Disappointed that there are no dates for Texas (which is even larger population-wise than New York State). So why are there no dates for the tour there?

Also disappointed that Toronto wasn't chosen.

Oh well. At least NYC got one. But they always choose us. We have the UN, after all...

For SHOW #2, we don't want to spoil the surprise and tell you what it is, so let's just say that it's a Secret Surprise Film! All I'll tell you is that it's a truly weird sci-fi thriller, and it's never been featured on MST3K.

Really wanted to hit both shows in Milwaukee, but have other plans that weekend. Picked up VIP3 tickets to the Sunday night Green Bay show (VIP3, the cheapest VIP package, was cheaper at $100 each than the regular pre-sale tickets that were still available-just include swag though, no meet and greet).

What do you get with the VIP tix?
Not much.
VIP3 was a 6th row ticket, tour poster, tour laminate and lanyard, and a tote bag.
More expensive packages included the above plus better seats, a mystery gift, meet and greet with Joel and Jonah, pic with a cast member on stage, and exclusive access to purchase merch early.

Neither Milwaukee or Green Bay asked for a code. Milwaukee might have at checkout, but I didn't get that far. Bought Green Bay tix with never entering a code though.

Thought someone had made a post complaining about the price of tickets, but I don't see it now. Anyway, I normally probably wouldn't have spent $100 a ticket on this show either, but I was planning on going to Milwaukee for 2 shows and when that wasn't gonna work out, a couple of hundred bucks for 2 tickets seems like a bargain. Probably would have gotten cheaper/farther awaty tickets for both Milwaukee shows, but added all together those tickets would have been more than $200. Hotel, gas, food, parking, a few drinks would have run me $500 easily. Wife's shopping would have added up to another 2 to 4 hundred. Hell Green Bay being local at even $200 is saving me up to $800 using my wife's finance logic.

I wasn't really planning on pulling the trigger on the SOL VIP but when I saw the ticket was front row center I had to do it!!  I just hope the mystery gift is something super sweet!!

UGH! I hate this slavish adherence to live performance. I get that as performers they like getting feedback from the audience, but it's really not required, and it just limits the audience that can see it.
I am likely going to be able to go to the one near me, but I realize that I am very lucky in that regard.

I kind of wish they'd spend this time working on the next season. I forgave season 11 for a lot due to its tight schedule, but if next season has the same issues because they used their time on this tour, I won't be able to overlook it so easily.

I guess maybe they don't know if they have another season yet...

Why the hell wouldn't they film and sell it? Wouldn't that make them a lot more money? Really bummed about this. Fans shouldn't be excluded by geography.

Or cost, time, and frustration.
I just spent over $60 for one ticket. I will have to drive to the city (with tolls), deal with annoying traffic, park (likely at a parking garage which will cost me), get to the venue, be in line, be in the loud and very crowded theater, wait (because these damn things never start on time), enjoy the performance that I have no volume control over, over an also very loud crowd, deal with the huge crowd when leaving the theater, and then drive home in traffic. All because they want audience feedback. Something they didn't have when shooting the original show.
Or I could pay ~$10 and watch it at my leisure, in my calm home where I have volume control.

Responses to some above remarks:
-It makes no sense to work on another Season when they're still awaiting word from Netflix on whether or not they renew for another season. I'm guessing if Netflix passes, Joel/Shout will shop it to other networks (or Amazon), but unless Shout thinks they can make money with a DVD and Shout TV only season, the only way another season will happen is after funding is secured.
-Venue I'm going to is an hour away and I hate staying out late on a Sunday night and while I'm typically not into crowds, there is something about seeing a live riff live with a crowd that makes it more enjoyable than a recorded version of that live event (even movie theater crowds for the live Rifftrax events beat watching them at home). I would like to see home releases, but really just to catch jokes that I miss and because I'm going to miss the sci-fi surpise feature (only 1 show here and it's Eegah!).

First off, I don't think this is all about making money. Seems like Joel wants to do this because it's an itch he has had for a while.

Second, if you taped it and sold the video you will sell less tickets, especially in more out of the way venues.

Plus, filming it requires a score of expensive people and gear to record, edit it, light it, and yada yada.

Yeah, I won't get to see it, but why should that prevent them from doing something they want to do?  Letting them know we would like a recording makes sense. But being angry and pretending like you are being force marched out to a theater is childish.  We are fans, but that doesn't entitle us to experience everything.

Agreed.  Though I am sure it also might be, in part, to keep interest in the show in the public consciousness and drum up more interest.  After all, the show, while aparently doing well, hasn't been picked up for another season yet.

I guess my frustration comes from not having a reason why they won't be filmed. Just nope, you're outta luck if you live outside the US.  If it would lose them money or not be worth it then I understand, I'd just like to know. I've been a fan since the mid-90s (from the US originally) and besides the "lost" KTMA episodes, these will be the first MST3K shows I'll never be able to see. Just makes me sad as a loyal fan. I'll get over it, but I'll definitely be focusing more on Rifftrax. While I know I'll never get to see one of their live shows, I really appreciate the recordings.

I don't know if it would lose them money, but it would undoubtedly cost them more upfront, for all the reasons Variety of Cells listed above. And not every MST3K fan would want it. When Cinematic Titanic switched over to the live format, I completely lost interest. There's something about buying a recording of an event that I didn't get to go to that feels disingenuous, for some reason. Like buying your own bowling trophy. It's a souvenir for a vacation you never took. Rifftrax circumvents that a little bit by broadcasting live, so I feel like I've participated, even though I wasn't "there."  I know I'm probably an oddball that way, but there are a number of other reasons I've heard people say they prefer recorded Rifftrax shows to live shows.

I'd be flabbergasted if they did it without the 3 main cast. I can understand the mads being video since they aren' t the riffers in this series, but I'd be annoyed if the other two weren't part of the show.

A few different tshirts, the Zazzle water bottle & coffee mug, winter hat, a $10 small poster, a $30 11x17ish foil (or something) poster, $10 pins (3 different ones), $90 spring snake, $200 laser cut wood standee of the bots on the bridge, $5 for a sticker the size of an iPhone 4...

Some Jonah Ray vinyl too

The $10 poster is the same style (but slightly bigger) than the one in the VIP tote bag.

I picked up 2 pins (a boneheads and a moon logo). I also have the bag, a VIP laminate, & a spring snake that made its way from the stage into the crowd. (MrTorso got it for me. He had one as well but Joel came by during intermission and took them back from the people in the front row. I escaped with mine since I was a few rows back)

$90 for a spring snake-ouch.
The wife is into pins, but I'll likely pass on the merch other than the bag and the poster that came with the ticket package. Might think about a t-shirt, but I still haven't worn my backer t-shirt.

I went to the first show last night, EEGAH. It was a great show. I really hope they use the new riff for Eegah in the next season. They had host segments and everything for it. The new riff was really good, about on par with the original. I still wish they would reriff episodes that need improvement, rather than classics. I noticed a lot of extended singing riffs in this, which was nice. I didn't notice any issue with Tom's voice, although that could be that I haven't settled in to Baron being a definitive Tom Servo yet.

So I just came back from the secret MST3K Live! show, and I have to say I LOVE it! They seemingly fixed every legitimate thing people have been complaining about Season 11 (e.g. Riffs too fast, Riffs seeming unnatural and manufactured, Host Segments too short, Kinga not seeming evil enough, Tom Servo sounding too much like Crow and Jonah, etc. etc.). If anything, it really felt like I was, to paraphrase the thimbleweed park kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thimbleweedpark/thimbleweed-park-a-new-classic-point-and-click-adv/description), "like opening up a drawer and discovering a never-before-seen, uncirculated, classic MST3K tape".

That wasn't even the best part. Joel passed by my seat and I said hi and I showed him the lock screen from my iPhone, which is this:
(https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3910/32763003082_0c6fc60be8_n.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/RV9Xnu)
Even so, he said that he doesn't remember me. I forgive him, even though it is the third time we ever met…

Also, Frank Conniff was in the audience and we talked for a bit. Also, Eliot Kalan, the head writer was there as was Opus Moreschi, a writer for the show who also wrote for the Colbert Réport and then the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It was great getting to go over some concerns I had over the new episodes with them (such as one I had in "The Beast of Hollow Mountain").

I had such a great time that it really made me wish I saw the Eegah show too. :(

Lost my password and couldn't figure out which email address I used so not technically a new user.  Anyway, for those that have gone to the live shows, have any of the cast members done any kind of signing afterwards (or beforehand)?  It took me years to complete my MST3K autograph project, and then they had to go and do a new season!  I know in the past the Rifftrax gang has come out before shows and signed, and the Cinematic Titanic members sat down in the lobby and signed for anyone that wanted it, but with the various ticket packages and stuff, and the mention of the merch table with no cast members present, I've got a bad feeling about this. . .

The VIP meet and greets don't offer any chance for autographs. It was like an assembly line. Quick handshakes and very fast small talk, they take your pic and then move on to the next.   at my show in Boston, Jonah came out to the merch table after the meet and greet and was signing copies of his vinyl release and I was able to talk more to him then. Don't know if he is doing that at all the stops.

Ugh.  That doesn't sound very good.  Thanks for the info.  I was kind of hoping for the old days where they'd come out and sign afterwards.  I'll keep an eye on the merch table though.  Hopefully I don't have to buy an LP in order to get him to sign some photos as I have nothing on which to play vinyl!

Both shows were great!  I have to say the Super Secret Surprise Show was fantastic and wouldn't mind seeing it again.  If anyone from here was at the second show last night in Chicago, I'm the guy who asked, "When can we look forward to seeing the next season?"

As for the autographs, it was a 100% success!  I would be done with my new MST3K project if Felicia and Baron were there (already got Patton not too long ago when he was in town).  Got everyone else last night coming out of the theater except Jonah and Joel who slipped out.  But I ended up lucking out and running into them both on the street at separate times.  They were all super cool and nice!

But seriously, bring on season 12!!!!

He basically said, and I'm paraphrasing here, "yes, you can look forward to a new season, you can look forward as much as you want, but we haven't started one."  That's a very bad paraphrase.  He joked about saying sure you can look forward to it, but nothing's in the works yet.  He did go on to say that they currently have a 100% rotten tomatoes rating, and that currently they're the number one show on Netflix, so all of that bodes well for another season.  Someone followed up by asking what we can do to help make sure there's another one, and Joel said we should leave positive reviews on Netflix as he believes they keep track of that (but to be honest I'm not sure how one does that).  I wish he simply said, "Yes!  As soon as we're done with the tour we're going to start filming," but I'm guessing it's more likely than not that there will be more.

I predict they will announce Season 12 at San Diego Comic Con. There is far more evidence that there's going to be a Season 12 than not. I'd say a greater than 75% chance, even! Why would Netflix go through all the trouble of promoting the show at San Diego Comic Con if they were going to cancel it?

Yeah, I feel at this point the only reason we wouldn't get another one if everyone involved not to do one and that's VERY unlikely, cause they all seem pretty into it.

And it turns out I was wrong. Kinda. They didn't announce anything at SDCC. The series is still in limbo at this point in time.

Word is Joel said some optimistic things, but they can't announce it 'til there's something to announce, and it's not happening this weekend.

I'm glad they are bringing black and white movies back in the next season. And I hope they are a little more lenient on getting high quality prints and them being in widescreen, because that eliminates a lot of the really bad ones.

Yeah, they were kind of missing.  Not a fan of the juvenile delinquent riffs, though.  Those are usually the hardest to sit through, no matter how strong the actual riffs are.  Still haven't watched High School Big Shot all the way through.

Oh, but the teens in trouble movies gave us I Accuse My Parents, which is a series highlight.

Yeah, that's a genre I very much enjoy in the show.  High School Big Shot is a lot of fun, in my opinion.  It's a shame the show didn't have the foresight to make Teenage Crime Wave a Thanksgiving episode, since it actually takes place on Thanksgiving.

I would love to see more black and white older stuff here at Rifftrax too. At least once and a while. Hint, hint.

I would have to guess we'd be getting them if people bought them. There's no doubt that they have access to a heap of terrible black and white films.

Sa :'(

Actually, pardon me for getting away from the thread topic for a moment, but the best-selling rifftrax list that is on the home page--how is that calculated? Is that the best-sellers for the week? The month? Of all time? There is a black and white movie riff on there.

Just got back home from the Green Bay show. Was sorry to see that the theater was probably less than half full (especially since this is Joel's hometown). Great show though. Laughed more by far than during any of the season 11 episodes.

As far as Season 12 goes, the show opened with a Q and A and Joel pretty much just didn't answer the question someone asked about whether or not there will be one. However, there was an article in the local paper today that was mostly about Joel growing up in Green Bay (really in Ashwaubenon which is just south of Green Bay) and Joel said in that article that Netflix would be making their decision on Season 12 by the end of this month.

Even if Netflix doesn't pick up Season 12, I'm sure that Joel has backup plans. HULU or HBO or something.

My bet if Netflix passes would be Amazon.

One thing about the live show that I couldn't really figure out was whether or not the riffing was done live (the skits obviously were and the puppetry was outstanding). Jonah was obviously looking down at a script at times (which is a point towards thinking it was live) but there were no flubbed lines (at least not in the riffing-Jonah flubbed a line in one of the skits-he totally froze for about 15 seconds trying to remember the place name "Ashwaubenon" and then totally skewered the pronunciation-it was unintentionally funnier than if he had gotten the line right). Live riffing or not, either way it was a great show.

Other observations:
-Someone had remarked after an early show that at intermission Joel came down into audience and tried to get back all the spring snakes that were shot into the audience. That must have been a problem that was fixed by no longer shooting spring snakes into the audience. Some were shot on stage, but the ones pointed at the audience were kind of tethered to the t-shirt guns (similar to the old cartoons where when a gun was shot and a flag saying "bang" came out)
-I really liked the fill in Tom.

I think he flubbed a line in Boston and they started ripping on him about "welcome to live theater" or something.  (Does that sound right MrTorso? Or am I mixing it with a Rifftrax Live thing. They're all starting to blend together in my memory.)
