That guy must have the greatest agent in the universe.

He has never played all that great, he is always injured, why do teams continue to make deals to get him?

Brock Osweiler signs contract with Miami Dolphins

It might be late March, but flip your calendars forward, Miami: Brocktober is coming.

Brock Osweiler signed with the Miami Dolphins on Friday, the team announced.

Osweiler has created a football odyssey of sorts for him in recent years, going from unheralded backup in Denver to highly paid starter in Houston, to Texans outcast shipped to Cleveland along with a second-round pick, to backup in Denver yet again. All of this happened in a span of three seasons.

Osweiler lit it up against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football late in the 2017 season, launching him into a brief, stratospheric flight before crashing back to earth the next week in a 27-11 loss to Washington. It was the last Denver would see of Osweiler, who drifted into free agency after the close to a disappointing season for the Broncos.

Osweiler resurfaced in Miami, where he took a Thursday visit and will backup Ryan Tannehill, who missed the entire 2017 season with an ACL injury. Most Dolphins fans will want to forget the brief Jay Cutler era and return to Tannehill as the driver. Now they'll have the added knowledge -- no, not comfort -- of Osweiler's existence on the bench, where he hopefully won't be denied garbage-time snaps like he once was by Peyton Manning.

Bunch of rule changes announced.

The part of the catch rule about surviving the ground is gone, that should get rid of the stupid no catch calls when replay shows the ball moving a fraction of an inch as a player slams into the ground.

Lowering the head before making contact is now a 15 yard penalty with possible ejection (they are still working on that part of the new rule).

The replay center can now call for ejections if they see something the refs on the field missed.

No more meaningless PATs, what took them so long to do this?  Making the teams come back out to kick an extra point after the end of all the celebrations for a win was always stupid.

Richie Incognito Taken In For Throwing Dumbbell At Man In Florida Gym

May 23, 2018

Only the combination of Richie Incognito and Florida could provide a story as strange as this.

The now retired 4-time Pro-Bowl guard was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold by police Wednesday morning after reportedly throwing a dumbbell, yes a dumbbell at another man in an upscale Florida gym.

The victim claims after a verbal altercation was initiated, Incognito started by throwing a tennis ball at him, only to advance to a dumbbell while allegedly rambling about the government and screaming “get off my f*cking playground” to the man.

Law enforcement was then called.

The incident comes as just the latest in a long list of incidents of bad behavior for the 34-year-old.

I haven't watched any preseason games.  It rarely is any indication of what the team will be like when the games count.

But people are a bit concerned that the offensive line has not played well in any preseason game.  And our kicker has missed field goals and extra points.

Every team is going to be a little extra amped to play the Eagles this year, in 2 weeks we'll see if the team is ready for that.

Disappointing loss by the Eagles, they had a shot to go ahead in the last few minutes but the defense couldn't hold and Tampa was able to run most of the clock down.

Ryan Fitzpatrick picked up right where he left off last week and the Eagles couldn't cover well enough, so they got burned by several huge plays.

Have mixed feelings about the Mahomes love/hype going into and out of week 3. Glad to see a Chiefs player getting so much press and still think Andy Reid a big improvement over the last couple of Chiefs' coaches, but skeptical that he'll/they'll have success come playoff time.

Doom and gloom coming out of Packers press is pretty amazing (my 2nd favorite team after the Chiefs only because I've lived in Packer country for awhile now) considering they're only a half game back, but it might be warranted due to Rogers' injury and Matthews' consistantly being called for penalties that weren't penalties in previous years.

That was the problem when he was here, we would get to the playoffs every year but rarely advanced very far.  He was always bad at clock management but it seemed to get even worse in playoff games.  I can remember several playoff games where we had chances to win at the end but minutes were wasted and time ran out.

Terrible first half for the Eagles, they are playing horribly.

And the worst roughing the passer call I've seen so far, so if a defensive guy is on the ground near the QB he isn't even allowed to grab his legs now?  It's touch football for the QB these days.

The one game a year they do over there usually screws up those teams, if the owners allow that it will mess up 8 teams a year traveling over there, and the Jaguars will never do well in their away games.

Thursday night games causing the short week are bad enough.  And speaking of that the Eagles are playing tonight, a short week after the completely aweful performance Sunday, they are playing the Giants so it will be a case of who sucks less tonight.

London based team just seems like a bad idea. Only way I could see it possibly working is if they cut back on pre season games and gave each team traveling there an additional week off afterwards. But that wouldn't help the London based team and the owners aren't likely to want to give up that pre season game ticket money. I'd also think the London team would be at a huge disadvantage when it comes to free agency- a lot of players just aren't going to want to live there for 2 plus months a year (and taxes may make it undesirable as well).

Very hard to judge if they played well or if the Giants just suck really bad.   But maybe this was a good way to get the team in sync, at least there were fewer mistakes last night, last few weeks we had lots of 1st and forevers due to lack of focus penalties.

Hate NFL night games due to the length of games these days and both teams I follow have night games this week.
Chiefs Sunday night (despite not liking night games, kind of OK in a way since a lot of KC games don't get shown on TV here) and the Packers on Monday.

An it was Carson that gave it away, completely lost his cool in the last 45 seconds of the game.

After that pass into double coverage in the end zone where he didn't see a wide open guy on the sideline that would have given us a 1st down and goal and also stopped the clock I just knew he was going to turn it over.  But I figured it would be an interception and not a fumble.

Now the Eagles have to go to London this week, after a game they should have won, not a good situation.

Now that I've seen the last 3 Chiefs games, this year's team reminds me a lot of the 2003/2004 teams. Offense good enough to make up for a terrible defense in most games.
Can say the same for the Packers only offense not as good, so only some games and not most.
Looking at the standings overall, there is a lot of mediocrity overall so and a lot of teams with only 3 or even 2 wins at this point that still have a good chance to win their divisions.

Eagles barely survive the Jaguars, and suffered a bunch of injuries, hopefully the extra week off will help with some of them.  At one point the right and left sides of the O-line were replacements due to injury.

I really hope this is the turning point, the first 2 drives by the Eagles resulted in turnovers and then Carson seemed to take command, the second half was more like Carson from last year.

Packers trade Ha Ha Clinton Dix to Redskins for a future 4th round draft pick. Seeing as he was one of their best defensive players, maybe that was the first sign that they're considering this a lost season. I can kind of understand if that's the case as overall they haven't looked very good this year, but they are still only a game back in the division and all of their loses (including the most recent loss to the 8 and 0 Rams) were due in part to mistakes they made and a kicker going to shit for a couple of games. Kicker seems to have corrected himself, but maybe they don't expect the mistakes to go away. That said, they're still not very good and I still think the best case scenario for this year's team is a one and done playoff run for them.

Not NFL, but our local high school had won 70 games in a row including 5 in a row state championships before losing the first game of the year this year. Then they went undefeated the rest of the regular season games this year. Tonight was a rematch of the first game of the year with the winner going to the state championship. Watched the game on TV. Tied after 4. Opposing team scored 7 to start OT. Local team scored a touchdown, went and got 2 and now going to their 6th in a row championship game. Was snowing like hell at the end. Love watching, but not attending, snow games.

The Eagles - Saints game next weekend has been "flexed" from 1pm to 4:25pm.

Usually Eagles - Cowchips in prime time is a big game, but with the sucking that is going on in Dallas it's kind of hard to get excited about it.  Just hope the Eagles don't play down to the Cowchips level.

Darren Sproles was set to come back this week but re-injured his hamstring in practice, before this it was unlikely he was going to be back next year, hard to imagine he will play again for the Eagles.  He has been taking up a roster spot all season that they needed filled, sad though, he was truly awesome in his prime.

Packers did what they've done a lot this season- looked OK early in the game, then fell behind late, then had a chance for a last minute come back, but blew it.
Veteran kicker who looked terrible early in the year and then turned it around, missed a 36 yard field goal with 10 seconds (or so) left that would have tied the game.
This time the loss was to the 2 & 9 (now 3 & 9) Cardinals.

Can't believe the Saints let the cowchips win, WTF, pretty much put the nail in the Eagles season, nearly impossible for them to make the playoffs now.

It's looking like this Eagles season is going to go down as worst case of Superbowl hangover ever.  That's the way it goes, with the salary cap it's hard to hold onto everyone when other teams are offering loads of cash to take coaches and players away from the current Super Bowl winner.  That and injuries, so many injuries, defense is 80% 3rd and 4th string guys.

Washington loses another quarterback because of a broken leg, and with Sanchez in there that you would think they would have relied more on Adrian Peterson, you know, the guy that ran 80 yards for a touchdown in the first half, but nope, they went to almost all passing.  Sure they were down but they only got farther behind relying on Sanchez to throw the ball.

Great for the Eagles, kept their season alive one more week, now they have to beat the cowchips next week.

Just horrendous officiating at the Eagles - cowchips game.

How is it possible that they rule a fumble, there are only Eagles players near the ball, and Eagles player picks up the ball and gives it to the official, but somehow it's inconclusive who recovered the fumble.  How?  There were no Dallas players within 5 yards of the ball and 4 or 5 Eagles, seems conclusive as hell.

Then the phantom offensive pass interference that brought back a touchdown.

Not sure the Eagles deserved to win with Carson playing so poorly half the game, but to have the officials make things even worse is just infuriating.

Panthers to sit Cam Newton for remainder of 2018 season

Not too long ago, it looked as though the 2018 season could have been a very special one for Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. But now, with a injured shoulder and a lost season before him and his team, a season that once held so much promise for the former NFL MVP has reached its unfortunate end.

With the Panthers now 6-8 and all but eliminated from playoff contention, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that Carolina will sit Newton for the final two games of the season due to the shoulder injury that has hampered him since midseason and has caused the Panthers to go from 6-2 and seemingly playoff bound to laboring through a six-game losing streak and limping to the finish line. Backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke will now assume starting duties for the Panthers' Week 16 home finale against the Atlanta Falcons and their Week 17 season finale against the New Orleans Saints.

Chiefs lost another game due mainly to terrible defense. I think they'll likely beat Oakland at home next week and get a bye in the first round, but I can still easily see them being one and done in the playoffs thanks to the D.

Both Bills & Panthers played dominating games in 'garbage' Week 17 as both their seasons come to an end :-[

Aaron Rogers suffered a concussion early in a meaningless  game that saw the Packers get blown out at home by the Lions.

Eagles need to beat the Redskins and the Bears need to beat the Vikings for the Eagles to make the playoffs.  Eagles should be able to handle the Redskins.  Vikings Bears is a hard one to call, if the Bears lose they play the Vikings again next week, so neither team wants to pull out all their best plays this week.

Despite the blowout score, Chiefs didn't look too great beating the Raiders. Had a couple of big offensive plays, but the Raiders turning the ball over repeatedly was really the reason for the blow out. But the Chiefs have their bye and top seed in the AFC.

Wow, Eagles are in the playoffs.  They will play the Bears in Chicago next week.

St. Nick took another hit to the ribs and went to the locker room for X-rays in the 4th quarter, no word on his condition.  He was one completion away from setting the NFL record, he did tie the record with 25 in a row.

In Sunday's game Nelson Agholor caught a pass and scored a TD, then gave the ball to a 10 year old kid in the stands.  But it was Sudfeld’s first career touchdown pass (our 3rd string QB was in because Foles went out with bruised ribs).  They manged to get the ball back and give the kid another ball, and Agholor signed it.

For some reason I thought the Eagles-Bears game was tonight and I was going to watch it. Couldn't bring myself to watch the Seahawks-Cowboys game instead. I can watch a game even when I have no real interest in who wins. Much tougher to watch when I want both teams to lose.

Missed both the Colts @ Texans and Seahags @ Cowchips games due to work but I'm glad the Colts won as I'm a big Frank Reich fan from back in the day during the Bills Un-BILL-eavable comeback over the Houston Oilers 26 years ago 8)

I don't believe it!  Another completely improbable Eagles season continues.

That's why the Eagles got rid of Cody Parkey.

Did you see the smile on the face of the Eagles special teams coach when Doug called the time out, awesome.

Of course Eagles now have to face the Saints, yikes.

Feeling some cofidence that the Chiefs will do well against the Colts. Not nearly as confident that they'll do as well (assuming they get past the Colts) against the Patriots or Chargers (2 teams they lost to in offensive shoot outs this year).

Oh, and the Packers have a new 38 year old coach:

Hope I'm wrong, but I think the Packers are at the start of a downward slide for a few years.

Should be 24 to 10, but 24 to 7 Chiefs at the half. Except for the last 2 minute drive by the Colts that resulted in a really short missed field goal, KC's defense has looked good. Only points from the Colts came from a blocked punt that they recovered in the end zone.

Chiefs offense kind of went dormant in the 2nd half, but probably the best game of the year for the defense. They'll get to host New England or San Diego at home next week.

Caught the 2nd half of the Colts @ Chiefs game but missed the Cowchips @ Rams game cause I had to go bed for Sunday Amazon at the post office.
Glad the Cowchips lost so I don't have to hear their fans gloat >:D

I'll be able to watch Sundays games..
Now if the Chargers can take out the Patriots and the Eagles can top the Saints that would be splendid 8)

Eagles are the only wild card team left, hope they can pull off an upset.

Halftime adjustments are going to be the difference.

Really scary to have Fletcher Cox go out, but looks like he's OK now.

I was pulling for the Eagles, but yeah, that was a game they lost more than got beat

Not looking forward to all the young up and coming QB vs veteran QB hype that the press is going to focus on in the Chiefs-Patriots game, but I am looking forward to the game.

Tough loss for my Chiefs definitely made tougher by the announcers constant spewing of love for the Patriots/Tom Brady. Everytime Mahomes did anything good it was "Brady-like" and when he did anything bad "he just did something that you'd never see Brady do".

Came down to the coin toss in overtime.

The announcers were disgusting, it was like the Patriots radio team was on the air.

So, anyone give a crap about the Super Bowl this year?

It's the same broadcasters as the Chiefs game last week so it will be filled with praise for the Patriots.  I've seen no backlash from that, just all praise for calling out what Brady was going to do, so I doubt anyone has taken them aside and said to cool it or be more balanced.

Coke has already said they will not be airing commercials during the game, they will do some during pre-game and that's it.  And if last year is any indication there will not be very many commercials worth watching out for.

I'm not sure I'll even bother watching it, I have like zero interest in it this year.

Yeah I'm sick of the Patriots, but I do have this new Vizio 75" HDTV so I'll probably watch the first half but if it looks like a blowout I'll probably turn it off and either go to bed if I have to work the following morning or watch something I have backed up on my computer on the big screen :-\

It's the Super Bowl so I'll end up watching, but yeah, I have less interest than any year in a long, long time and it likely won't have my full attention.
Win or loose I expect the gushing over the Partriots to be sickening. And while I was never a fan of their time in St Louis, I have friends there that were big fans with season tickets and I agree with them that the Rams move back to LA was a big FU to St Louis, so I have a hard time getiing excited about them too.

While there have been performers on Super Bowl halftimes that I've enjoyed, trying to make halftime an event on it's own has risen to ridiculousness and I have no desire to see Maroon 5. Anyone heard of any good interesting alternate halftime shows this year?

Game barely had any of my attention until the 4th quarter.
As much as I hate them, it's pretty amazing what the Patriots have done over the last 15 or so years (so glad I was able to avoid all the hype about it leading up to this game though and didn't turn the game on until right at kick off).
Now here's hoping they start a 15+ year skid.
