Long before there was a terrible Disney live-action version of Aladdin, there was a terrible Disney live-action version of Aladdin!

This one came out two years before the classic animated version, and has been rightfully scrubbed from history. In fact, Disney was so eager to suppress it that the guy who played Aladdin never acted again! Or before! This was his only role, and after ten seconds of his performance, you will realize it was one too many.

The role of the Genie is played by Barry Bostwick, who appears to be doing an impression of the ventriloquist dummy Madame if she were operated by Charles Nelson Riley. The music fares no better, possibly an effort by director and noted Monkee Micky Dolenz to make the movie Head look better by comparison. Also the whole thing takes place in China. We know this because the cast of midwestern white people repeatedly reminds us that they are in China, often with a sensitive gong sound effect for emphasis.

Join Mike, Kevin, and Bill for a whole new world of crap as they riff Aladdin!

So this seems to be an actual Disney Movie, made by/for the Disney Channel.

I'm sure Rifftrax has their ducks in a row, but my instinct is to purchase and burn this thing as soon as possible, before a Mouse can wish it away.

Yeah that's the weirdest part.  Feels more like it's part of Cannon's Movie Tales line.

Weirdly, this is one of the few adaptations of Aladdin that take into account that the story takes place in China (sort of.  The story says China but all the character names and titles make it clear that the author didn't really know China and its still all fairly Middle Eastern).

As much as I hate the Rifftrax practice of chopping movies to 75 minutes, this was was cut from 70 to 60 and something tells me this is going to be one of the rare times I'm thankful for the cut (like "Hillbillies in a Haunted House"- good riff, but had my fill for what passed for popular country music in the 60s before the end  of it and didn't need more).

Woohoo, a musical! My fried Vicky is going to be thrilled. She's a fan of Rifftrax but tends to get bored by some of the movies. But she's a huge fan of musicals. She loved the Rifftrax of High School Musical.

The 10 deleted minutes were probably just people singing about what a very very very very very lovely day or evening it was in China.
