It should be 1:45 because for some reason pretty much every Godzilla movie ever made is 1 hour 45 minutes. I'm not even kidding it's like an unwritten law or something.

The new one gets a pass this time but from now on it's 1:45 or bust!  >:(

Lol, am I the only one who found that funny?  :D

I would love to see King Ghidorah in the next one, that would be soooo epic!

Hedora would be pretty cool done with a big budget Hollywood CGI. But isn't Toho themselves doing a Godzilla vs. the Smoke Monster 2?

With Gareth Edwards off doing a Star Wars movie in 2016. Odds are, in my opinion that legendary and Warner Bros. will probably get another director to do the sequel. So my question to you guys is, who would you want to direct the sequel here are my picks.

Jon Favreau

Louis Leterrier

David Yates

Joe Johnston

Matt Reeves

Sam Raimi

Legendary put out a press release Thursday that said they were willing to wait for Edwards, so that he can do Godzilla 2... and 3.

I very much doubt that Edwards even has a conceptual teaser ready, since the movie's four friggin' years away. Most of the conceptual teasers from the last few years have been from projects two years away and in active development (Godzilla, Warcraft, Tron Legacy).

THR @ SDCC 2014:
Comic-Con: 'Godzilla 2' Monsters Revealed (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/comic-con-godzilla-2-monsters-721438)
Classic monsters Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah are headed to the Legendary sequel.
Quote from: Aaron Couch
Legendary's Thomas Tull kicked off the studio's Hall H panel with a little taste of the followup to Godzilla.

After introducing a video message from director Gareth Edwards, a teaser featuring stock historical footage and a voiceover from JFK revealed that there are more threats out there. The Comic-Con crowd went wild as three creature names flashed on screen, with grainy, old school footage of the Godzilla classics flashing on screen, along with their names: Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah.

Edwards, who is directing a Star Wars spinoff before tackling Godzilla 2, said in his prerecorded thank you to fans said needed "a break" from a big sci-fi franchize with lots of fanboy scrutiny.

"So I'm up here doing a small sci-fi movie," he joked.

I also don't get why they are even doing Mothra if they have Rodan. They already have a monster that can fly.

And seriously, it's a fucking MOTH! It was stupid even in the original movies. But Lurker is right about tone. At least back then by that point in the kaiju movies they were pretty silly. Nowadays, we are trying to take this seriously. It'll be even worse if they try to shoehorn in those annoying twin fairy women.

Rodan and Angilas look amazing, but not too crazy about Ghidorah with the three eye balls.  And Mothra just looks like Mothra. I wish Angilas was in the sequel, if he looked anything like this it would've been incredible!

This Hollywood exec wants to see Godzilla roar in virtual reality (http://fortune.com/2015/08/07/thomas-tull-virtual-reality/)
Quote from: John Gaudiosi
Legendary’s monster movies like the upcoming Godzilla 2 are being considered for VR projects because of the striking visuals already present in those films.

“Godzilla makes these amazing entrances, whether he’s coming over a mountain or up out of the water, and we’ve been thinking about what it would be like to have somebody standing down on the dock when Godzilla comes up out of the bay,” Tull says. “So that’s the kind of cutting-edge, sophisticated concepts you get out of us in the back room. We just do stuff that we think would be cool in VR, and hopefully our fans agree.”

'Rogue One' Director Gareth Edwards Exits 'Godzilla 2' (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/rogue-one-director-gareth-edwards-893814)
Quote from:  Borys Kit
Director Gareth Edwards has parted ways with Godzilla 2.

Edwards, who directed Legendary and Warner Bros.’s 2014 monster movie, was slated to return for the sequel after he wrapped work on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which opens December 2016.

But the filmmaker, who broke through with the low-budget 2010 movie Monsters, has left the project. Godzilla 2 is a priority for the company, which is staking out a cinematic monster universe featuring creatures such as Godzilla and King Kong, and which has a March 22, 2019 release date.

Reasons for the departure remain hazy. Some say Edwards wants a break from back-to-back big budget tentpoles while other sources tell THR that the filmmaker was feeling rushed to meet a timeline.

Legendary and Warners are now on the hunt for new filmmaker.

Nothing seems to be set in stone yet – Dougherty and Shields still need their script to get the OK from Legendary Pictures – but the important thing is that the ball has gotten rolling. The film is set to be released in 2019, after Kong: Skull Island in 2017. Then, in 2020, we are expected to get a crossover film: Godzilla vs. Kong. Giant monsters seem to be as popular as ever. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for these movie monsters.

Here are all of the stats and photos that are visible with amber clearance:

Monarch Designation: Rodan
Classification: Titanus Rodan

Within a Monarch containment facility atop the active Isla de Mona volcano, a mysterious Titan lies in pyrostasis within the restless magma. The legends speak of it as the “Fire Demon” or “The One Born of Fire”, but a simpler name echoes through the ancient temples of volcanically active regions: “Rodan”.

While much larger in size, Rodan has a skeletal structure similar to that of a Pteranodon - one of the earliest vertebrates known to have developed the power of flight. Just as Kong is king of the primates, Rodan may have once been king of the skies.

Because of the extreme temperatures within this particular containment facility, current lab equipment can’t function properly. As a result, thermal heat signatures on the creature are impossible to collect, and Monarch detection crews conducted cardiograms via aerial satellite for life sign detection and verification. Much like the volcano that incubates it, Rodan is alive but dormant.

Monarch Designation: Mothra
Classification: Titanus Mosura
Nature: Unknown
Body Height: 52ft
Wingspan: 803ft
Range: UNKNOWN

From erased Nazca lines to the hidden Temple of the Moth, the name “Mothra” is woven throughout the most secret mythologies of our planet. The folklore and fairy tales tell of a winged creature of blinding light, an angel of the clouds whose god-like luminescence has the power to shatter the sky.

"The detail in the engraving is exquisite.  This titan was deified.  Ornate detail on wings - curved lines represent a great energy flow.  Corroborates bioluminescence theory."

Ancient spirit tablets discovered in the mountain jungles of the Yunnan Province portray a giant winged alpha of the Lepidoptera order. In all of our findings, human civilization is pictographically shown in poses that imply deification of the so-called “Queen of the Monsters”, suggesting the creature was once a benign part of the natural order.

When Monarch containment crews discovered the live Titan chrysalis within the Chinese myth site, Dr. Emma Russell was quickly dispatched to closely monitor the creature that lay dormant within it. A quickening sonar pulse suggests the creature is awakening. If she ever emerges from her ancient slumber, a superspecies that once illuminated the sky will be reborn as Mothra.

Monarch Designation: Monster Zero
Classification: UNKNOWN
Nature: Bio-Electrical
Body Height: 521ft
Wingspan: UNKNOWN
Range: UNKNOWN

From the Hydra to the Rainbow Serpent, myth was the compass that led us to the resting place of the three-headed Titan. A name, unspoken through millennia of whispered nightmares. A living extinction event, named “the one who is many”. We call it Monster Zero.

At a Monarch containment facility deep in the frozen tundra of Antarctica, a three-headed winged serpent of ancient yet unknown origin lies frozen within a glacial tomb of ice. This is without question the largest superspecies ever discovered, easily dwarfing Godzilla at a height of over five-hundred feet tall.

Cranial scans reveal a divergent frontal lobe density in the brains of the three heads, denoting each head has disparate levels of cognitive functions, and possibly even independent thought.

I'm so excited for this. The Last Godzilla movie did well in hyping up the revival of the franchise.

Man, I am so hyped for this movie! I sure hope with all of the different monsters in this one that we don't have the problem of not enough Godzilla battles, like the last time.

I'll definitely have to go see this. Just as long as they don't pull more of that cutting away from the monsters just as the action gets started bullshit again.

I'm still not watching any more trailers. But a thought occurs to me.
In the last movie Bryan Cranston was the main celebrity casting, and they killed him off halfway through.
In this one the primary celebrity draw that the trailers are concentrating on is Millie Bobby Brown. Are they going to kill off the little girl in this one?

I have a feeling that she might be a stand-in for the Mothra twins (or at least one of them).
