Title: Does mike really live in San Diego now?
Post by: BlackbeardonGuitar on October 10, 2006, 07:06:05 AM
I was listening to a podcast and heard he moved to San Diego?  Is this permanent?  It was good to always have him around in MN he'd show up every once and a while and do a book signing or stuff.  Yargh.   San Deigo?  There's no snow there!!!

I'd say it's permanent, seeing as how he's now the Chief Content Producer for Legend Films, which is based in San Diego.

It would be kinda hard to be the Chief Content Producer of a company and not be near the home office!  ;D

Confirm.

Its premanent. He's talked in other interviews that he's packed up the fam and moved them to San Deigo and they are adjusting, but enjoying the west coast.

btw, doesnt San Deigo mean a "Whales Va"...oh wait, thats somthing else  ;)

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct.

Ron Burgundy: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.

Veronica Corningstone: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?

Ron Burgundy: No. No.

Veronica Corningstone: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.

Ron Burgundy: Agree to disagree.

I love it! A classic movie!

EXACTLY. Mike has reached that "certain age" where you finally say "The hell with it. I never want to shovel the walk again. We're moving South!"

I personally have always lived in Florida and would like to move to Minnesota (where my family is originally from and I still have family there! Alexandria represent!) some day....is that odd?

Small world.  I grew up near that particular part of Minne-soh-ta.

You might want to rethink that move to Minnesota.  It's October 12 and we got our first little blast of snow and freezing temps.  I've got a sister in Texas and she won't come near Iowa outside of the heat of summer.
But...regarding Mike, you can take the boy out of the midwest but you can't take the midwest out of the boy.  I enjoyed the two references to Iowa in his Point Break riffs.

I personally love the cold weather and the snow.  The warmer states can have their "sunshine" and their "balmy pleasant weather" and their "year round golf".  Seriously, can you get a day off work in California because your car's engine block is literally frozen?

hey Starfighter, I take it you're an Iowan too.  Iowa REPRESENT BOYEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Ok, enough of that ridiculousness.  I'm actually in Rodchester, MN right now for a Co-op.  And yes, it's bastardly cold and even snowed a little the other night.

Yeah well i am going to be completely honest with all of you....I have NEVER seen snow....I know...it's sad. I have lived in Florida all my life and yes I travel but for some reason whenever I go ANYWHERE it isn't cold. Like I went to a family reunion in Minnesota in 03 at Peters Sunset beach resort which was awesome...but I went in the summer.

So that may be one of the reasons I want to move to Minnesota I dunno.

It seems like there are a lot of people from Minnesota on these boards though?

Saucy, you might want to just try a winter visit before you commit.  Although I think the winters tend to be milder than they use to be, what with global warming and all that.
We can't really even complain about our snowfall in the midwest without one of those lake effect storms dumping truckloads on New York state.  I think I heard that western NY got 20" last night. Damn those Great Lakes!!
Now all Mike has to worry about are mudslides, freeway shootings, forest fires, earthquakes, tsunamis and California's eventual slide into the ocean.

Makes sense, since MST3K got its start in Minnesota.

Being a current resident of Minnesota, I find it depressing that right when I start becoming a huge Mike fan, he moves to California.  I was all excited to stalk him and what not, maybe invite him over to watch a Rifftrax.  That would be strange... watching a Rifftrax with Mike.  If he started talking during the movie, would you tell him to be quiet?

EDIT: SP, as some one so kindly pointed out.

Should I assume that all Minnesotians are MST3K and Rifftrax fans? I guess so.

But yeah I love Minnesota in the summer.....not sure how I would react to the winters.

It's just like the summer, only colder and snowier.

You change from complaining about the Twins to complaining about the Vikings.  Instead of discussing fishing with friends and coworkers, you discuss the Wild's powerplay.

Shoveling snow isn't horrible, it's certainly less time consuming than mowing or weeding the garden.

I should point out that Kevin Murphy is still in Minnesota.  He hosts events here and there.  A friend of mine has met him.
