Title: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Post by: Big Blonde on May 26, 2007, 06:10:25 PM
This show is one of the funniest things still on TV. FX is coming out with a third season in the 'late summer' and you can buy the first two seasons on iTunes. Wondering if there are any fans out there and if you haven't seen the show, I really recommend it.

Here's a clip from the episode called "Underage Drinking: A National Concern"

This is one of my favorite shows ever.

Anyone know when season 3 is coming to DVD,or if we are getting a season four?

How come stuff like this always has trouble just getting made and yet According to Jim goes on and on?!

Because you don't have to put any thought into making an According to Jim episode.

Sad but true.

Hey everyone what is your favorite episode.

Mine is the first one i ever saw,the Welfare episode.

I still can't think about the part where Denis and Sweet Dee are druged out of their minds with out cracking up.

I don't think this show has produced a bad episode yet,I hope they make more.

No question about it: My favorite episode is "Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person."

I went through a huge marathon a month ago watching all the episodes. Season 4 is a little disappointing compared to the other three. As for favorite episodes, "Bums: Making a Mess All Over the City" is mine. I was laughing almost every second during that episode. Charlie pretending to be Serpico and Frank and Dennis as cops :D

Where's the waitress been lately?

I can't believe Charlie thought that would work.

I can't wait for next season.

I wish they would release a CD of the music from that episode at some point.

I feel sorry for her,i mean is she going to have to get a gun to stop Charlie?

Also why did Charlie need to be raped in order to get superpowers to take down Nightman?

Definitely liked this episode, Charlie at the end was awesome (especially the high notes). It also made me go back and re-watch "Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person" for some Nightman origins.

Yeah, it really was. I recently watched "The Gang Gets Invincible" and my favorite episode, "Bums: Making a Mess All Over the City" and the first five episodes of Season 1. The supporting casts is great too. Gotta love the Waitress. It doesn't get much better than Charlie's Serpico impression.

The freaking 4th season was filled with great episodes like "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life" with Sinbad & Rob Thomas in rehab and Charlie's abrupt standup comedy bit. I'm probably going to have to watch through this last season again. The 3rd season wasn't too shabby either.
Title: Re: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Post by: iv3rdawG on January 15, 2009, 08:04:55 AM
Season 4 had some weak episodes though, like "The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell" - probably the worst episode of the series so far. But it did have some great ones. I dunno, going through season 3 again I can see how good it is. I'm going to go through season 4 too.

I just wanted to chime in and also say I love this show.  When it was on I would watch The Office, 30 Rock and then It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.  I'm also looking forward to the guy's new project "Boldly Going" which will have Rickety Cricket in it.  (My apologies if you already talked about it, I didn't read the whole thread).

I saw the whole cast live last night and they performed "The Dayman Cometh" episode in its entirety. It was so awesome, Artemis and the Waitress were there too. I also spotted GREEN MAN! Looks like they were filming it so expect it on the DVD as an extra maybe, or a DVD by itself. They added a couple extra songs too.

Fans of the hit show It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia will have their chance to see the gang up close and in person as they take “The Nightman Cometh” on the road. The musical performance was written by Rob McElhenney (Mac), Charlie Day (Charlie) and Glenn Howerton (Dennis) who all star along with Kaitlin Olson (Sweet Dee), and Danny DeVito (Frank) with special appearances by Mary Elizabeth Ellis (The Waitress) and Artemis Pebdani (Artemis). “The Nightman Cometh” is a live stage adaptation of a fan favorite episode from season four in which Charlie writes a rock opera to woo his longtime obsession, The Waitress. The stage show originally premiered in Los Angeles last Spring and, based on the success and fan buzz generated by the musical, producers decided to bring the live show on the road.

So any thoughts on this past season? I thought it was fantastic, nearly every episode had me LOLing all over the place. I loved "The Gang Hits the Road", where they go on a road trip and

. Charlie was on a total roll, with Kitten Mittons, the whole running gag with him and cats, and walking around with a bag of Cheetos. And I cannot say enough about how awesome Danny DeVito has been. His character comes so close to veering into wacky neighbor territory but he never gets tiresome in the way that wacky neighbor characters tend to do.

Also, Dick Towel!

Season 6 Started last night. Other than all the product placement (must drink Coors Light and eat Breakfast at Subway now.....) it was spot on.

My favorite thing about this show is that the main characters are so self centered. Why does Mac want to Ban gay marriage? Not because he has any personal beliefs on the subject, but because he can't bang the post op tranny. I love it!

Looks fun!

It's been an entertaining ride catching up w/ this series, and I'm currently in Season 5. Season 4 has been my clear cut favorite to date. Everything from the gas crisis to Charlie/Mac dying to the taco-bed to the musical. So much win, and I've been really enjoying this season. Rum ham, Frank's mortician makeup, and Charlie's hatchet!

Storm coming? Hatchet coming!

So glad I started watching this.

New season started last week.  I really loved the most recent episode about the gang trying to win an award.  I loved the part where they went to the rival bar that had won "best bar".  They sorta lampooned standard sitcom tropes and shows like Cheers, by having the gang plopped down in the middle of it and not reacting well at all.

The Award episode was BRILLIANT! I effing love this show.

I bought last season and then put this season on auto-purchase (on amazon). One thing I have realized: Although in my opinion Dennis is the least interesting character, when he has to give those impassioned speeches that make no sense he is 100% awesome.

Nine seasons in, and this one is squaring up to become my favorite. What a run.

"The Gang Saves the Day" was yet another outstanding episode. I thought all of the gang's imaginings were great, but Dennis & Charlie's were the best. Dennis' gibberish after being shot in the head and how inside Charlie's psyche, everything's played out as a cartoon was so awesome. I love Charlie's idea of marriage & having children. So great.

And the icing, Dee biting it in every bit but hers.

Congrats on 100-episodes, Sunny! Nyte Kroller Roolz!!

I agree. Of all the episodes, The Gang Saves the Day made me laugh the hardest. I was also thinking that even though it's season 9 they are on FIRE!

I loved Frank's. It was short but I was laughing the entire time. From is weird out of hit stare to how much joy and detail he got out of those hot dogs. It was great.

I've seen all of this show up until the Fat Mac episodes. I'm glad to hear he lost the weight, both for the show and for his own personal health. I haven't really drummed up enough entusiasm to start watching the show again since then. I think I stopped watching after the 'Shadynasty' episode. Maybe I should check it out again, it sounds like it's still funny, from what I'm reading here.

I've seen all of this show up until the Fat Mac episodes. I'm glad to hear he lost the weight, both for the show and for his own personal health. If you haven't watched the whole season where Mac got fat, you need to.... if only for The Gang Gets Trapped episode. Ultimately the most brilliant thing they have ever written.  That whole season is really great though too. I was a bit leery until I caught it on Netflix and laughed my ass off.

You quit 2 episodes too soon, and missed out on the Chardee MacDennis hilarity.

Anyone else excited about this week's episode being penned by the Game of Thrones' showrunners? I know I am.

The season finale was okay, but the season as a whole was unreal. The high point in the season kept climbing, and I didn't think it could conceivably get any better than "Flowers for Charlie", and then Lethal Weapon 6 happened. It was a dream-season for this Sunny fan.

There were only, what, 7 or 8 episodes in the season?  What kind of TV season is that?

It was 10 or 11. Last season had 11 episodes.

And I agree with Rad, this was an awesome season. I loved every episode this season!

It sure seemed like less.  I guess 10 is acceptable.  Season 7 of Scrubs was truncated to 11 episodes due to the writer's strike.  That stands out because as a network sitcom, they usually get a full 22 episodes per season.

I don't mind short seasons with a show like Always Sunny, because it is still a small group working thier ass off.  Forcing longer seasons out of them, we might see the quality per episode dip down.
