Title: Harmonix Rock Band!
Post by: MrTorso on June 23, 2007, 07:28:00 PM
Finally some pics are out of the Rock Band guitars!

The strats look great and the addition of "solo" buttons is an awesome touch!  This is going to be such a geek toy but I can't wait.

Hopefully there won't be any lag issues in this game. That would just suck.

Also, is this game gonna be compatible with the Guitar Hero guitars? I don't want to waste money on controllers I already have.

Yeah they said in an interview on IGN that the controller from Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360 will be compatible, but i myself and still tempted to get that Stratocaster.  And they dont really have an update yet about pricing for each of the "controllers" but i do hope that its not going to be super expensive.

I will still get the Rock Band guitars for the solo frets!  A friend and I have talked about having those extra buttons since GH 1 came out.

There is not going to be a version for the PS2 and right now there is no way to use a PS2 guitar on the PS3. The only adapter out there is so limited that it is not worth even trying it (no hammer ons/pull offs, no tilt).

I say removable faceplates on the controllers or bust.

My impression of that video is that the developers set up a beta version in the broom closet for a little jam session.  I must say, it looks like a lot of fun, but the game is going to cost a fortune for all those instruments.

With the game play very much like Guitar Hero and the fact that you can play through the game solo as either guitar or drums or vocals I would pay "Steel Battalion" prices or even higher for the peripherals.

New article at IGN and some new songs :

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/801/801498p1.html

Let's see if Harmonix and MTV can keep their promises about downloadables (100 songs in the first year) unlike Red Octane and Activision (most downloadable songs of any 360 game my ass).

Yeah I guess it was from an old build and that the G'n'R song might not be on the game.

I still don't know which system I will get the game for. I have more friends with 360s so I'll probably go with that version.

I'm going to be pissed when this turns from an "it'll be out on the Wii!" that at the last minute is more likely "but without online" and eventually is "and not on the Wii".

If they do kill the Wii version of this I may actually be forced into buying a PS3 or 360.

Here are the songs that they have confirmed:

The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," David Bowie's "Suffragette City," The Hives' "Main Offender," Weezer's "Say it Ain't So," Nirvana's "In Bloom," Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper," Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," and Mountain's "Mississippi Queen."

and here is the whole article

I've always thought that the songs for GH1 were better than GH2....but I always play GH2, it's more fun.

The set list for Rock Band is already better than the Rock the 80's set.

Definently...but it could see me getting caried away with the ending bonus and Townshend the axe...which would not be good for my bank account

When they first did Guitar Hero no one wanted to participate and then the game took off. I don't mind the set list for GH 2 as much as some people do. Now Harmonix is owned by MTV/Viacom and EA, who already have tons of licensing pull with the music labels. The music is only going to get better. Also a lot more master tracks!

Title: Re: Harmonix Rock Band!
Post by: Hank_Peters on July 08, 2007, 10:07:55 PM
Personally, I don't like the idea of more master tracks. When you're playing the game, half of the fun comes from thinking that you're actually playing guitar. In my opinion, when the lead singer doesn't sound quite like Ozzy, and your tone doesn't really feel like SRV, it feels more like you're doing it yourself. When I play along with master tracks, it suddenly becomes air guitar with a broom.

Out of all the songs Metallica could give them, they gave them Enter Sandman? I sure hope that they'll put Ride the Lightning as a downloadable album, because the Black Album is piss poor in my opinion.  Major points for Tom Sawyer though, I've been waiting for that tune since the first guitar hero.

I am excited about Tom Sawyer too even if it is a cover. Should be loads of fun!

Also Harmonix is promising new downloads EVERY WEEK!!!  Single songs, multi song packs and FULL albums from artists! Can anyone say "guitar hero what"??

I also have to thank my wife for being so understanding about the amount of money that is going to be spent this November. She said it the best. "I won't think of Rock Band as being a $200-$300 video game but rather as another $200-$300 video game SYSTEM"

I keep hearing people jeering guitar hero now, and it's usually the "guitar hero lick my nuts!" and "fuck guitar hero" kind of smack. And it's not coming from the people who are pissed that Konomi didn't cash in on GuitarMania for America. It's from veteran Guitar Hero players. Jesus, it's not as if some up and running company came up with Rock Band and decided to bankrupt Harmonix, it's the same developer! It's not as if this is a whole new game either. It's just Guitar Hero duct taped to SingStar and Donkey Konga.

This looks pretty fun to me, I am trying to snag a cheapish copy of Guitar Hero 2 to see if I like the format. My flatmate has an Xbox 360 and a PS2, so I should be able to 'borrow' one.

You should try reading the Guitar Hero forums. It is headache inducing. Everyone seems to be roughly 11 years old.  My favorite quote from that board so far is :

Quote
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Rock Band suxs, GH FO' Life!!!!!

There also probably wouldn't be so much GH bashing if they came even remotely close to fulfilling their promises about GH2 on the 360. The DLC is pathetic.  I will still be getting GH3 in October and I am just hoping that all the refinements that were made between GH 1 and 2 don't get lost with the new game.

I'm curious to see what happens with the downloadable content for the Wii version since it's not exactly sporting a decent sized hard drive.  Maybe they'll use the USB ports for a hard drive?

I definitely can't wait.  But I guess Guitar Hero 80's can tide me over until the Wii version of GH3 comes out to tide me over until Rock Band.

Is it because MTV bought Harmonix? I felt a little sad when I heard that, but I love GH and plan to buy pretty much whatever they put out. If you like GH, how could you not be excited about Rock Band? Maybe the whiners are mad because Harmonix "sold out" or something?

A ton of the children that post on the boards and that are bitching about Rock Band believe that Rock Band is "ripping off" Guitar Hero. They have no idea that exact same people that created GH are the creators of RB. Even Activision big shots said in regards to Rock band "that there will be imitators"!

You know, back in 2005 before the game actually came out, those boards had some good people. John Tam was nice and didn't have his head up his ass, and the guitarist from Dirst would answer questions about the making of the game. A lot of the people there were older than they were now, and spent their time tinkering with the controllers and making cool mods (a favorite of mine was when someone rigged up a toy Elmo guitar to play Guitar Hero). Now it's full of "COMON WHERE'S MASTER OF PUPPETS" and "CLICK HERE FOR ZEPPLIEN" (with spelling errors). There was only one campaign that did anything, and I think it was just one dude who did this whole "Buckethead in GH2" thing. The whole place just reeks now. It stinks!

The forums over at Rock Band are so much better. Sure there are noob posts all over the place and some level of fanboyism but it is nothing like the Red Octane boards. Harmonix guys post stuff all the time and they moderate and ban when needed. I also read that Red Octane was deleting posts about Rock Band if they were positive. Not sure how true that was though.

My uncle was up there and said that it was amazing! He said that that video really doesnt show all of the cool things that they have done with this game. (mostly because of the camera work). The way that they have blended all 4 parts together and with the master tracks it makes it sound so much better than GH2.  We are going to be some of the first in line to get our own copies of this game. So hard to wait!

Heh, well while surfing through the official forums I saw a post from seanhmx saying that you won't be penalized for swearing in a song they have had to censor.

And it appears there is a playlist generation and saving system.

RB definitely has the edge over GH3 for big names and masters.

Yeah I don't know how big the actual songs are but I am guessing 5 megs a minute? 4 channels, decent bit rate? Mono? each instrument isn't going to need stereo effects are they?

The guitar hero 2 360 downloads were around 10mbs per song.  So for Rockband I would assume it would have to be slightly bigger because of the drum tracks.

Yeah a GH track would be 3 channels right? 2 Guitars, and everything else, hang on I think I miscounted for Rock Band,.....

Vocals, 2 Guitars, Drums, Everything else, ok 5 Channels, but I don't think that would make much difference with my size estimate.
Title: Re: Harmonix Rock Band!

Don't forget that each track except vocals also has a practice mode so that is another 3 soundtracks per song per instrument.

I guess it could be a software/hardware process that slows the songs down. I just assumed it was seperate audio tracks for each of the speeds.

I guess it could be, it's just I would have thought that there should definitely be enough horsepower there to do it on the console itself, on GH 2 the practice room was just a texture so it wasn't like it had to do anything else at the time.

Yeah I can see if you had to buy a console on top of the game bundles how you would be hesitant. It is coming out for the PS2 as well. Though I don't think you would get the DLC .

Well i would hope that there would be a few more games that would convince you to purchase a 360.  They have a lot of exciting games coming out for the Christmas Season.  Mass Effect, Rock Band, GHIII, Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, and Bioshock was just released.  So many games, so little time to play them all.

I would probably get Bioshock and GH3.  Dead Rising seemed good too.  Other than that, I haven't seen too much that I would buy.  But I also have to consider the PS3.  It comes down to what system exclusive games will be coming in the future.  I'm not aware of too many that I would want at this point, but I do know that whatever comes from the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus people will be for PS3.

Game Informer has a nice video of a bunch of songs played single player.

http://media.gameinformer.com/downloads/downloads2014/movies/2007/rock/rockmontage.wmv

So we can add, Lip Sync Data to the file size, possibly some movement data too, plus in learn to fly the audience joins in the song, so that could be another audio track too.

From G4 & MTV.com

"The many arms of the Multiplayer blog reach many sectors of MTV. Today we’ve got some inside scoop on the pricing info for “Rock Band,” a game that many people are expecting, but that so many people are expecting to be expensive.

We’ve been told by our corporate chiefs that, actually, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will launch on November 23 at a cost of $169.99. That package will include the game, one guitar, a mic and a drum kit.

The surprise twist? The PS2 version of “Rock Band,” once thought to be scheduled for 2008, will actually ship this year. The full PS2 package ships December 10 for $159.99.

The PS2 and PS3 guitars will be wireless. The 360 one will be wired. A wireless 360 guitar will be available at a later date, those MTV people tell us."

hmmm.  No word on the Wii version?  It was supposed to come out the same time as the PS2 version.  That's what the rumors were anyway.  Hope they didn't decide against it.

I'm sure a lot of people will be playing this for a long time, if MTV keeps up the promise of new songs and albums every week.  I was so pissed with GHII and how they didnt keep up with their promise of new music. As long as more and more music is coming ill keep playing :)

I must have just missed the memo on that. I had believed all along that it was going to be wireless like what GHIII is going to have. or have they changed that as well?

Certainly is going to be one available, I don't know offhand if it's with the standard bundle. There will be one for Rock Band for the 360, just sold seperately.

Now that we know the price (well for people like me, we have some idea) the next important thing is the cost of the DLC.

The Strat will be wired for the 360 in the bundle and presumably there will be a wireless version down the road. Microsoft's wireless is proprietary and costs a pretty penny and Harmonix didn't want to add to the cost of the bundle. GH3 has the distinction of having the very first wireless peripheral  for the 360 so there has to be some truth to the cost and willingness of MS to let people do wireless. The 360 bundle of Rock Band is also going to include a USB hub so that all the instruments can be plugged in.

Yeah.  If there are 45 songs in the game (assuming that the 30 or so bonus tracks don't count in the unending setlist) and you assume that every song is about 4 minutes long on average, that makes the total playtime of the unending setlist about 3 hours long.  If you include the bonus tracks you're talking more like 5 hours.

I'll probably buy it just to have the chance to play the New Pornos or Pixies tracks.  If I get the PS2 version, I've already got two guitars and a mike, so I'm just out the drum kit, whenever they get around to releasing that by itself.

Someday I'll be able to enjoy online play and DLC.  Just not this year.

A heads up:

Firstly, a confirmed thing: Many Best Buys and Walmarts are receiving demo units of Rock Band with the guitars and the drums (no mike though), so if you're anxious to play the game, you may want to run by the local big box place.

Secondly, I'm seeing reports that a number of stores are receiving retail copies of Rock Band as well and a few of these units have been accidentally sold. And while some folks are reporting that no, the idiots sold you their demo copy, others are reporting that everything is there in the box. It's a big YMMV, but someone may get very lucky...

The demo kit contains a mike, some might not be setting it up though, some forget to set up a controller in which case the mike is unusable.

Interesting.  The early reports that I'd seen on the demo units were that they didn't have the mikes, but checking around a bit more confirms that some do have it set up.  The main thing keeping me from the "sold the demo" theory is that posters have noted seeing mutliple copies at the store. (shrug) Mutliple demos might have been shipped to the same store, I guess. I'll keep an eye on the original forum to see if someone figures out what's going on.

But the demo units are thankfully quite real. Go out there and play, folks.

I just did.

The set-up I played is Guitar and drums only. The drum kit is only the 4 pads and the demo will play the kick drum beats automatically.  I played Should I Stay or Should Go, Epic, Black Hole Sun on drums and Kiss on guitar.  The drums are fun! The guitar I didn't like so much.

Shot an email to the people at Harmonix just to see if I'd get a response on if Rock Band is still in the works on the Wii.  Got a reply within about 3 minutes which was impressive.  (Granted the series of tubes on the internets don't have far to travel from one side of Boston to the other... Not exactly a large cirty.)

Kevin,

Bringing Rock Band to the Wii is definitely something we are looking into.  There are complications involved on the technical side with making a port – we of course would need to develop something that provides a 1-to-1 fun experience!  Like I said though, we are looking for ways to bring it to the Wii and hopefully we can talk about that sometime in the future.

I went to Best Buy on the release day for GH3, and noticed that they had a demo set up. There wasn't any microphone there, or at least no one was willing to sing in front of a bunch of strangers. It looked pretty easy from what i saw, but it looked like a lot of fun too!

The funniest part was that everyone standing around watching the Rock Band demo all had GH3 boxes tucked under their arms. It's like we were all excited to get home and play the new Guitar Hero, until we saw the awesome new game on the horizon. Talk about taking the wind out of our sails...

The guitar felt mushy and unresponsive to me. The strum bar doesn't have the click that we are used to with GH which is fine but it just felt weird to me. It is really spongy. Also the LCD screen they are using could have some lag issues but the stuff I have read about RB's calibration tools it shouldn't be a problem. The fret keys are flush with the neck and I like to slide my fingers up and down the buttons. I kept running into the neck and that threw me off a bit. The guitar even though it is bigger than any other guitars is really, really light. After playing for a few days with the new Les Pauls, the lightness was weird too.  I don't know when exactly you can use the upper fret keys in the game so I didn't really use those. I used them one time for the ending free-form part. The whammy felt good. I found my self accidentally hitting the 5 way switch a few times that was annoying.

I am sure I will get used to it, I am not really worried about it. I have been wanting the solo buttons on a guitar since GH 1.

The drum kit was cool. At Best Buy they didn't have a chair or stool or anything and my only gripe is hearing the thunk thunk of the pads and the plastic rattle when you hit the rim of the pad. I am sure once I have it at home and have my receiver turned way up I won't notice it as much.

Those are some of the things that i noticed when i played it at my local Best Buy. The strum bar just felt weird to me and it was hard for me to get the hang of it since mine didn't have a guitar strap so i felt i was going to drop it.  There was a lot of other buttons on the guitar that i didn't understand and just was confused about.

I love the drums, just the difficult thing is that when I was trying to remember where each drum pad was i would sometimes miss. I hope i'll get better once i actually have the game and am sitting down so i get my "bearings"

Overall i think it will make more sense once i finally get the game and go through the tutorials.  I'm just way excited, and i better go get myself a pre-order somewhere so that i can get a copy, this was released today on www.joystiq.com that i thought was interesting

Quote
Continuing their tradition of sitting in on droning investor earnings report calls (so you don't have to!) Gamasutra noticed EA president John Riccitiello predicting that Rock Band bundles may be tough to come by for a while. "We won't be able to put up enough inventory to meet the demand of this fiscal or calendar year," Riccitiello told the investors, adding that those who don't buy at launch "won't be getting one for Christmas, unless you know someone at one of our retailers."

While Riccitiello could be plausibly accused of simply trying to talk up demand in advance of the Nov. 20 launch -- he did encourage listeners to "get in line outside your favorite retailer, because we've got one hot product" -- we find the idea of shortages very easy to believe given the game's strong pre-order sales. With Guitar Hero III already selling out at retailers nationwide, it looks like the market for rhythm games might just be big enough for two expensive, hard-to-come-by products.

I'd believe it, the fact that they won't give any details on individual peripheral sales is a pretty strong indicator that they just can't make them fast enough. I'm sure the fact that there are no dates yet for non-US versions is at least partially for the same reason.

www.rockband.com has had a huge update. especially under videos and game info.

Is there any denying that RB's Art Dept stomps all over GH3's?

I'm feeling that too.  I like how the customization of each band member gives it a different feel.  The crowd looks better, the camera angles are more interesting...not  big things, but not little things either.

Well if you have a Guitar already and/or a usb microphone just pick up the stand alone game for the time being.

Well, my girlfriend puts up with my stupid plastic guitar playing (barely), but I don't think I want to subject her (or anybody else) to my singing.  I am still very much on the fence if I will be picking this game up.

Who am I kidding, of course I'm buying it....the wimpy PS2 version though.

Considering you can do three different instrument tours guitar/drums/singing just pretend you are buying three games.... I am looking at it as if I was buying a new game system. As long as they stay true to their words about DLC I will be happy.

I couldn't agree more.  The cost may be the main reason a lot of people aren't too sure about purchasing this or not. I felt that way at one point, but after i tried out the demo at Best Buy I was hooked!

I think it will have a lot of replay value just for the different instruments. Play drums for a bit switch to guitar. Do a little singing....

Yeah how the DLC is going to be handled is the last big mystery really. If they get the price right it will just own everything. Apparently some magazine that is about to ship is announcing 24 tracks and apparently they are "not what everyone expects", so presumably those 24 aren't Who's Next and the Grateful Dead stuff. Mind you since GH3 is apparently sticking with the forced bundling and high prices the bar hasn't been set too high.

Yeah after finishing a single player career or 2 I think I will give BWT a go by singing and playing bass.

Yeah.  I already had the game pre-ordered for a few weeks and after playing the demo at Best Buy I was really glad I did.  I personally like Rock Band's guitar a lot better than Guitar Hero's.  The strum bar doesn't make an annoying clicking sound, the guitar has a nice bit of heft to it, and the fret buttons feel more comfortable to me.

There was one weird thing I ran into though.  I turned on lefty flip (Makes sense since I'm left-handed) but noticed that the game wouldn't count your strums if I strummed up.  It only counted them when I strummed down.  Anyone else run into this?  I sure hope that's just in the demo and not in the final game.  That'd get a little annoying.

Also, my brother was playing on drums and whenever he hit them they made an extremely loud clicking sound.  It was so loud that it was a little hard to hear the song.  I really hope that version of the drum kit isn't final.  Otherwise, I'm going to have to put something over the drums to stop that annoying clicking noise.

Still, besides those two gripes, the game was really fun.  I can't wait for this to come out.

Depending on how hard you wail on the drum kit you are going to get some noise. My plan is to crank up the music or use my noise canceling headphones while I play to avoid the noise of the drum pads.

Played the drums at Best Buy last night.  It felt pretty awkward, as I've never played actual drums before.  Definitely feels like they'll will require practice just to get used to drum technique.

It sort of bugged me that I couldn't tell when I'd made a mistake as easily.  I liked the change from GH to GH2 of the screen shaking when you miss a note.  It didn't seem like they had anything like that for Rock Band.

It was hard for me too to get the hang of the drums, i think ill feel a little more comfortable with it when i can actually sit down (the demo they had at mine required you to stand as you beat the drums) also you have to remember this is just the demo and there may be something that makes it easier to understand when you mess up when you actually get the game and start playing

I was pretty pathetic tonight. Hit Best Buy after work to grab a MS points card to buy some GH DLC and I spent a good 45 minutes playing rock band. It is also sad that I had more answers about the game when other customers asked me than the Blue Shirts.

It all depends what the final price turns out to be. It's it cheapish then I'll pretty much get all of them, it it's not. then it will probably be something like Bowie Pack, Metallica Pack, then Punk Pack.

I know what you mean, the last time i was there i had to help explain to a woman the difference between all 3 systems, and what games could be played on it.  She initially thought that Halo 3 Legendary Edition was the 360 and everything together, and she couldn't understand why the Halo 3 game system was more expensive.  She also thought she could play Gamecube games on it.  I mean it's not a huge deal that she didnt understand much since she was just a mom thinking about a gift for her son. It was just the fact that the blue shirt that was with her couldn't answer any of the questions she had.  I was there for about 15 minutes helping her understand how each system was different, who manufactured it, and which games could be played on it.  The blue shirt was standing right next to the woman hanging on every word i said like she had never heard this before.

Have it on Amazon preorder now.  170 bucks for ONE GAME ain't no joke, but then again, I'll probably get a lot more out of this than most other games.

The downloadable content announced so far looks REALLY promising (moreso than Guitar Hero 3's) as long as the pricing isn't ridiculous.  I was really hoping for a couple of the early Ramones albums in full, but I'll take what I can get.

Finally was able to get the 12 year old Rock Band hogs away from the demo at Best Buy.  (My old landlord's kid is now a manager there which kinda helps.)

The drums were fun.  The guitar looks nice from the pictures, but it just felt like a piece of cheap plastic.  I really have to say I like the GH3 Les Paul better.  Maybe if I strap some weight to the RB guitar it'll feel a little better.

I'm just speculating here but if the tracks are going to cost roughly $2.00 a piece then we can take that number and multiply it by the number of songs on each album.  That should give us a ballpark figure of how much the album DLC will cost us.

So, since Nirvana's Nevermind has 11 tracks (Not including In Bloom), the most we'll be paying for that is $22.00.  Who's Next has 8 tracks (not including Won't Get Fooled Again).  So, the most we should be paying for that is $16.00.  I assume they'll give us a deal if we download the entire album like they're doing for the song packs though.  Again, just wild speculation.  But the album prices should be around there.

The Rock Band Tour hit town and I just got back.  Drums on Medium with the kick pedal kicked my ass!!!! This game is going to be playable for ages for me. I did fine on Bon Jovi on easy with drums though. Also playing with headphones is going to be the way to go on drums.  On the tour trailer they have 4 set-ups with headphones and one "main stage" that plays through the P.A.  With the headphones on all i could hear was the game. No sound of the drum sticks hitting the pads at all.  Only 2 more days!!!!!!

I was actually shocked that he's playing expert in that video.  It doesn't look all that difficult (I have 2 tiers to complete in expert on GH2).  Just from watching that, I'm pretty sure I could 4 star that (based on the GH ranking system) on my first try no problem.

Apparently, Rock Band is not as challenging (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/20/nega-review-rock-band) as the GH franchise.

Holy shit that's some major fun.

I've always been more of an air-drummer than an air-guitarist, and this game just made me giggle like a little girl while I was playing it.  The fiancé would in all likelihood murder me if I got this game, the constant bang-bang-bang of the drums would drive her nuts. Not to mention the pricetag...I can hear it now, "you spent $170 on a video game?  WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SAVING OUR MONEY FOR THE WEDDING!!!"

But man....maybe I can buy it and hide it, and only play it late at night or something.

Indifference for the most part.  She tolerates it.  She has outright told me that she doesn't want a husband who plays a lot of video games...and I don't...before Guitar Hero came out, I hadn't turned on my PS2 in over a year.

I'm curious if there's any guys out there who have a wife/girlfriend cool enough (or maybe nerdy enough) who plays Guitar Hero with them?

Mine has played a few times with me on co-op.  I don't think there's any appeal for her to play it by herself though.  As long as there's multiplayer, she's up for it.
She likes to watch me play Guitar Hero every so often because I put on a great show.  ;D
And it works out great for me because I don't get dirty looks for playing a video game while she's around.   ;D

My wife sits on the couch and makes fun of me while I play Guitar Hero.  It's sort of like having an anti-groupie.

She likes Karaoke Revolution, though, and she really gets into it once she's playing.  First I have to overcome the coefficient of static gaming friction, though.  It's like pulling teeth to get her to start playing, but once she gets going, she ends up staying up all night belting out standards.

Chicks are weird.

So I went to Best Buy during lunch and I stopped by the demo to play the drums....

Holy shit that's some major fun.

I'm right there with you.  I just got back from Best Buy, where I had my first opportunity to really spend some time with the drums.  (The local urchins were still in school for a change.)  What an absolute blast.

They did seem kind of easy.  I was playing on Expert and getting like 92% percent on most of the demo songs.  And that was with the yellow pad not functioning at all, and me playing with Lefty Flip on to decrease the number of yellow notes.  I assume the pedal adds a whole new dimension of difficulty, but without it, drumming is a bit of a cakewalk.  I still loved it, though.

It's killing me that I can not have this game right now.  I'm not sure when I'd get to play it, though.  Doesn't seem like the family would appreciate me thwappin' away on the pads at 3 AM while they're trying to sleep.

I had to beg the last guy I dated to play any video games with me.  I love them, he hated them.  Go figure.

After feverous deliberations, sleepless nights, and endless staring contests, a deal has been struck:

My fiancé has agreed that we can buy Rock Band, but I have to come up with the money for it without using my paycheck.  So, I'll be selling off a few things that I own, almost like a fundraiser or bake sale.  I already sold GH1 online for $30, so I only have $120 more to go.

Maybe I can sell some blood plasma...

That shouldn't be too hard:

Do you just want me to send you a list of acceptable DVDs, or are you just gonna' ship them all to me at 50cents a piece?  ;)

Yes, reviving the 11 year old thread.

A note from Harmonix:
Quote
We have an important Rock Band Network update to share. Unfortunately, ALL RBN songs on ALL legacy consoles (Xbox 360, PlayStation®3, and Nintendo Wii) will no longer be available for purchase from the Rock Band Music Store beginning later this month. As with other delisted content, owners on every platform can continue to play previously purchased and downloaded RBN songs as desired. However, due to technical reasons, Xbox 360 owners will not be able to redownload these songs if they are somehow removed from your storage device. We apologize for this inconvenience, but do note that the Xbox 360 supports flash drives and external hard drives if you would like to back up your content. PlayStation®3 owners will continue to have the ability to redownload as needed. These songs were never available for purchase or playable in Rock Band 4. All songs available on Rock Band 4 are not affected, regardless of source.

So, got a 360? Download all your songs to a back up if you ever want to play them again.

Yeah it's a shame they couldn't revive RBN for Xbox One.
