have supported us on the journey. This album is named in honor of the the Chinese Weightlifter who, without her inspiration, this would have never been possible.

12. Tourniquet

I imagine this album to be an intropsective acoustic piece, feeding off influences of protest folk music and happier BNL-esque contemporary pop genres. The source material stems from a trip through Asia and being inspired by the ever rapidly changing political landscape.

Made to Love would be the opening single for its marketability, a bittersweet tale about a japanese escort girl who dreams of a life in a less oppressive culture. The suprise hit though would be Tourniquet, an angry ballad about a Burmese freedom fighter fighting to live amongst hostile conditions and scant medical help.

My band, Cultural Movement, and our first album "Dry Creek Valley AVA":  (album cover taken from the first Google image that came up when I typed in "cultural movement.")

This is a very personal and political piece for myself and the band.

I do think it's kind of creepy that right after "List of individuals executed in Delaware" the next page was "The Fallen."  :cue the spooky music:

These made me crack up right in front of my boss at work. I've been dying to  try this one out!

Band Name: Garuru

Album: Foot Clan

Track Listing:

1) Ypsolophidae
2) List of asteroids/99501–99600 (All the bands love to do their own take on "List of Asteroids.")
3) Guðmundur Gunnarsson
4) Maafilaafushi (Lhaviyani Atoll)
5) Referent power
6) Point Denis
7) John Grant (novelist)
8) Donigan Cumming
9) Movie Magg
10) Samuel Whittemore
11) The Skeptic (UK magazine)
12) Tomy air suspension

Hidden Track: Geometry Expressions

Garuru is a cult retro '80s band that loves to make clever pop culture references in their music. The band name (Coincidentally enough) originates from Sgt. Frog, a manga I'm convinced that only I read. :^) Everyone was shocked and amazed that we managed to slip Donigan Cumming past the censors. Every one of our concerts opens up with a rousing rendition of Referent Power, but it's Tomy air suspension that really gets the crowd going.

We're obviously a dirty hippie new wave kind of band.  Our Richard Koch track received a level of fame as a protest song on community college campuses against those horrible corrupt establishment types.

We were however sued for stealing our album title from an already released CD by Shikari.

Oiler are a Grime (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grime_%28music%29) crew from Camden.

This is their first album after Lady Sovereign convinced  Casual Records to let them record it.
Unfortunately for the members of the crew, all profits will go directly to Casual to cover the costs of the things the crew half-inched to sell off during the recording session.

I can't believe I almost missed this awesome game! Here's mine:

Artist:  Tekken.

Album: Neanderthal Interaction with Cro-Magnons

1. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
2. pcplayer
3. Distichodus petersii
4. Fujiko Takimoto
5. Christine Stix-Hackl
6. Court Funds Office
7. Rudolf Brandt
8. Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 (St. Louis Metrolink)
9. Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy
10. Idaho Statesman
11. Ken Ablack
12. Hamatar

Tekken combine their love of Germanic Industrial Death Metal with their love of gaming culture and...highways.  Their debut album (titled so in confidence over their superiority of other bands) displays assurance in all areas of musicianship.  The rousing, yet empty, opening number contrasts highly with the lofty and dark tones found in Court Funds Office.  The undoubtable highlight of the album is Hamatar, a full blooded guitar-a-thon lasting over 15 minutes.

Artist:  Altshausen
Album:  Academy Award for Best Original Musical

1. Baron Calverley
2. Lupinine
3. Frank Dobson
4. Raber's Almanac
5. Boston College Media Research and Action Project
6. Four Crosses

Each song on this six song EP from the German speed-pop-punk band clocks in at less than two minutes, but what they lack in quantity, they make up for in energy.  Rolling Stone dubbed them "a hell-spawn love child of The Dead Kennedy's, Blink-182, and Amy Grant".  The female lead singer hits the high notes like no other punk band dares.  The first single, "Four Crosses", is a heady ballad that meditates on the nature of war, love, and food poisoning.  Tracks "Baron Calverley" and "Frank Dobson" are the lead singer's diatribes against the titular former lovers she has had, and how she wants to eviscerate them in front of their pets.

10. Idiga
11. United-TI
12. Shilo

Review from elitistsnobsonline.com
Although Allan Campbell is one of the boldest, strangest, and most radically deconstructionist avant-garde composer in music today, his expressive social conscience makes his music relatable for the common man. *  Though obviously influenced by the greats - Dave Smith, Pere Ubu and Laurie Anderson come to mind - he takes the established genre of artificial postmodernist salad-bowl-style music synthesis and adds to it a unique Texan perspective.  His latest work, Trusted Network Connect, conveys his hopeful message - a sermon on the unity of mankind, and the ability of information technology to bring about the political realization of that unity.  The tracks "United-TI" (United Tech Israel) and "Shilo" (referring to an Israeli settlement on the West Bank) provide a fitting denouement - passionate and moving while remaining static and emotionally detached through the use of digitally-enhanced acoustic resonance at the natural frequency of the interior of the Dome of the Rock.  This brilliantly dull piece of musical mathematics nearly sent this reviewer into a coma.  5 stars (out of 100 possible)!

* No, it doesn't.

10. High Level/Footner Lake Water Aerodrome

From the All-Music Guide
Banking in the U.K. are the masterminds behind the anarcho-capitalist art punk scene that has been taking Britain's college-age youth by storm these past few years.  Their sophomore effort, November, is not too serious a departure from their debut, Deregu-volution, in terms of style or lyrical themes.  They're still rockin' it hard with their audacious, guitar-driven song sound.  Indeed, some of the arrangements - particularly in the three-song medley that concludes the album - the transition from the haunting, forboding Gregorian chant-inspired spookiness of "Daet, Camarines Norte" to the ideological centerpiece of the album, "Selection Sort," to the two part, "Marquee Moon"-esque twelve-minute jam "High Level/Footnever Lake Water Aerodrome," - are even faster, ballsier, and guitar-tastic than their first effort..  Overall, though these lads aren't likely to change much, they certainly are growing.

La Pensée Straight are a pair of lesbian folk songwriters who think they're a lot cleverer than they really are.  Their latest album, the bizarrely titled Hermon Atkins MacNeil, is a pretentious, self-indulgent, nigh unlistenable bore.  Don't buy it - it stinks.

9.   Bila Tserkva
10. Mango (CN)

Audi R-Zero is a very European avantgarde accordion-rock group.  They aren't very popular.

Artist: Kennebunk, Maine
Album: Azad Brigade

1.   Zero Tolerance Magazine
2.   Wuestneiopsis georgiana
3.   James Landale
4.   Rabiola
5.   Bachke Rehna Re Baba
6.   905
7.   Nagai Station
8.   Water Polo at the 1984 Summer Olympics
9.   Green Bean Casserole
10. Roundstone, County Galway
11. Madiswil
12. John Loder, 2nd Baron Wakehurst

Kennebunk, Maine consists of a bunch of silly guys making musically relevant (or perhaps not) noise carefully constructed to make it sound like they're not actually trying.  Basically, they're like Ween during their early years.  Here, they add a bit of an Eastern, Bollywood-esque flair (plus a quirky cover of John Entwistle's "905") to their usual assortment of eclectically-influenced fart jokes.

Album: Fisker Karma

2. Sharaf Ahmad Muhammad Masud
3. Gardiner Street
4. Rama chandramara
5. Deputy First Minister
6. Downtown 81
7. Fasting girls
8. Value shop
9. Comrade Turbinski
10. Red-rumped Myzomela

No record labels thought that "Death Metal Ska" was a viable sound or genre, so Session Road had to release their debut album independently.  And while their album sound is something to behold itself, one must see their live shows to fully appreciate the band.  Picture the antics of GWAR with the visuals of Cirque du Soleil, then mix in some chanting monks plus a full orchestra, and offer up full audience participation during their hit song "Red-Rumped Myzomela" climax, and you've got one hell of a concert experience.

Artist: Comporellon
Album: MLM

1. Lovat
2. Force the Hand of Chance
3. Munji Language
4. Femme Fatale
5. Slippage
6. List of Statutory Rules of Northern Ireland, 1998
7. Wetlook
8. Bac de Roda
9. Lentinula
10. History of Liberia
11. Botanical Garden
12. Give A Little Nibble

Best I can tell, Comporellon is a band that's comprised of people who love Roman Numerals.  They have three primary songwriters in the band:  one who is primarily concerned with various sexual fetishes, one who is trying to emulate a Byrds-era David Crosby circa 1967 with such songs as "Force the Hand of Chance" and "Botanical Garden," and one who is a history professor.  It makes for a rather disjointed album, although "Wetlook" was a surprise hit in Finland.

Revenge of the Vampire is an avant-garde death metal parody band whose songs cover subjects not generally found in death metal songs with all of the melodramatic flair characteristic of the genre.  With songs about football stadiums, Frank Zappa albums, Catholic organizations, and Italian people, this album follows the formula to a T.

Hidden track: Bess Truman

"OTMCM" is an intense metal group who's songs often reflect the lead singers time in various crime families in his youth before a failed career in the US Coast Guard and a misstep where he thought he'd heard the voice of God and became a religious broadcaster.  The band draws much of its influence from the past, comparing the fall of many of the leaders in organized crime to the futility of dictatorships to fail, not to mention the fear of a new Neo-Nazi movement to create the perfect Aryan race of female actresses by modifying important protiens with genetics.

Also the drummer once saw a picture of Bess Truman and really got the hots for her.

"Return of the Mullet" is gonna be played at wedding receptions for the next 20 years.

"Rotary Connection" is about the modern man struggling with demons trapped in a touch tone hell that is customer service.

"Captive Witness" is a drinking song about the Designated Driver being the only one arrested.

"Margarita Island (disambiguation)"  was going to feature a guest appearance by Jimmy Buffet but the drummer assaulted him with a broken Corona bottle when he was in studio, so we got Marilyn Manson instead.  I think you'll like how it turned out.

Forged in the wasteland better known as Lakuntza, Torsional Vibration climbed to the top of the techno scene in 2000 with their debut album, Campbell Rose. The band's latest album, Torsional Vibration, joins Planetfesto's deafening howls with crushing drums to produce an effort bursting at the seams with spine-tingling classics. With standout tracks like "Realms of Arda," look for Torsional Vibration to be a major factor in the techno landscape for years to come.
