Title: 20 Questions: Special Rules Edition
Post by: Pak-Man on March 16, 2007, 09:48:00 PM
When I started the original 20 questions practice thread, I did so with the intent at making us better. Lately, the Mods have been making the game tougher by setting special conditions on the questions (Every question must rhyme, every question must be four words, etc.).As they improve, we need to improve, so I'm opening this thread for 20 questions games with special rules. The regular 20 questions games can continue, of course. This is for those who want a more challenging game.

I'm gonna head for bed and don't feel like starting a game I can't host, so the first person to say, "I'm thinking of a movie" gets to start the game and pick a special rule/special rules. :^)

I'm thinking of a movie. Yar, ask all ye questions in pirate parlance, me buckos.

Arr, and might it contain a series of pictures that, when they be moved 'cross the eye all quick-like, might create the illusion of motion?

We be standin' roundabout Davy Jones' locker, eatin' our daily rations of a boiled octopus tentacle and a pint of rum,  lookin' back upon queries 7 and 11 and I presumes to think this may be a feature of a foreign tongue, doubled up into the King's English to be seen in the New World so I begins ta suspect this might be what is called sword-and-sandal sinema.  I also suspect we be mightily screwed in answering this in a mere score of questions.

As fun as this is, I think the pirate-speak has made this harder than it should be, so I'll translate the more salient details. Here's what you know:
- not horror
- not science fiction
- comedy
- released between 1960-1964
- not filmed in the US, but was an American production
- not set on the high seas
- not animated
- primarily in English
- not made by Disney
- in color
- does not feature Charlton Heston
- the stars are dead
- not the Pink Panther
- not directed by Stanley Kubrick

A clever IMDb power search should yield your answer. I'll also tell you that comedy is not its primary genre.

I was born in '81 myself, but I love Cary Grant and Hitchcock movies, and Charade is the best fake Hitchcock movie ever made. My Criterion DVD has been played many times. Charade's so much fun that when they remade it as The Truth About Charlie, they put the original on the DVD as a bonus feature.

Ok i am thinking of a movie!!

the special rules are that all questions must be phrased in EBONICS

for those who do not know  EBONICS  is basically "ghetto talk"

For example:  "Yo is dis movie  made before da 80s?"
or
"Yo  don't even tell me dis movie be tripping b4 1970?"

PLEASE NO RACIST REMARKS AND YES I  CAN MAKE THIS SPECIAL RULE CUZ I GREW UP IN DIRTY JERS   YA HEARD YO!!!

and dont bother using spell check lol

To sum up for the less urban among us:

Movie is pre-1990's.
Movie is not from the 1970's.
Movie does not have a female lead. But it does have a really good male lead.
Movie is not a horror flick.
Movie does not contain, "Hollywood Blow-up Production Technique". aka "Bruckheimerization"
Movie contains strange characters to those indulging in psychotropic drugs.

Hint: Movie is not in the IMDB Top 50 for 1980-1989.

Iz dis movie considerated a "cult flick" fo shizzle?

You need to work on your ebonics translating skeelz, homeslice.

Movie is not from the 1970's.
Not from before the '70s.

Point 1 I agree. Please refer to Shark's clarification on this.

Point 2... I thought a "shorty" was like a male "homey". "Shorty" is bizitches in da crib?
Title: Re: 20 Questions: Special Rules Edition
Post by: Sharktopus on March 28, 2007, 08:58:48 PM
According to the Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shorty):

Quote
1. Affectionate term for a girlfriend, attractive female or concubine.

2. Originally used to mean a young man, new to the game. By new to the game, I don't mean he just meant a rapper, but he just started selling crack, just started rapping, whatever, but even simpler it was a term used to mean just a person much younger than you.

Now, commercial rappers have turned the meaning upside down to mean a 'fine female', apparently.

Like much rap lingo, the term is up to interpretation, but since the question was regarding a "b*tch-azz ho," I think it's safe to assume NJMSTie meant a woman. I'm sure he'll clarify it when he's back.

Yeah. That's up for interpretation. I always thought a "shorty" was a brother "short" on the gangsta ladder. We'll let Jersey clear it up.  ;)

Anyway, once I knew the movie had puppets, the field was narrowed significantly.
