For those of you who haven't heard, there's a Justice League of America movie directed by George Miller (Mad Max, the Babe movies) scheduled for 2010. It's been rumored as CGI then live action, it's been confirmed and then denied that Christian Bale and Brandon Routh would show up as Batman and Superman respectively, and despite it all there's really been no concrete evidence about anything.

Well, according to IESB and "the trades"
A few months ago the IESB brought you the news that both Justin Long and Adam Brody had been brought in to read for the role of the Flash, a few days later the Trades confirmed our scoop.
Today I received a phone call from a source who has some pretty close ties to people involved in the production and gave us a tidbit, Wally West/The Flash will be played by Adam Brody.
By the time that I received the tip, it was too late in the day to reach the anybody from the studio for comment, we had been hearing similar rumblings for the last few days but no confirmation from anybody at WB at this time.
The other name we are hearing was pretty much locked as of a couple of weeks ago was Common as John Stewart/The Green Lantern. We confirmed this with multiple sources.
Also, remember those rumors that claimed that Teresa Palmer has been cast as Wonder Woman? Not true, Ms. Palmer has not been cast as Princess Diana, our sources are telling us that she has been cast as Talia al Ghul, daughter of Ra’s al Ghul.
One thing is for certain, actors have been sworn to secrecy and have been warned not to reveal their involvement even to their closest friends and relatives.
Adam Brody as The Flash (and as Matt Sydal apparently, I couldn't find a picture of him doing anything remotely athletic)
Common as Green Lantern (a pretty good choice, actually)
Namless Putrid Pretty Skinny Blonde as Talia (thank Christ she wasn't Wonder Woman)
I trust George Miller, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will all work out for the best in 2010. That gives Adam Brody 2+ years to stop looking like that.
Oh well, we all know who should've been cast as the Flash.

okay, so you see this guy

say you want to cast him in the Justice League movie. Who can he play? How about Booster Gold? Maybe Speedy/Arsenal in a Green Arrow related cameo?
welp
how about THE FUCKING BATMAN
Today, IESB has gotten solid conformation that Armie Hammer has been cast in Justice League. I know you're thinking, "WHO?" Armie Hammer, short for Armand Hammer not to confused with Arm & Hammer the popular "do-everything" household agent. But yes, Armie Hammer has joined the cast as none other the Dark Knight himself, Batman.
Clocking in at 6 foot 5 inches tall, Hammer certainly has the stature for the role, plus as an added bonus he's an amateur magician...I kid you not. If you're unfamiliar with his work he was in last weeks Desperate Houswives as Barrett.
THEY CAST A GUY NAMED AFTER ARM AND HAMMER AS THE BATMAN
Additional credits include:
Spring Breakdown (2008) (post-production) .... Abercrombie Boy

Common as Green Lantern (a pretty good choice, actually)

When did The Green Lantern become an African-American?
Since around the time Hulk Hogan became capable of defeating Shawn Michaels?
-
Arch Hall Jr. as Batman. Excellent choice.
-
I kinda like Adam Brody as The Flash, though Michael Rosenbaum would've been my choice as well. I think if the execs are thinking superhero "diversity" then Common as GL is as good as anyone.
You've got to be kidding about Batman though, right? I'd take anyone else in that picture over the preppy douche guy. Even the fucking horse.
-
The horse IS Arnie. And what's you're problem with Horses as superheroes?
"It's people like you who mhuhuhuade mhehehe!"
-
Are we SURE he's Batman? He looks like an Aquaman to me..

Oh....that's helpful. ::)

John Stewart is one of many Green Lanterns. Get with the program, man.

He makes a pretty good superhero, and a true asset to the Justice League, but I get annoyed when his Earth-saving work causes a hiatus for the Daily Show.
Seriously, I asked pretty much the same question when I saw him on the Justice League cartoon, but I wasn't enough of a comic book nerd at the time to know that Green Lantern is a title and job description handed down to multiple people.

Classic. That's a quality gag. :D

Wait wait wait, Talia?
Talia is a waify blonde?
WHaaaaa?! I thought Talia was olive tone brunette - like Moroccan or Egyptian almost. Blonde?! Really? Is this going to be like Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane?
-
If they can convince themselves that Alba could play a natural blond, they can convince themselves that a waify blond can play talia.

I only know GL from JL so i didn't know that he wasn't always black until I saw the Superfriends cartoon.

You want a good Batman? This guy might work:
Oh well. I guess that I'll just have to settle for him playing Hal in New Frontier.

I dunno about that. Rosenbaum's voice acting as The Flash on Justice League was top-shelf, to be sure, but I think people are too used to him as Lex Luthor for casting him live-action to work.

I sense an ass whuppin' is needed here

I heard about this too.
I dunno. The higher ups HAVE to realize that having a nudie model play comicdom's symbol of female power is a major risk- maybe they figure she's worth it. Maybe she's a good actress who just hasn't gotten a chance!
Oooooorrrrr maybe they have no fudging idea what they're doing.

When did The Green Lantern become an African-American?
When some PC colostomy bag decided to racejack the GL character. (For the uninitiated, racejacking is when a traditionally white character is turned into something else to please the PC crowd, most of whom don't have the drive or talent to create their own characters so they steal others. The worst case of this was in the movie of "the wild, wild west.)
-
You have no idea what you're talking about. John Stewart was created in 1971.

-
Yeah, and they didn't pretend for the toon that he WAS Hal Jordan, either. Overall I consider John the most boring of the lanterns, but overall he fits into the JL.

Actually, I think it'd be interesting to see who would play a black Superman or Batman.

Erik King (from Dexter) would make a great Batman; unfortunately, he'd be a terrible Bruce Wayne. :)

Remember this? It's always funny to see what could have been. Although, I still would like to see Common as GL.

I think Idris Elba would make an awesome Batman and Bruce Wayne but I'm part of 'the PC crowd' so what do I know?
-
Wow. The bulk of Armie Hammer's career happened between when this thread started and when it was bumped.
(Possibly the entirety, if he never lives Lone Ranger down.)
-
And I certainly wouldn't consider Teresa Palmer a no-name blonde anymore. I really enjoyed her in Warm Bodies.
-
I'm always stumped about who would make a good Wonder Woman. That will be the biggest hurdle to making a decent JL movie.
-
Jane Russell.
EDIT: Or Ava Gardner.
-
What if we gave Mila Kunis human growth hormones?

by the time they get around to making it, time travel will have been invented, so we can put linda carter in it.

What about this girl?:
She's Brian Williams' daughter. She's on Lena Dunham's show Girls. If she bulked up a bit, I think she could do it.

That Olivia Wilde picture out there is good enough for me to be on board.
