Yeah, I don't pay too much attention to E3 but when someone points out something cool I didn't see coming in terms of originality or innovation, that's always a delight.

Bit of an idea of what we'll see from Nintendo at E3:

Rare is working on a new game, and there's some evidence to suggest it might be Battletoads. I was a big fan of the original NES game, so here's to hoping we find out more at E3.

If you have an XB One, pick up their version of Shovel Knight. It has a Battletoads level. (PS4 got a fight with Kratos.)

Rock Band 4

Yep.

I've gotta start saving up for a PS4.  Being able to import all the tracks I've got on my PS3 is what finally is making me lean towards getting a PS4.  The lack of backwards compatibility was a pretty big turn off for me with upgrading the system.

So as an E3 pre-show, Nintendo talked Smash Bros. this morning.

They announced that in addition to Lucas, out today, they'll be announcing Roy (Of Fire Emblem fame) and Ryu (Of Street Fighter Fame.)

And all that is out today!

They'll all be getting Amiibos, too. I'm sure they'll be plentiful and readily available!

Speaking of, the Mr. Game and Watch Amiibo will come with multiple poses, that you can stick into the base. (So you don't feel too ripped off getting a 2-dimensional figurine).

There's also going to be a classic Dreamland stage and a Miiverse stage.

Those two things are out today, too!

While we wait for Bethesda to start their conference, here's what's leaked so far.

*Gears of War Remastered for XB1
*Earthbound Beginnings for WiiU
*Dishonored 2 for a gajillion systems
*Afro Samurai 2, because apparently someone was demanding it
*And a new SW: TOR expansion later this year.

And the Bethesda Conference.

Pipboy/Vaultboy is there:

And folks in the audience are getting issued these bracelets:

I'm presuming those will blow up at some point. After all, all glowing pieces of jewelry do that.
And the first announcement- Fallout 4 is for mobile devices!

Psyche. Put down the tar and feathers. Anyway, we start late because of course it does. After a while we finally get around to Doom. And hey, you're wearing the helmet from the cover art.

(And 450k viewers on Twitch now. Another 150k on Youtube. Wow. )

And Doom looks, well, pretty darn good from the scene showed. Yeah, probably prerendered, but if the actual gameplay comes close to how they're trying to present it, it looks rather fast paced and very shooty. Oh, and it'll have deathmatches too. 'cause Doom kinda started that, although Midimaze might disagree. And they also announce a "make you own map" feature, as Doom did that too back in the old days. Oh, so many "Alien Doom" wads back in the day... And the BFG makes an appearance right at the end. Spring 2016. Next gen and PC release.

Next up- Bethesda.net, because Ubi's version works soooooo well. And that leads into Battlecry, the "F2P game that you've forgotten about" as some called it. Looks Team Fortressy. Seems to be entering beta soon.

Arkane Studios shows up to talk about Dishonored 2. More steampunky. And hey, the protagonist(s) are returning character(s) from the first game. Next Gen release, but no date given. Oh, and Dishonored gets an XB1/PS4 HD release too.

Elder Scrolls Online. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLAY US! Look! New stuff! And our Orc Capital has a lot more buildings than Orgimmar does! How about a bear mount? I have a mortgage! Please, please, buy our game!

The CEO reappears with a tablet to promote Elder Scrolls: Legends, an online strategy card game nothing like Hearthstone. Or Gwent. F2P and on PC and iPad. The CEO then jokes that this is the end of the presentation and the crowd grabs torches and pitchforks. Good thing they issued those explosive bracelets, huh? Anyway, Fallout 4. They've been working on it since 2009. And it's got buttons! Lots of little buttons! And concept art! And spoilers!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh, and there's a puppy. Who's a good post-apocalyptic boy? You are! Yesyouare! And yep. Boston.  And the Collector's Edition comes with a Pipboy. And you can put your phone in it. And there will be a Pipboy app. It's "The best stupid gimmick I have ever fucking seen."

Oh, and there's a mobile Fallout game  coming too. Ha ha! My trolling wasn't really trolling! It was actually true! Well, it's Fallout Shelter and you build your own Vault and try to keep it productive and happy. Oddly, they based it on Progress Quest. Which was completely non-interactive, so I'm not quite sure how that's the case. Honestly, it looks kinda cute. It's free too. Not "Dungeon Keeper" free but free. And it'll be on the Appstore tonight. Yeah, PC and Android folks, we're hosed  on it.

Back to Fallout 4. You can use materials in the world to actually rebuild it. Houses, merchants, food , power, defenses, etc. Holy cow, an optimistic post-apoc game! And a very, very robust crafting system that borrows a bit from Dead Island. And I did see someone's head blown off with a teddy bear. Launch date- November 10, 2015. Yep. This year.

Yeah, that hype train is steaming out of the building full steam.

Aw, the folks there got  Doom, Dishonored and Fallout figures. Good lord, 528, 000 on Twitch.

Yeah, I think most people will be calling that presentation a success.

Xbox Conference

There's a general PC games presentation tomorrow, so this will be a primarily Xbox panel. And let's see if the word “Kinect” shows up at any time during the panel.

And we start with an "XBox stuff is awesome" montage with various characters from the franchises. Oh hey. There's Lara Croft. Hi! And then 343 shows up to talk about "The greatest lineup in XBox history." Challenge accepted.

First up- Halo 5. It's very epic. Oh, a photo-realistic Nathan Fillion. Wasn't he already in this series? The snippet shows other Spartans, but I'm not sure if they're promoting Co-op or they're just tagging along with you ingame. And Halo multiplayer is going to 24 people in a match.

BTW, cameraman? We don't care about looking at the crowd looking at the trailer. Stop cutting away.

And a "world premiere."  New IP time. From the Metroid Prime maker. Female protag and robot dog, for those filling up bingo spaces. Oh, and they killed the dog. Looks like the cries from last night to not kill him were unheard. Anyway, it's called recore. Futuristic and little robo-doggie can switch into various robot bodies. And they double down on "Greatest lineup in XBox history."

Over to XBL and... wow. Xbox One backwards compatibility. Well, that's a nice surprise. Some digital titles, others where you just stick in the disc. And they play Mass Effect to start with it. Mass Effect XB1 exclusive! Heh. Anyway, this should show up around the holidays.

New "Elite" controller for the fall. D-pad looks different. You can swap pieces out. Remap paddles. Nice, I guess, but my $15 third party controller still works fine. The pro players will swoon though.

Oh hey, Fallout 4 guy again. It'll be on XB1. Not really a surprise there. Same footage as last night. Couldn't whip up new stuff in 12 hours? Slackers. Oh, wait. New combat footage with a "laser musket" and stuff that wasn't around last night. Yeah, nevermind my snark. Nice mech armor action though. Oh, and XB1 purchasers get a copy of Fallout 3 too. Oh, and PC mods? You can use them on the XB1 too. That's interesting.

Over to EA's Peter Moore, the most evil man in the universe. XB1 still has EA Access, the sub thing for EA titles. This includes Titanfall and later this summer, Dragonage. And if you're XBL gold, you have access to the service for the rest of the week. Oh, and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is announced. Yay? How about a better PvZ 2 game not filled with microtransactions, huh? Oh, and the trailer uses "Danger Zone" for bingo players. For those who care, you seem to be on the offensive here, trying to reclaim the city from the zombies.

And now an ad for Ford. Apparently the Ford GT will be in Forza 6. Oh hey. There's one on stage. Do we get one if we pur... no? Don't be an idiot? Fine. And Henry Ford III appears. Seriously. While the Forza trailer plays, I look up the GT's price. $400k. Wowsers. Anyway, Forza will be a slight improvement over Forza 5.

Another world premiere. Skeksis? No, that seems unlikely. Well, it's got a giant, whatever it... oh, it's Dark Souls III.  Probably not an exclusive.

Over to Ubi. Hey, it's The Division! (And Duran Duran's "Ordinary World" in the trailer, just in case you missed Kenny Loggins earlier.) We'll see more of this at the Ubi conference where we'll be reassured that it's better than Watch Dogs. Okay, and a French guy promoting "Tome Clancee" seems really wrong.  And Rainbow Six :Siege comes with older Rainbow Six titles that I missed due to my being snarky. New trailer for Siege. Betas for both games XB exclusive.

And a Win 10/ XB exclusive. A team fighter game. Gigantic, which is from some of the Dawngate folks, IIRC.

And an indy montage! I'm already 5-6 titles behind! Goat Simulator! Below! Ark! Behemoth's Game 4! Superhot! Cuphead! Sword Tales!

And now the Gone Home guy is talking about "Tacoma." What has happened to the crew of Lunar Transport Tacoma? I dunno, did they elope with their girlfriend? Frigging Gone Home. "Ashen" up next. Not sure what's going on, but nice art style. "Beyond Eyes" an adventure game starring a blind girl imaging the world around her. That may be another bingo space. Looks pretty though. "Cuphead!"The retro-30s cartoonish platformer game about two people with cups for heads forced to do the Devil's bidding. No, seriously. And then an early access program for XBL is announced. Oh, yay. I can play a never finished game on XB1 now too. Titles include Day Z, Elite Dangerous, Hinterlands and the Long Dark.

And the Day Z guy shows up to talk about a game that's not a game. Oh, Gone Home. Oh, he means Ion. It's set in space? Not a really helpful trailer.

Rise of the Tomb Raider. Oh, they've turned it into a Cooking Mama clone. That's an odd choice. Oh, wait. I'm hallucinating again. She's climbing a mountain. And there's an avalanche. And running from stuff. And a lot of other things which will have me watching the death animation and then reloading from a checkpoint. Over and over and over and over again. And I swear that some of the things shown in the trailer were from other TR games. Holiday this year.

Rare! And their new title is...the Rare replay. 30 Rare games for $30.  August 4, 2015. (And Fatboy Slim in the trailer.)  Well, that's a great deal and Conker's in it. And the real new title is (Actual Gameplay Footage. Bingo box!) a pirate game. Arrr. An MMO pirate game? Arrr? "Sea of Thieves." And no more info. Oh well. At least they're still working.

Win 10/XB1- this looks Fabley. Yeah, Fable Legends. It's F2P though. Crossplay between XB1 and PC. And ... they mention Valve VR.  The audience gasps. So, Microsoft is affiliated with Occulus and Valve Vr now. Interesting. And they add in the Microsoft Hololens, untethered holograms. Dream Park inbound, baby. And Mojang shows up. No, not Notch. He's in Vegas spendiing $10k on stippers each night. Anyway, the suit talks some about the Hololens version of Minecraft. Hey, a Surface in mentioned! That's another bingo card box! And the Minecraft screen moves to a boxtop. Wow. Crap. If this is real footage, that's pretty damn impressive. (Okay, they're using a special camera. The guy with the headset sees the hologram IRL. We just see a blank table without the lens.  Nonetheless, if the headset shows the same stuff the camera is, that's still damn impressive.)

And Gears of War Ultimate Edition. The first game remastered for XB1. Multiplayer beta starts today. And we go to some more actual gameplay footage. (And I'd crank the gamma waaaay up here. Way too dark.) And Gears of War 4 gets announced. Holiday 2016.

Phil Spencer again. 5 big titles before the end of the year. (Fables, Halo, Tomb Raider, Forza, and the old Gears, which doesn't really count.) Please upgrade from a 360 to XB1! More stuff on the XB daily shows. "And the stuff we missed today, like Crackdown and Quantum Break, will be at Gamescom." Jerk.

Well, that's it. Yeah, not a home run, but there weren't any mistakes either, except maybe for EA's bit.  However, a lot of folks were saying that Xbox needed to wow us with this presentation and I don't know if they hit that target.

And while I wait for the EA conference, more Goat Simulator news: MMOre Goatz on the way. Well, they're making money.

And now, the EA trainwreck, which won't be as bad as the Ubi one.

And we start with a bang. Johnny Cash and Mass Effect: Andromeda. It's out next year.

Then EA promises 3 new IPs, Mirror's Edge and "A living sports legend" plus Star Wars. SW: Battlefront will be at the end of the show.  First up, cars! Need for Speed. Go to Venture Bay, build rep (Goblin Rep. They run Venture after all) and run through five different stories. Customize! Oh, and I guess you can drive too. Oh. Live action cutscenes. Yay. Dubstep too. Double yay. I am glad to see though that the person allegedly driving in this bit hits as many random objects as I do.  Nov 3

And EA is popping up banners on screen letting us know what's up next. In this case, it's Star Wars: The Old Republic. Hey, there's an expansion later this year, Knights of the Fallen Empire. More story! More like KOTOR! Oct 27.  Aw, those kids just build a lightsaber. I had to quest for mine and beat up a Twilek. Very nice CGI work though.

A reminder, SW: Battlefront is later! Stay tuned! Now, new IP- Unravel. You're a kitten made out of yarn? Aw. There's a real life version of him. Cute. Anyway, you're using yarn to connect the missing parts of your life in a physics based game. And the yarn follows you everywhere.

Danger zone! Oh, it's Garden Warfare 2 again. Rats. A new Top Gun game would be nice. Or even an Archer game. Anyway, GW has had 6 million players. Zombies grabbed the suburbs and now the plants must attack and get it back. And LIVE GAMEPLAY DEMO! (Bingo spot.) With giant robot zombies.I'll admit, watching the gameplay it looks like it might be mindlessly fun, but I don't think I'll be going out of my way to play it. Oh, and there's a single player mode too. Plus, folks who actually did play GW can transfer their stuff to the sequel. Plus constant free content updates to reward the players and make sure the game doesn't end up deserted like Titanfall. (cough)

And now (sigh) EA sports.  First up, Hockey. And I think we got a quote from "Miracle" there. You get a league! Grats, NHL players. Then over to golf! (Those fantasy course do look amazing too.) Next- Ultimate teams! Buy cards and stuff!  I'm not sure how that works with golf, but hey, let's run with it. And training modes in all games! Wow! Over to NBA Live! You can scan in your face and get it in game. Not really a gameplay feature but yay? Maybe for a "Road to the Show" style playmode? Note to NHL fans, they've now spent about 3 times as much time on the "make your face" thing than they did on NHL 16. Enjoy!

And now mobile games. I guess we'll get back to FIFA and Madden. You can play them on your Apple watch now too! And Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. It's a mobile CCG game. Yep. They want that Hearthstone money. Next up, Minons paradise. A builder game featuring the guys from my Banana Twinkies.Oh, I mean the Despicable Me films. And Mass Effect fans? This segment is five minutes longer than our look at ME:A. Enjoy!

British voices! That must mean Feeeefa. Oh, hi Pele.  He gets a standing ovation as well. Yeah, no snark while you're on the screen. Geez. He's 74. He looks 30 years younger. He speaks to the EA guy for a while and then wanders off.  Now that the legitimate sports legend has left, back to the EA show. The new FIFA allows you to dribble and pass the ball, sometime through a group of defenders. Oooooh.  And women's teams are now in the game. Take that, Assassin's Creed! And note NBA fans, I'm pretty sure that the WNBA folks aren't in that one. Oh, and Feefa players get a Pele card in their ultimate packs as a gift.

What the heck? Where'd that 2 pt font size comes from? Oh, hey. Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. Oepn world-ish. No levels. No loading screens. Story missions. Side quests. Still a gorgeous art style. Feb 23, 2016. (In Game Footage! Bingo space.) You know, Faith may not use guns, but I'm pretty sure kicking someone out of the window of a skyscraper is pretty lethal.  And this may be the first martial arts fight under falling cherry blossoms in a videogame. Purdy.

And Madden, featuring the Patriots. Who get booed by the crowd. Blah, blah happy talk. Fantasy drafts every day. Yeah, take that fantasy draft sites that advertise during my shows. And the crowd boos the Seahawks too. Fickle crowd.

Peter Moore, evil incarnate, now appears. It's something by Dice. Oh, Star Wars Battlefront.  I'm truly surprised. After babbling for a while we get *Gasp* actual gameplay! I'm sure TB is griping about the size of the gun models as I type this. Anyway, it looks very, very nice. Nov 17.

Up next- the hand grenade that is Ubisoft.

And Ubi. This could be very good or it might be more girl wood.

And the first announcement: South Park: The Fractured But Whole.  It's superheroes this time. And Matt and Trey arrive. Well, might as well just drop the mike now. "We said that we'd never make another video game, but we're whiny bitches. Plus at the end of Stick of Truth, we kinda figured out how to make a good video game."

(https://o.twimg.com/2/proxy.jpg?t=HBiiAWh0dHA6Ly9yYWNrLjIubXNoY2RuLmNvbS9tZWRpYS9aZ2t5TURFMUx6QTJMekUxTHpCaUwxTnZkWFJvVUdGeWExUm9MbVkxTWpaa0xuQnVad3B3Q1hSb2RXMWlDVFUyTUhnM05UQUtaUWxxY0djLzdlZTdjM2FlL2NkYS9Tb3V0aC1QYXJrLVRoZS1GcmFjdHVyZWQtQnV0LVdob2xlLmpwZxTgCBT0BAAWABIA&s=oHROEUueXb2TOK9Szji5Z4gvOJdkpXsJnnm9MsVFLbM)

Aisha Tyler babbles for a while and then the Ubi CEO arrives. And he's got a surprise. It's a new IP. It's got knights and vikings. And samurai. And accountants? Well, no. Not those. It's "For Honor" a melee based "team game play" game.

Expansion packs! The Crew: Wild Run. Aisha notes that you can not drive to the moon. But the expansion pack gives you nitro burning funny cars and monster trucks. Trials Fusion: Awesome Level Max! With fire breathing unicorns! And triple rainbows!

The Division. And after years, we see gameplay. Over in New York, the lights are still on, somehow. You'd think transformers would blow or something after a lot of people die from viruses.  Apparently it can be very backstabby in the game. Hands on playable at the con though. Beta early next year. Geez. We're still a year out? March 8, 2016 release.

City Builder time. This time it's off planet! It's on the moon! You know, that place you can't drive to? Gameplay shows that you start on Earth and when you're good enough, you're moon-bound. Anno 2205. Nov 3.  And hopefully, the moon stuff comes early as I never got too far in the Anno games and don't really want to suffer through another Earth city builder for too long.

Aisha interviews a cosplayer from AC: Syndicate before we plunge into Just Dance 2016. Wow. Awkward segway there. And it's the "Biggest music game of all time!" At least until OCt, when Rock Band smashes it like a grape.  And while someone who I don't recognize sings, I'll note that you no longer need a camera for the game. You can now use a smart phone to replace the Kinect or Wii monitor or whatever PS uses. Well, that's actually good. Oh. Jason Derulo. And he's hitting on Aisha. Aw. It's like a terrier trying to catch a mack truck.  Also announced, a streaming service for the songs.

More games. Rainbow Six Siege. Hey, it's Angela Bassett. Well the room just became much, much classier. Gameplay - Solo, Co-Op, Vs.

Trackmania heads to the consoles. Includes a "Just randomly create a track for me" mode, which looks rather useful for fans.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Still set in London. This time you've got an Oliver-esque cast of orphans to assist you. I hope they sing. In South Park: Assassin's Creed, they'd sing. It's another AC game. Demos available at E3 or in 7 cities across Europe and Oz. No mention of laaadies though.

Back to the CEO. He's got a surprise. The return of an old property. You're taking out South American drug cartels. I'd say JC3, but that's Squeenix.  It's open world. It's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Well, that is a surprise.

Not bad. Aisha swore less than last year, where she swore like a sailor. A couple of surprise announcements.

Up later- Sony.

We're about 5-6 months before it's supposed to launch, so it is a bit light.

Sony Time.

Sooooo many smartphones in the crowd. And we start with a montage of Sony stuff. I spotted what's his name from Kingdom Hearts in there.

First up- Wow! PS4 is powerful! We're strong! And gamers come first, which is the theme of every conference so far. First title is long anticipated by the community. It's got Friendship and stuff! Japanese director. I'm guessing not CoD. Giant puppy bird thing! If this is what I think it is, folks are going to freak. Well, hell has indeed frozen over. It's The Last Guardian. 2016 release. The director is out sitting in the audience.

New IP from Guerrilla games. Post apocalyptic "after the cities fell." Stone age hunter hunting giant robot critters. Not sure why since, you know, no meat on them. Horizon: Zero Dawn is the title.

Squeenix. "Moroccan Bank Scandal!" Well, Kingdom Hearts 3 is off to a weird start. Oh, it's Hitman. Huh. Did that go exclusive? Oh, no. Console and PC. Beta first on PS4 and 6 exclusive contracts for them too.

Now up, console exclusive Street Fighter V. Apparently Cammy's in it. PS4 (And PC) only. Beta July 23.

Hello Games arrives to show off No Man's Sky. "Every point of light is a sun." Well, yes. That is how it works. You do stuff in it!

Now "The genius minds of a studio challenge how we create." It's Media Molecule and "Dreams." You  explore people's dreams and use the system to build your own.

Up next- "Firewatch" an "intense mystery in the Wyoming Wilderness where your only lifeline is the voice of a woman on the other end of the radio."

Hey,remember Destiny? Well, there's an expansion. Gosh I hope Peter Dinklage  sounds as disinterested in this one as he did in the base game. New stuff exclusively on PS4.

Cameramen? Please stop showing the damn crowd instead of what's on screen. That adds nothing to the presentation.

Over to Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. Oh, hey. A twin sister. You would have thought that Ubi might have mentioned her in their confer... wait. How does that work in game? You only go back to your ancestors. They can't both be... well, okay. I guess you can, but ew.

Final Fantasy, and not FF XV.It's got chibi FF heroes and monsters. World of Final Fantasy, a PS4/Vita exclusive.

More Squeenix. A beloved title. And it looks like the rumors are true. A Final Fantasy VII remake. Well, son of a bitch. That's going to sell some systems. First to PS4.

Devolver. 4 games. Ronin, Mother Russia Bleeds, Eityr, Crossing Souls. Crossing Souls has a neat 80s cartoons vibe to it.

Kickstarter titles? Shenmue 3. And it just went live.

And over to Arkham Knight. Next week, BTW. PS 4 exclusive Scarecrow missions.

And Kickstarter is getting hammered. Geez.

Finally, Project Morpheus, the VR thingee.

Oooh. PS is offering a "pay per channel" option for cable channels. Please let that happen.$30 a month for the channels I actually watch would be great.

And Activision -  Call of Duty Black Ops 3. Looks like Sony tossed more money at Activision than Microsoft this year.  I don't see the folks who've been playing on XB for years suddenly switching platforms though. Oh, and there's multiplayer in BOPs3 too. CoOp vs enemies and deathmatches too. What an incredible development! Anyway, PS4 gets map packs and betas first.

$207k pledged for Shenmue so far.

Oh, hey. Vita. Amplitutde. Persona Dancing All Night. Tony Hawk. Ratchet & Clank.

And Star Wars music. And instead on Battlefront, we see Infinity3.0. PS4 gets an exclusive edition, with a month lead on any other platform. PS4 gets Boba Fett before 2016 as well. And Battlefront shows up now. At the EA panel, they made a point to note that "it was shown from PS4 hardware" during their presentation. "We're the console destination for Star Wars."

Shenmue? $428k.

And now to close the event, a title that needs no introduction. It's Uncharted 4, in case you do need an introduction. And after the intro, Nathan Drake just stands there for a minute. And then they reset the console. Awesome.  Well, at least it wasn't a prerendered demo. Hell of a car chase to start that game.

And it's over. Well, it started off slow, but then boom. The "We'll never do that" release of an HD FFVII.  That's going to be enough to move a lot of units, even with timed exclusivity.

Glad I don't have time to play games or I'd have to choose which other system to buy...

Earlier today at the EA conference. They're not having a separate panel. SW: TOR expansion in fall and ME:Andromeda next year.

I just wish they'd have picked 8 or 9.  7 is going to require major model overhauls.  You can't just tack on high-rez textures like you can with other HD remakes or ports, like Beyond Good and Evil or FFX.
Title: Re: E3 2015
Post by: Compound on June 15, 2015, 08:02:12 PM
Oh, they've said before that they'd basically have to completely remake it. I'm guessing that things at SE got dire enough that they hit the "Well, we don't have a choice" point.
Title: Re: E3 2015

I just hope they can keep the continuity straight and not give the characters the wrong stuff (like spin-off or movie outfits when they shouldn't have them).

I don't often say this, but Sony put on a darn good show this year.

Horizon has a unique and interesting setting, The FF7 remake is huge. Shenmue 3 is GIGANTIC (If you're of a certain fanbase, which I am...) No Man's Sky still looks awesome. Firewatch is intriguing. That car chase in Uncharted looked pretty cool, too.

Bravo, Sony.

True. However, they do have the option of using the models from the Advent Children movie, at least as a starting point. I'm curious how much asset sharing they will do in the end.

This plus The Last Guradian almost had me sold on a PS4, but then it said 'coming to PS4 first', meaning it'll probably come to PC eventually. The Last Guarian looks awesome, but not enough to justify buying a whole system.

But if No Man's Sky turns out well...

Fallout 4 modding on Xbox1. This is great news for console owners, the first moddable game. I have no idea how they will make it work but it's still pretty great news.

I can't imagine there will be any mods that effect performance, mods like EMBs, shaders, or texture packs. But I could still see them getting story, mechanics, weapons, armors, and character mods.

There is also Bethesda.net which I haven't found a ton of info on. It sounds like a Uplay or Origin for Bethesda games. This doesn't bother me as long as they make it work well. I also hope they'll still release their games on Steam.

Okay, Nintendo PR time.

I walked in a minute or two late, but they've been talking Star Fox Zero, which I guess is for WiiU.

The theme for this event is transformation. Must resist so many jokes here.

Later this year, Super Mario Maker which was shown during the Nintendo Championships over the weekend. Evil, evil levels were seen.

More Amiibos! Yay. And to do that, we talk Skylanders, which is adding vehicles. And Nintendo characters, Bowser and Donkey Kong. Yes, you'll need to buy some Skylander figures too, and by moving their base they can be used as either Skylanders or Amiibos.

Zelda Tri-Froce Heroes for 3ds. It's multiplayer and looks like a Zelda game crossed with Lost Vikings.

Hyrule Warriors Legends comes to the 3ds as well. All the stuff from the WiiU, plus a few more levels.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force for the 3ds. A 4 person co-op game in the Prime Universe.

Fire Emblem Fates. 3ds. 2016

From Atlus- Mirage Masters. Persona crossed with an idol game? I dunno how to describe it.

Now something with Mech suits. Oh, Xenoblade Chronicles. Holiday this year.

Animal Crossing. But this time you appear to be a real estate agent/Interior Decorator for other folks. Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. Later this year. 3ds

More Animal crossing. This one's a boardgame that uses the Amiibos. Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. WiiU. Holiday.

And a gajillion Yoshis made of Yarn. From the story, it sounds like one of the office staff made a yarn Yoshi and the programmers decided to turn it into a game. Yoshi's Wooly World. Oh, and you can use your Amiibos to change Yarn Yoshi into, say, Yarn Samus Yoshi. WiiU? October

Yokai Watch. Pokemon crossed with with a JRPG crossed with Fatal Frame. 3ds. 2015

A Paper Mario/ Super Mario crossover. 3ds "Mario/ Luigi Paper Jam"

More Mario Tennis. And Peach looks about 10 feet tall in it.

Back to Super Mario Maker. Fun fact- the original levels were drawn on graph paper which the programmers then used to make the course. Oh, an 8-bit Mario Amiibo. And 100 Best Buys will be hosting demos of SMM.

And a reminder that Super Mario Bros is 30 years old. There's a neat montage of folks playing the theme song, which I'm sure will be posted by Nintendo somewhere. Celebrate with a Rifftrax! http://www.rifftrax.com/super-mario-bros

And Square-Enix  time.

Pre-show we learn that Rico in Just Cause 3 will have unlimited grenades and explosives. Lots and lots of booms. And appropriately, the show starts with JC3 and Rico, blowing lots of stuff up.

SE CEO- "Yeah, we've screwed a lot of stuff up, but we're changing." CEO also promises to support games for much longer after release and uses the JC2 multiplayer patch as support for that.

More Just Cause 3 stuff. You're in the Med. Maybe you meet beloved Maltan mascot Goosio?  Launch date- Dec 1. Next Gen and PC. The bad guy's name is Rebello? Stop getting naming tips from George Lucas, folks. Anyway, I suspect if you thought that JC2 was too tame, you'll love this one.

Over to Business Division Six. No, I don't know what it is, but it sounds cool. Yosuke Saito shows off a Platinum title. It's a new Neir game for the PS4. All we see is a teaser though. And then this guy talks about it:

(shakes head) Japan. Or possibly Buckethead. One of the two. More information about Neir in the fall.

Lara Croft time. "We're putting the tomb back into Tomb Raider."

Joy. Mobile titles. Lara Croft Go.

Montage! The FFXIV expansion, which launches later this week. Life is Strange. Dragonquest Heroes.

And someone from Kingdom Hearts. And the series director isn't being translated, so no idea what he just said. But they're showing the FFVII trailer from the Sony show. And the exec and translator are back. "More info on FFVII later!" Oh, and the PS4 port of the PC version is still on the way, buy delayed. Also FFVII on iOS. And Kingdom Hearts said again. And a trailer! For something that isn't KH3. Looks like the art style from the Theatrix games. Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key for smartphones. And very tepid applause. And now he discusses KH3. Frigging tease.

So, Kingdom Hearts 3. Some Disney folks pimp it, the director of Tangled, I think. And the exec is back to continue not showing KH3. Oh look. Actual footage. The crowd is "wooing" in the background as Sora shoots stuff. Sora shows off his Teacup attack. XB1/ PS4. No release date, but one very loud fan in the audience. He probably shouts "Freebird" a lot.

And the exec keeps talking about World of Final Fantasy. FYI, this is not the finely polished production that the other press conferences so far have been. Lots of production issues. WoFF is still very chibi. Sounds like Laura Bailey narrating though. "Play it first on PS4/Vita." WoFF is a game for both adults and children and they can both play together. Oh, that's not a good sign.

From chibi Final Fantasy, we head to Hitman. And Sora's in this one too! Or not. December 8 release date. "A continual new release of new locations and contracts." Also speaking of one-time missions. A target appears for a limited time. You have one chance to take him out. Basically an ironman mission. Yeah, that won't be stressful.  Different trailer from the Sony one taling about how many different ways you can eliminate the targets.

Montage! Hitman! Triad Wars! FF XV! Wait, they have a car in FF XV?

Sqeenix X Tri-Ace New Project. Star Ocean? Yeah, here's the past Star Ocean games leading to... Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. Really? That's your title? Oh, Japan. NA and EU release confirmed for PS4. (Previously is was JP only.) And a trailer. With lots and lots of running. And pretty seamless battle starts, which are actually pretty neat. Sometime in 2016. "We had too many cutscenes in SO4 and we want to break away from the idea that JRPGs are nothing more than movies interrupted by brief bits of gameplay."  Hallelujah. I'm looking at you, FF. And Metal Gear.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. "A mechanical apartheid." And an in-game trailer. I guess "in-game" means cutscenes as that's what they're showing. Oh wait. There's about 20 seconds of what might be gameplay in there. Never mind. That was totally a gameplay trailer.

And the Japanese CEO appears. Speaking stiltedly, but in English, which is better than I can do in Japanese.

Final Fantasy Portal App. It's an app. I guess it does stuff.

And "A New RPG Project" from a new studio, Toyko RPG Factory. Oh, I hope it turns out better than the disaster at the C&C Music Factory. See here (http://www.rifftrax.com/cool-as-ice) for details. Anyway, they're working on "Project Setsuna." 2016 release.

"We're spreading happiness across the globe!" And the rest of the presenters return to the stage. Nightmare fuel guy still has his hat.

Well, not nearly as polished as the other panels, but a lot of info on some games and depressingly little on others.

Nope. No mention of Sims 4. And while various women-types were at the panel (the person from Dice, for example) I don't think she was one of them. EA and everyone else are giving little mini-presentations throughout the week, so maybe info in the next day or two.

PC Games Conference. Final one, thankfully.

And it begins with someone upgrading a PC accompanied by classical music. And dew, served in a glass. Montage! Civ! Papers plase! Half life! Crusader! Wing Commader! Grim Fandango! Diablo! Shovel Knight! Someone crying! Minecraft! Wow, that was pretentious!

And our host, Sean "Day 9" Plott, who needs to adjust his tie. Very different vibe than the other panels. More talk show-y.

First up, Killing Floor 2. Still in early access. More stuff enroute, but the developer is a wee bit rambly. But a secret project! Looks Vietnam-y and the music suggests that too. Why can't any Vietnam game have a nice dubstep soundtrack? Oh, yeah. Historical accuracy. Anyway, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. Neat.

Up next, a video recording from Chris "Star Citizen" Roberts, who is too busy diving into his money vault to attend. CR is doing mo-cap stuff for the ground game. PC gamers, you helped fund this! We'll have stuff there next year! Now, back to eating my Faberge eggs.

The Chief Gaming Scientist from AMD arrives with a briefcase. Hmm. I wonder if I can change my job title to that? We're not a gaming company, but I'm sure the boss wouldn't mind. New Raedon cards released this morning, the R9 380. I switch attention to watching Unity and most of the Freedom Five fight the Ennead for a minute while they chat about video cards. Hey it's Mr. Chompers! And Sean is handed a briefcase, which he can't open until later in the show. Then back to the video card chat. And the endless segment finally ends. Back to games!

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. "Wooos" from the crowd. They show off the new graphic engine. There's a lot of cucumbers in the shot. Not a euphemism, just a bunch of vegetables. Then some gameplay.

Someone in the audience shouts out "Half-Life 3" and Sean shuts them down. Total War time, accompanied by a dirgish rendition of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." I don't recall the peasants waving flags when I played Empire or Napoleon though. And the next one is Warhammer, who only make an appearance at the very end. It'll be all Warhammery, with spiky bits and all. And probably very buggy on release.

A brief pause to toss this in:

Now Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. Because PC Gaming. On PCs. (shakes head) Anyway, Win 10 is being designed to help developers make stuff for PCs and XB1 easier and cross platform and stuff. Oh, and Killer Instinct is coming to PC. And more folks joins the Xbox guru, folks from Fable Legends and Gigantic who talk about the games I covered yesterday. Then Rod Fergusson arrives to talk about Gears of War, which is also coming to PC. Goody. Xbox is losing a lot of exclusives though. Will Halo finally return to PC before this is all over?

And Day 9 sells out to put on a trucker hat and promote American Truck Simulator, the sequel to Euro Truck Simulator. Okay, I'll buy that one.

VR talk time, and my eyes start to glaze over again. Someone from the Eve company shows up to talk about their VR title. Day 9 plays it title in his usual "Oh, I'm not good at this at all" way. The game is quite pretty though.

FYI- Shenmue 3 is at 2.8 million at the moment. Yes, a bit bored.

The Day Z guy returns to talk about his game that isn't Day Z. He talks a bit about early access. "It's tough." His new game, Ion,  is about managing a space station. You now know 10,000% more about the game than you did last night. You're welcome. And apparently Ion had a bug where when you clicked on another player, all their organs fall out. Yeah, that seems like a bug all right.

And now, time to dance! Or play a demo of Strafe. Either or. Strafe is very voxel Doom-y.

A Pillars of Eternity expansion is announced- The White March: Part 1. I'm guessing Rachel Dolezal will be skipping this one. The CEOs of Paradox and Obsidian arrive to talk about the XP.

Checking Twitter, is appears that a fake Valve site announced Half Life 3. Not the real Valve, folks.

The Elite Dangerous head arrives, starts talking and then stops. Stage fright? Just forgot his speech?  He then resumes after a heart breakingly long moment of silence to talk about a new game, which is a revival of an old game. Planet Coaster, which I've never heard of, but looks cute. Very RollerCoaster Tycoon-ish.

Guild Wars 2 expansion. Yep, that will be out later this year. And to claim a guild hall, apparently you need to clear out a dungeon or something.  The word "Guild" is used an awful lot. Prepurchases open about 30 seconds ago.

Hitman. The developer actually looks like Agent 47. But his mike isn't on, which the crowd starts yelling about, to no avail. They end up using Sean's mike, which ends up looking like this:

Hitman looks good but I always saw it last night and earlier today, so not much more left to say.

The CEO of AMD arrives. Her mike actually works. She starts talking about brand new video cards and oh dear lord the room is spinning due to my complete lack of caring. It's like I'm listening to a life insurance sales pitch. Sean finally gets around to the mysterious briefcase, which he then drops on the desk. D'oh. Sean opens the case and it's a new GPU card. Which is probably broken. AMD shows off a little computer too:

From Bohemia Interactive, the Arma III folks announce an expansion. Tanoa. It's a series of very pretty islands and 100 sq. km of terrain to move around. 2016. The developers mention that dinosaurs would be great on the island. Hint, hint.

The Beyond Eyes creator appears. You're still blind in the game and it's still perversely very pretty.

Dirty Bomb. It's a team shooter.

Tacoma. You're exploring a space station. It's from the Gone Home people.

Soma, a game from the Amnesia people. It's an undersea horror game.

Day Z, this time with a guy who still works on the project. It's been on early access for 18 months now and apparently 18 still to go. There's a single player option on the way though.

We now hit the 2 hour mark of the panel.

Take on Mars, another thing from the Arma guys.More mutliplayer survivor stuff, but on Mars. And the Moon. And a space station.

Cliffy B arrives. He retired, got bored and then came back to gaming. It's "Project Blue Streak", a 5v5 shooter and it features a lot of AoE weapons, since the old folk can't aim well any more. Plus he needs a keyboard and mouse, not a controller.

Enter the Gungeon- a bullet hell dungeon crawler.  Yep.

Blizzard arrives to talk HotS. Heart of the Swarm? Oh, Heroes of the Storm and its first expansion, Eternal Conflict. It's a selection of Diablo arenas and champions. Templar, monk, The Butcher, Skeleton King and Dekard Kain gets to speak again. June 30 release for it. Oh, and treasure goblins spawns in it. And then Sean pushes for Starcraft II info but doesn't get anything other than "coming soon" and a 3 mission beta coming in July.

Oh, the final guest. Huzzah. And at the 2 hour 30 mark.  Oh, hey. It's PS4's No Man's Sky. Whoops. Guess it's not as exclusive as we thought as it's coming to PC. Simultaneous PS4 and PC release.
And some folks who were going to buy a PS4 are suddenly off that bandwagon.

Oh, hey. Many of the folks on the show were also sponsors. What an odd coincidence. Freedom! Now the attendees all head off to their various parties.

If Dogmeat cannot die he will be very OP. You could just send him into an area and wait outside until all the XP racks up. I guess it doesn't really matter because if someone is lame enough to play like that they deserve the boredom.

Finally got to take in the Nintendo conference.

Woo! Paper Mario! And Mario & Luigi! Together! As a huge fan of both, I can't wait.
Star Fox Zero looks awesome.
The new Animal Crossing Home Designer thingy looks like a trap that will rob me of hours and days of my life if I step inside.
The Animal Crossing board game- not so much. Maybe if it's more than just a board game, somehow. Need more info.
Metroid? Yeah. Need more info there, too.
Yoshi's Wooly World is a must-have.
Fire Emblem Fates is a must have.
Fire Emblem/Persona=????
Yokai Watch has my attention.
Mario Maker looks a lot more tempting than it did last year.
Triforce Heroes better be fun in single-player mode, because there's no way I'm gonna be able to round up a threesome.
I want that 8-Bit Mario Amiibo. Also, I'm not getting Skylanders, but I"m totally getting Magma Bowser. Probably Donkey Kong, too.

I like your take on it Pak.

I am generally pretty positive about it too, although I don't have a 3DS, so there was very little to surprise me.

I think Nintendo will drop another title before the week is out though.

(No comment on Mario Tennis?)

Mario Tennis is the series I keep meaning to pick up and never do. I can get into Mario as a baseball player, or a golfer, but for some reason I can never plunk down the money for his tennis games..

And some of the overnight news:
*New PS4 media player.
*Faith can't use guns at all in Mirror's Edge. Most people tried the first one in pacifist mode, so not too surprising.
*Bethesda- "No, Fallout Shelter wasn't a money grab."

And apparently during the Sony presser, this was revealed:

Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star.

You're still dating birds but there's a tank there...?

Mario Tennis is probably my preferred Mario Sports game, although I've not tried the golf one and I imagine that would work pretty well. (And by preferred I mean I played it more than once - It's not a wing of Mario games I really go in for)

I watched the Treehouse presentation of that bananas Fire Emblem/whatsit mashup game.

I feel like I understand it now, but am kind of diappointed by how not bananas the gameplay looked. It looks really quite generic once you start playing it.

I saw several hosts on Twitch order iPads on Sunday after the Bethesda panel. Me? I can wait a month for it and save the hundreds of bucks.

I figured as much, but I still really want to play it. Fallout (3 and NV) are like a second home to me, I will take any chance to spend more, new time in those worlds.

Most of this post isn't really about the new Metroid game, but about how people need to 'come around' on Nintendo games. I found it really interesting.

Yeah, this is just Wind Waker all over again. People screaming, "No! Too different!" while Nintendo knows different is what we all secretly need.

Actually, this is Metroid Prime all over again. :^)

I thought Federation Force was a bit of a headscratcher until I saw it in action. Looks like a blast with enough players. Although, even if it is in the same universe, I think slapping "Metroid" in the title is shooting themselves in the foot.

Good news and bad news.

Good News- A new Fatal Frame got announced at E3.

Bad News- The folks at Squeenix are repeatedly saying that they'll be making changes to the FFVII HD remake, because "it would be pointless to just make the same game again."

A possible change- "Cloud and his sister Lightning..." Yeah, blame Jesse Cox for that idea. But Squeenix, don't do a Lucas here. Folks like the original for a reason. Making the combat more "dynamic" won't be a good change to the folks clamoring for the revival.

Yeah. I agree. It's quite a time suck though. Played for a few hours last night before heading back to Marvel Puzzle Quest.

I found myself going through this trying to explain Shenmue to Tyrant. It's really hard to make the game sound as cool as it is. :^)

Cuphead looks like it might be the most eyepopping game of next year.  Basically think what would happen if Metal Slug starred cartoon characters from the 1920's-30's.

Yeah, if they can deliver even average gameplay it should be a hit. Apparently they are actually hand drawing everything.

I hope Mighty Number 9 is the Mega Man successor we all want. I dunno about Metroid Prime Federation force... but as long as the gameplay is fun, I'm down for it... just no stylus aiming, PLEASE!!!

So as an E3 pre-show, Nintendo talked Smash Bros. this morning.

They announced that in addition to Lucas, out today (http://hackerbot.net/fps/plus/348-call-of-duty-black-ops-3-codbo3), they'll be announcing Roy (Of Fire Emblem fame) and Ryu (Of Street Fighter Fame.)

I already spent 400$ on Amibos i cant do this much longer^^

Actually I don't think we'll have to. After the Mii Fighter 3 Pack comes out pretty soon, the only Smash Bros. characters that won't have Amiibos will be the DLC characters.

Well if we want to stay in the Smash Bros. Box, then maybe? Of course it's already leaked into other games. And then they could go with the OTHER trophy pose for every Smash Bros. character as variants...

I think I'm just going to direct deposit all of my income into Nintendo and be done with it. :^)
