Title: *norman groan*
Post by: eegah on May 08, 2014, 06:29:04 PM
I didn't see a thread for dread (RRRRRAAAAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!! and Sad Cafe didn't seem appropriate), so I thought I'd make one.

Knee surgery tomorrow. Uunnnnnnnnggggggghhhhh.

Ah! Mr. eegah! Here for that knee surgery, are you? Weeeellll....it seems you had a wonderful surgeon scheduled with a recovery room overlooking the ocean.

Oooo, unfortunately that doctor had to go to a convention. But we have an excellent replacement surgeon! A Doctor...Lec-tor. Yes. Also, I'm afraid that we've run out of recovery beds. But don't worry! We have a nice slab in the morgue for you to rest up on. Mount Massive Hospital hopes you have a pleasant stay.

Heading back to Mexico in 3 weeks and my brother in law that runs the Red Wings Sports Bar wants me to get him another projector with more lumens because the one I got for him around Christmas isn't bright enough..
And he wants me to get another security camera DVR setup (8 cameras in HD) cause the 4 camera setup isn't enough coverage, and the quality is not very detailed.. It actually is pretty detailed but because of all the neon lights on in the sports bar, it screws with the infrared so that in turn screws with the quality of the image ..
*Norman grunt* ::)

The doctor will tell you: No RiffTrax, MST3k, or anything vaguely humorous for at least six weeks.
Far too many knee-slappers to be had.

Better stick with that new sitcom Dawson Creek is in to be safe.

edit: also, had two packages attempt delivery today, and i have to go in opposite direction to go pick them up.

Ordered several pairs of Lacoste and Puma tennis shoes on Amazon the last couple of weeks to take to our boutique in Mexico to resell and I was waiting on one last pair of Pumas that finally arrived yesterday..
I ordered them in size 8.5 and the Amazon warehouse in Kentucky sent me a size 11 instead!
Instead of just swapping them out for the right size which would have taken another few days to process, I just requested a refund on the pair and sent them back :-[
Spent enough on these shoes already. I just hope I can sell them for a decent profit :-\

Why not just sell the size 11s and ask for some sort of compensation for the wrong size?

The general size of Mexican feet are 8.5, 9, and 9.5 so the 11s would have most likely sat for a while, plus I've already bought almost a dozen pair already so getting a full refund was satisfactory (and I need the money back in my account more than just swapping out the shoes) 8)

I'm a great uncle again, only this time it's from my Satanist nephew. The little demon spawn is called Lucien, which I just know was a compromise saving the kid from being called Lucifer.

My nephew is so bloody pedestrian, I really tried to encourage a bit more creativity but instead it's just lazy LaVeyism all the way (and not the clever bits either just the trite theatre)..

So I'm here at our boutique in Mexico and I have been trying for a few years now to get my immigration status changed from being just a tourist and each time I try, I'm missing something so I'm preparing once again to pay the immigration office a visit and need a scanned copy of my current tourist visa to present to them and the color cartridge for the printer isn't working right..
I had 3 cartridges here from the last trip and only 1 black cartridge remains and I didn't bring any more color cartridges with me :-[

Ugh. I am so goddamn sick of typing information in, only to find out I had the caps lock on (or in some cases not have it on when I needed it). Given how many useful keyboard shortcuts there are, you think that there'd be one of them to reverse the capitalization on text.

In word, at least, you can highlight text and hit Shift-F3 to cycle between all caps, all lower, and all initial-capped.

Wow. Home Renovation is the worst. We're getting vinyl flooring to replace our carpets, and it looks AWESOME, but trying to fit all of our worldly posessions into the space they're NOT working on that day is as bad as moving. Maybe worse. And all of this also serves to remind me that I'm not quite the strapping young lad who moved in to this place a decade ago.. I'm aching from head to toe, right now.

Bought a projector (to replace the one that was stolen at our Red Wings Sports Bar in Mexico) for $100 and all it needed was a lamp based on the sellers description..
Quote
This unit needs a bulb that is why Im selling it as is for parts.
It was listed under 'For parts or not working' so I ordered a new bulb and installed it.
It would run for about 15 seconds then turn off. Turns out it had a fan error code based on the troubleshooting guide and would need to be taken to a repair shop.
I asked for a partial refund (the exorbitant $30 shipping cost) be refunded to use towards repair costs and the seller refused.
I filed an ebay dispute because it was Not As Described and ebay ruled in favor of the seller because it was listed as Parts Not Working despite the deceptive description. And you are not allowed to leave feedback if you lose.

So I decide to tear into it just to see if I could find out what was causing the problem and found a loose connection at the lamp fan. Tightened it up and it appears to work fine now.
I think I got lucky on this one :o

Expected a package in the mail today. Mail was delivered around 10am (which is earlier than normal but fine with me) and no package..
Checked USPS.com for any updates and it showed 'Out for Delivery' at 8am. Kept checking their website off and on throughout the day, no change and still no package delivered..
Then I check after 5:30pm and the status changed and this message was posted:
Quote
We attempted to deliver your item at 5:08 pm on July 17, 2014 and a notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available. You may arrange redelivery by visiting http://www.usps.com/redelivery or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.
I was here then and Noone came by and no note was left ::)
They couldn't be honest and say "We apologize but your carrier forgot to deliver your package today so it will be delivered tomorrow."
Glad it wasn't something important..

Been dealing with a few goofs on ebay this week..
Had to file a non-payment claim against one buyer that has yet to pay after 5 days now, and filed another claim against a seller for non-receipt of an item..
I also received a pair of new Lacoste tennis shoes (to re-sell in our boutique) that reeked of cigarette smoke, yet the seller claims he doesn't smoke and has no idea why they would smell like that ::)

..And today, another one!
A guy from the Ukraine bid on an item despite my listing stating that I only ship within the U.S. Just now he provides me with a NJ address but I can't alter the invoice and according to ebay, the only way to do this is to cancel the transaction, have the guy in the Ukraine add the NJ address to his account and bid on it again after I relist it :-[
WTF ???

So I got this almost new tire last month and I need to find a matching tire to go with it to replace my worn front tires on our 07 Sienna (putting 2 different brand tires will mess up the front end alignment; even if they are the same size)..
It's a Walmart brand tire and brand new it costs around $70. I find 2 used ones on ebay with 80-90% tread life for $5 to $10 less than I can buy it new. ???
One of the listings has a phone # so I call to see if they would come down to $50 to make it worth buying and they flat out said no and that was their final sale price. ::)
Fuck it! Guess I'll just have to buy the brand new at Walmart :-[

I had several of those stories, and it always sucked. It might be why I never really had a single successful date that didn't start with meeting online.  Even though I met my wife at a party a year before we talked online, I was completely clueless at the party and only was smart enough to open up when she messaged me on a dating profile.

How difficult is it to give an accurate description of something you're selling on ebay ???

Bought a printer last week and it arrived today. It stated "Good Working Order, cartridges have ink" and that's it ... ::)
First off, it was really Dusty! So much so that it had problems grabbing the paper! A simple wipe down of the surface would have been sufficient!
It had obviously been sitting a while cause the ink cartridges were dried up and had dried clumps of ink stuck on the bottom of them that was flaking off inside the printer! I had to replace both of them and then clean out the clumps just to get it to print!
That earned them a Neutral feedback! :grr:

Had a client that got their marriage certificate but the bride couldn't remember her father's first name so the name she wrote was not even close and now requires statements (translated from Spanish to English) from the bride, groom, and a witness all notarized and taken to the clerk of court so they will reissue a corrected marriage license ::)

Had a lot of outgoing tax mail today including a box and our regular mail guy was apparently off today so the sub that came by said she would come back and pick everything up because it was raining and her mail truck was a block away..
After another hour or so, I see 3 mail trucks pass by and park down the street so I think one of them will be by to pick up my outgoing.. Nope! After a little pow-wow, they all took off and didn't return leaving me just 5 minutes to get to the nearest post office before it closed to drop everything off!
Thanks a lot fer frigs sakes :grr:

Is sad café completely gone? Oh well.

My closest friend in the area is about to move away. He's taking a trucking job that'll take him all over the country, so he's literally putting everything in storage and he and his girlfriend are going to live out of his rig until he can transfer to a more permanent location.

Spent the last weekend watching wrestling with him almost nonstop, except for an hour or so I helped him load up his storage unit.

There's a chance he'll eventually move back to Houston or close to it, but by then I'll have probably moved.

Just checked the USPS website of jobs I've applied for and one of the Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) Relief jobs that I had an interview for on Thursday has changed to 'Not Selected' and the other still says 'Pre-Hire List'..
They sent me for a drug test back on July 31 so why would they not hire me ???
I wonder if they would they do another round of interviews for the other RCA Relief position (including another drug test)..
Still heard nothing more about the 2 jobs I applied for back in January (1 RCA Regular Route and 1 City Carrier Assistant)   :-\
For 8 1/2 months now I've been trying to get on with the Post Office and I think it's time that I just start looking elsewhere for something temporary to get me through the rest of the year, go to Mexico Dec. 16 to Jan. 7 as planned (cause the plane tickets are already paid for and are non refundable) and try again with the Post Office next year (or some other job) :-[

I hate to hear that.  Odd that they would spend the money on a drug test, if you weren't going to be selected.
It's dis-heartening to say the least. Never have I been sent for a drug test and not hired but this is the U.S. Gov't and they are experts at wasting money I suppose :-\

That's difficult work plus I don't have any certifications that are required..
I would prefer an employer that would respect my 2 college degrees and being a business owner for a manager or supervisor position but in this day and age I'm discovering my degrees aren't worth the paper they're written on :-[
I'm just bummed out right now.

Ordered a Nvidia DMS-59 128MB PCIe video card on ebay and was sent a AGP version instead..
I go through ebay's Return Item process and I guess it filed a dispute against the seller in the process and they complain to me about why I filed a dispute against them and that they now have a mark on their record as a result.. ???
I simply clicked on 'Contact Seller' and selected 'Return an Item' and entered the reason (Not as Described) and printed a return shipping label so apparently ebay files a dispute anyway without me starting one..  :-\
I went ahead and dropped it off in the mail drop box and returned home to a message that they didn't even want the video card back and they had already refunded my money  :-[

Found a Carolina Panthers hat on ebay for a nephew in Mexico for $4 dollars and shipping was $6 dollars but they had a 'Make Offer' option so I sent an offer of $3 dollars..
They counter-offer with $4 dollars ???

My brother in law in Mexico (one of them I should say) contacted me yesterday that he wanted a couple pairs of Wrangler Jeans to bring with me when we go to Mexico in mid December..
Saw online that Walmart had them on sale for $10 each so I go this morning only to discover that was the Black Friday price but nowhere on the website did it specify this..
Had to pay the regular price of $16.77 instead.  >:(
I was wondering why it was so quiet in there this morning..

Currently on hold with Bank of America because they just started drafting a $29.95 monthly bank fee on my Business Advantage account.
This fee has been waived for the last couple years because I have a Merchant account linked to it for accepting credit/debit card transactions..
Now being transferred to a 4th representative to try and get this fee override reestablished.. ::)
EDIT: After exactly 1 hour, the 4th rep says I have to go into Bank of America and get a branch manager to call merchant services to get them to reset my account properly!
WTF?? :grr:

Had a set of used 16 inch tires off our minivan on Craigslist for the last few months.. They had around 25% tread life left on them. Was asking $40 for the set of 4 and this guy contacts me yesterday and offered $25 dollars so I agreed.
He just came by to pick them up and then complained cause there was water in them.. ??? I replied 'Well we've had a lot of rain here the last few days and I had no place to keep them dry'..
So we spent some 10 minutes getting most the water out of them just so he could put them in his minivan ::)
Maybe if he had said something in the email that he was going to be putting them in a minivan then I probably would have gotten the water out of them before he arrived :-\

As you may know, I'm currently in Acapulco Mexico with my wife as she gets treatment for cancer and we are staying at her cousin's condo that is nearby the cancer hospital which is located on the side of a mountain overlooking Acapulco bay..
The family in return for letting her stay here is covering her food, paying her power bill, etc, and I also help by taking out the trash, going to buy groceries, Walk down the mountain to the laundry service to get clothes and bed sheets done, and buy big bottles of filtered water but I need transportation to take these bottles of water to go to the nearest OXXO convenient store and the cousin used to give me a ride but now no longer has the time so she says..
Also, the cousin's family has been dropping by unannounced and helping themselves to our food so yesterday we had to go back to the grocery store and buy more supplies to replace what was eaten by them a couple days prior, and her cousin says to pick up a big bottle of water while we're out.. Taxi rides are around $50 Pesos one way and a lot of them are VW bugs so there's not much room for a bunch of groceries let alone a big bottle of water so I said we could go to the OXXO when we get back but when we returned, she went out clubbing instead.
Just asked her today if she could take me to the OXXO and she said she was busy all day and also had plans to meet up with her 'sugar daddy' so I'm not going to worry about getting the water. Nice to know what she considers a priority ::)

My sole purpose is to assist my wife during her cancer treatment. I will help out around here when needed but if she can't give me a ride to bring back 2 or 3 big bottles of water then I'm not going to worry about them then.. >:(

I'll apparently get paid for my mileage today but if I'm selected, they only pay $12 dollars a day..

Just got back from voting for local mayor and yet again the elderly reps at the table could not find my name on their list.. For 21 years this has been going on and despite trying to show them my voter registration card to look up my info in their system, they would rather use my drivers license instead and it never comes up when they use it!
 :grr:
I even went to the election board in the county court house trying to get this issue fixed once and for all and this morning was the test.. It failed miserably!
After about 15 minutes of searching, they finally found my name in their system, then they couldn't decide whether I voted under Ballot #2 or Ballot #4! That took another 5 minutes to figure out ::)

All I know is I wasn't voting for one particular candidate who's an attorney because my late wife and I had issues with him screwing us out of thousands of dollars in translation services for of our 2 Spanish speaking clients we refereed to him back in the 2000s for workers comp cases and all we got for each was $100 dollar referral fees!!

Jesus Christ. I don't know about most other people but i really try and take care of my DVD's. I will tell you that in my opinion it takes some serious mishandling in order to damage a dvd to that level to where the disc is actually cracked. Maybe they need to pad the envelopes better or something.

Netflix seems to be getting away from DVDs altogether little by little so I doubt they'll do that and that's another reason I'm trying to send them back out asap but when this happens, it slows my turnaround time and gnaws at me :-[
