Title: Penny Dreadful

I know this might be a little late, however, even though it had its finale almost two months ago, I'm still thinking Showtime's Penny Dreadful. I think it's clearly one of the best new shows to premiere this year, and it's sad that it hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. I hope more people watch it. Coupled with that, people who aren't watching it are missing out on the one of the best performances on television coming from Eva Green (right up there with Tatiana Maslany). She's so incredibly good here that it's kind of unfair, and I imagine she'll be nominated for a lot of awards next year. The origins episode which shows her upbringing is heartbreaking and a tour de force (though you could argue that the whole season is for her) If you haven't seen it I imagine it's still on Showtime On Demand, and if you don't have the channel the Blu-ray will be released on October 7. Also, the soundtrack is so good. They just released it and here are some of my favorite tracks:

It's outstanding, and I'm glad Showtime ordered two additional episodes for season 2. We need some Sembene backstory!

Aside from Eva Green being a force-of-nature, the conclusion of "Seance" hooked me.

...and a Josh Hartnett sighting! Where's he been? Much like everyone in the cast, he's great.
