Title: What's in your DVD player?
Post by: Pak-Man on October 10, 2006, 05:14:34 PM
Just a "getting to know you" question. As of your reading this post, what's in your DVD player of choice? Mine has disc 3 of the Weird Al Show. (some great commentaries!)

My upstairs DVD player has MST3K - The Atomic Brain and the downstairs has the Stuart Gordon/Mamet flick Edmund.

I just removed X-Men from my player a moment ago. I think I may put in Godzilla: Final Wars as my next viewing. If you count my PS2 which I also use for DVD's, I have Yakuza in there right now.

I'm a huge fan of old Hollywood movies, so at the moment, I have "A Letter to Three Wives" in there.  Joseph Mankiewicz was a genius.

I recently found a copy of Beavis and Butthead in "Innocence Lost" and "Chicks N' Stuff", and it's currently occupying my crappy Toshiba DVD player.

I had to buy it after realizing that my favorite episode was censored! MTV's(Paramount's) official word is that some of the original versions are gone; lost to the ages, if you will. APPLESAUCE I say!

They just didn't want to put it on DVD. The episode in question is called "Dreaming", and it features Beavis and Butthead in the most hilarious dream situations known to man! The part that's missing from my recently purchased Mike Judge Collection is the part where Butthead begins the Brady Bunch theme song, tailored to himself, of course, and Beavis joins in.

Here's the story
of a guy named Butthead
who was horny for three very lovely girls...

Then along came
a guy named Beavis...
he was horny too!
heh heh heh

"Hey Beavis, we live in a house with three chicks!"

 ;D

I just removed Futurama Vol 4 Disc 3, I wanted to watch the Star Trek ep. with commentary while I was waiting for my Point Break re-author to finish burning. Then I tested PB to see if it burned ok before I watch the goodness.

Van Wilder.

But it's in my broken DVD player that I keep in the garage.  The movie was a present so I can't throw it out, but whenever some one wants to watch it the disk is conveniently misplaced.

Right at this second it's "The Tick" disk 1. I watched "Tick and the Uncommon Cold" last night. Before that it was "It Came From Outer Space"?  At least I think that's what it's called. It's about a mummy that's looking for his jewels.

I'm depressingly anal, and actually replace my discs in their cases when I'm done watching them.

It's been rumored for a while now. Halloween is being remade by Rob Zombie right now, and there is a prequel to A Nightmare on Elm St in the works.

Eraserhead.
Oh how I love David Lynch.

That reminds me of a joke in Squirm.  When the mother serves dinner "I hope you like Eraserhead chicken", or something to that effect.  I've seen Squirm four times, and it occured to me the last time that not only did I JUST get that joke, that I was probably the only person I know that WOULD get it.

Just got Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels from Blockbuster. Guy Ritchie kicks ass. (Except for that Madonna movie.. which I didn't bother to see.)

I gotta say, I thought Lock, Stock was a big steaming pile of horse manure.  I hated it's attitude, the way the roles were performed, its attempts at humour, its "mockney" accents, its eye on the international market, and its "aren't I so flashy?" direction.

Y'see.  I didn't like it.   ;D

I loved Snatch, but Lock, Stock just doesn't do it for me. Bland. What's up with Guy's new movie that I can't remember the name of? Is it not getting released?

Saw 2.

I'll use this opportunity to get my problem(s) with this film off my chest. I watched the first two back-to-back and thoroughly enjoyed the first one. The second one, on the other hand...
First up, it's absolutely riddled with plot holes. Any film that requires one character to act in a certain very specific way to trigger off an event that will affect another character in another extremely specific way, which will bring about the terribly clever ending, needs to do it in a really cool way to not have all decent film fans calling foul.

A sequel with plot holes? To hell you say.  ;)

All good points though, those traps were pretty stupid. People race after the 'key' and then are surprised when *gasp* the key was booby trapped?!
