Title: Meet the Feebles
Post by: theplutoniumboss on August 16, 2007, 12:24:55 PM
I think the movie Meet the Feebles needs to be riffed

it's like a R rated version of the Muppet show, with allot of  puppet violence, sex, and drug abuse.  this movie is cheezy that its been in for a good riffing. what more could u want in a horrible movie?

I can't believe Peter Jackson would make a movie like this back in the 80's. And yes, its the same Peter Jackson who directed King Kong

Hah, no way I could ever see Mike getting through this.

Your definition of "horrible" differs from mine.  I love Meet the Feebles.  It's hilariously twisted and quite well made.

You've apparently never seen Bad Taste or Braindead.

Braindead (aka dead alive) was a pretty funny  movie, especially with the kung-fu priest

Actually I usually say "I can't believe this is the same Peter Jackson who made Meet the Feebles and Bad Taste and Braindead!" when referencing King Kong and LOTR.

Heh.  Same here, though I think his first foray into "respectable" cinema, Heavenly Creatures, is still perhaps the one I can't really reconcile him with.

No.

Well, let me rephrase that.

Hell no.

Look, there's a good number of people on this site who are rabid Rifftrax fans who won't watch the Rifftrax of the Grudge or 300 because of the graphic nature of those films. Do you think that they're going to be willing to buy the Rifftrax for this, a film that is exponentially more graphic? For that matter, what exactly do you expect Mike and Kevin to be joking about during, say, the fly reporter eating offal scene or the Sodomy number?  I think you're more likely to see Mike riffing The Killing Fields than you would be to see him riff this.

I can't see this one being riffed and not for any reasons mentioned above.  Talk about hard to find.  I ordered one off Amazon and it took almost 2 1/2 months to get to me.  Granted that was quite a while ago but still.  I don't think I've ever seen one in stores.

I do like HC though. DEAD ALIVE (as it is known in the states) was the reason I bought a laser disc player. The VHS was $100 priced for rental but the LD was only $40. Granted I did have to spend $500 on the player but eventually it paid for itself.

I thought Heavenly Creatures was pretty terrific, though it's not the sort of thing I'd watch over and over again.  Took me ages to realize the chubby girl grew up to be Charlie's stalker in Two and a Half Men.

I gots to get me a region 2 copy of Braindead one of these days.  Dead Alive is apparently missing some key scenes (i.e., just exactly how do Void's legs end up getting separated from each other?)

I think I ordered my copy from a Canadian store, back in the time where it wasn't available in the US. Since then though, it's become a bit more common.  I've even seen it in Best Buy from time to time.

It is in desperate need of a special edition. I have the disc from Dead Alive and it is a freaking mess.

One a side note while looking around for Feebles stuff there is a PJ fansite hosted on the onering.net that has one of my old band's (The Feebles) cover of the main theme to Bad Taste!

http://tbhl.theonering.net/badtaste/media.html for the page and
http://tbhl.theonering.net/badtaste/multimedia/Feebles_Bad_Taste_Remake.mp3 for the song!

Speaking of Pete Jackson, I just watched the HD version of Frighteners.  I liked the movie, but the "making of" is crazy! It's almost four hours long.  It's pretty interesting though.  Yes, I watched it all.   ;D

Wait a minute, Alia Atreides is on Two and a Half Men?

I can't figure out which I dislike more: the fact that he referred to Peter Jackson as "the guy who directed King Kong" or that he's surprised that a Peter Jackson film would be horrible. ::)

It hurt me to watch even a few seconds of Jackson's Kong remake. It was that bad. Still, it could be worse. This guy could have said that Jackson's film was "a remake of the 1976 film".... :P

I had the original LD with the 4 hour doc. It wasn't bad.  He loves doing those type of things. When Don May Jr. of Synapse Films was still working with Elite Entertainment (the first company to actually spend money and restore Night of the Living Dead and many other forgotten horror flicks) he told me they wanted to put out Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles but they couldn't come to an agreement because PJ also wanted big ass documentaries to go along with them.

Yeah, I thought the on set footage was really interesting, as you got to see how a film crew works.  It's a shame that those two others weren't released though, I might've bought them otherwise.

I think this movie deserved to be riff to Hell. If not by Mike and the guys, then by iRiffers everywhere.

BTW, any chance the Riff Bros. people can sell their riffs here?

It’s tied up in massive amounts of litigation. Lisa Henson REALLY hates it.

Likely never happening. Anchor Bay bought the rights 15 years ago. Never released it due to this

It’s very similar to why we never get Macross stuff here, because on top of the alegedly recently resolved Japanese rights, Harmony Gold sues anyone who trie to put out the stuff they haven’t licensed (though it’s reacently been brought into question whether they actually own anything due it the Japanese case. This question Likely will not be answered any time soon)

Yes, I admit the film got a lot of hates, and yes, Rifftrax will never released a VOD riff of it...nor will they got any reason to do so.

Which is why iRiffs were invented, so people can be free to riff the movie (found a copy on YouTube BTW) and sell their commentaries while doing so.

No one answered my question: any chance that the Riff Bros. will sell their commentaries and VODs stuff here?

That will depend on Rifftrax getting around to giving people with iriffs accounts the ability to upload new videos again.  It's going on 4 years now since anyone's been able to upload and sell anything new, and no hint that this is going to change anytime soon, or maybe at all.  :(
