Title: Captain Marvel - WITH SPOILERS
Post by: Russoguru on September 17, 2018, 07:13:43 PM
So I just picked up the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly which had Brie Larson on the cover as the awesome Captain Marvel. I'm sure most of you know this by now but we'll be seeing a lot of familiar faces returning to the MCU when Captain Marvel hits theaters in March.

I'm a little puzzled at all the unwarranted hate this movie is getting. I'm also taking some flack on FB for saying how much I loved this movie. I guess I shouldn't let it get me down too much.

Yeah the men's rights crowd has been targeting the movie and spreading vitriol in an attempt to make it fail and prove that female-led movies always fail. It's not working.

There's such a thing as a men's rights crowd? Truthfully, no desire to see this as I just don't find most Super Hero movies to be at all original or entertaining...Black Panther being the last one I got sucked into seeing due to the hype and I thought it was dumb and the anthitheises of entertertaining... nothing to do with any agenda, just not my thing.

I like how they've been mixing genres.

Social media makes hay slagging female movies, like Ghostbusters a year or so back.

Anyone see it?

non-spoiler review: overall it was a mid-level Marvel movie, which is still good. If you skipped it you wouldn't miss all that much. Save your fifteen bucks unless you're a Marvel completist and you need to see Stan Lee's last cameo and some linking material for the Avenger's saga. Remember two stingers in the credits not just one. Verdict: better than Spiderman: Homecoming and Venom but not as good as Wonder Woman or Avengers.

I liked it a LOT more than Wonder Woman or Avengers, but less than Spider-man Homecoming.

My take away from that is I should see Venom.

Oh, and Brie Larson was excellent and had tremendous chemistry with SLJ. The theatre I was in loved it.

Also, no need for spoilers in this thread. I'll edit the title.

When I saw it again yesterday, the ONLY annoying thing were all the damn little kids talking out loud during most of the damn movie! I'm serious some parents need to learn to shut their kids up. It's one thing if it's during a quiet moment but when people in the movie are talking I get a little pissed.

However, at the end of the movie the kids were cheering which I found to be pretty cool, I mean how did they keep track of the movie with their obvious ADD?

Also if I were you I'd only rent Venom Ed, it was... okay at best.

I saw it on Saturday. I enjoyed it overall. But I didn't love it. It's hard to say why. I think it might be because the deliberately jumbled nature of what we learn about her at the beginning made it hard to get invested right away. Plus the scene with them on the mission to retrieve the spy was very confusing. I did really love her flying space battle at the end against Ronan's forces. It was weird for them to bring Ronan back, though. He was such a lame villain in Guardians Of The Galaxy so there was no threat to him. Plus it takes place before GoG, so we know she won't really do anything to him.
