Turns out hilarious re-imaginings of classic Hitchcock movies aren’t just for James Nguyen! They even dug up the original Norman Bates (aka, Anthony Perkins, you may know him from his other work in just kidding, obviously, just kidding) and his momma (quite literally) for this one! Not to mention the Motel and roadside homestead, and even the iconic shower scene! Because, when you see a timeless thriller beloved by millions, the thing you want most is to follow it with a sequel 22 years later that pays homage by just whizzing all over it in every way possible.

Norman gets released home to his family crime scene with some help from psychiatrist Robert Loggia, who’s tough and cool as always, but utterly inept as a psychiatrist. Despite the fact that Norman’s killing spree would’ve made national news, with college kids wearing ironic t-shirts of him in his mother’s dress by now, very few folks in his sleepy hometown seem to remember him at all. And those that do are eager to give him a job, or, in the case of Meg Tilly, go back to his home and spend the night, just for funsies. Only Dennis Franz (and, presumably, his bare bottom) is suspicious of the man who IS STILL OBVIOUSLY INSANE. But hey, who knows, maybe Norman’s fine now? JUST KIDDING, OBVIOUSLY, JUST KIDDING, HE’S STILL NUTS AND TELLS THEM SO HIMSELF MULTIPLE TIMES.

Join Mike, Bill, and Kevin for Psycho II, and turn the crank on Hitchcock’s grave one more time!

This is an interesting choice for a Rifftrax VOD.  I think it might be the highest profile film to get a VOD - it was successful enough to garner two additional sequels.  And it really isn't a bad film at all with some good performances, especially from Perkins, though the ending falls apart.  That doesn't mean it won't make for a good Rifftrax, though - Psycho casts such a powerful shadow in our pop culture that there should be plenty of potential jokes.

Yeah Dr, I agree.  This HAS to be the biggest one that they have put on VOD in a long time, if not ever.

I remember watching this one and just being how disappointed that they had the cast to make a good movie, and it really kind of was stupid.  But, this makes for GREAT riffing land to be in.

I cannot wait for this one to finish downloading.

What's the relationship between the girl in this movie and Mullet-Girl in "Stanger Calls Back?"  They look like they can be sisters!

I am stunned that Psycho II was that popular. It is quite a mess.

It really is, there's a lot going on here that doesn't make sense and it all really falls apart by the end of the movie.  For a while there I feeling sorry for, if not rooting for, Norman Bates because his time in the institution obviously was beneficial to him enough to get him released (Those who succeed in getting the "Insanity Defense" many times can spend more time in the mental institution than they would have in prison) and once back in private life people conspire to drive him crazy again... And they succeed?!  Strange.  The "turn around" on the girl also was very odd and seemed out of place.

Strange, strange movie.  Pretty good riff, though.

Buying now. I never saw the first Psycho. Will I need to in order to understand what the hell is going on?

The first Psycho was a classic film that had everything right about it.

The second one........um, no.

All you need to know about the first one the second one explains right away.  Watch the original one later just to watch what a good movie looks like.

I also had no idea this came out YESTERDAY! It's my own fault. I guess that's what I get for missing ONE DAY... Oh well. Like somebody said a couple weeks ago, VODs don't expire if you don't watch them right away.

I saw it at the drive-in with friends.  We hated it. Should be a good riff. Whatever happened to Meg Tilly?

She mostly retired (money must be nice) about 20 years ago and only does stuff REALLY rarely.

Geez, how many horror movies have characters named "Loomis?!"
Title: Re: New VOD "Psycho II" Now Available!!!

Every horror movie that has a character named Loomis is in "homage" to the original Psycho, where the boyfriend's name is Sam Loomis (out of the book, Psycho)....

It's where it all started.

Look, up in the sky! It's "Useless Trivia Man!"  ;)

That's actually pretty interesting, never really made that connection.

From what I can remember too, the movie Halloween has quite a few Psycho references in the naming, as well as other little bits. Some of the plot/story elements are very similar to some of the books too (specifically the 2nd book)... and the town square itself is almost exactly as described in the first Psycho book.

There's some more useless trivia for ya!! :D  .... I'm full of it! (pun intended)

Or as my sister (who thinks MST and Rifftrax are dumb) said to me on Xmas day last year: "You still remember all that shit?!"

Man, I hope so

I CANNOT EFFING WAIT TO SEE THIS!!! I have read both the Robert Bloch novels (Psycho and Psycho II (yes, Bloch went there.)), seen all the flicks (except for the remake. I will never forgive Anne Heche for breaking the heart of Dory the Fish), the making-ofs, read both bios of Ed Gein, who inspired the whole thing, and even seen the house (the film film-set house. The neighbors burned the Gein Farmhouse to the ground shortly after the trial. Which annoys me every time I watch Giant Spider Invasion, ("saved a lot, buying the old Gein place!"), but I'm a total weirdo, so there's that) on the Universal studios tram tour, and now, the MST/Rifftrax Gang have done this!!!

Read the third Psycho novel (Psycho House, by Bloch), and then we'll talk.

It's ON!

I just realized that I have never seen an Alfred Hitchcock movie, but I have seen two movies that desecrate them via RiffTrax.

See Vertigo. Or, if you really want to fully despise Nguyen the way he ought to be despised, see The Birds. Even if horror or Hitchcock aren't your thing, Tippi Hedren in a seafoam-green pencil skirt will be.

Never knew there was a third.  I was pretty disapointed in the second book, but I was pretty young when I read it.

The third is better than the second IMO... and I think that's the one the kinda pokes fun at the movie industry.
