What can I say about this video, except, "Holy crap."
[yt=425,350]sxxOyGK1pMk[/yt]
Neal Schon at his Joe Piscopo-est! EXTREME Close-Up of Steve Perry's lips! David Bowie (or...possibly a woman, hard to say)! STREET WHARF!
If music videos ever made their way into the riffing realm, this one would have to be on the list.

I'm a big Journey fan, but this vid is so darn funny!!
Air instruments? Who's crummy idea was that??

I have no idea, but the part where Jonathan Cain is next to Steve Perry and air-keyboarding, he kind of looks like he's doing a panther move.

God damn, videos used to be awesome!
I remember this one vividly. I believe the theory behind it was:
1. Band is seen in video playing air instruments
2. Band cultivates image that they don't take themselves too seriously
3. Band gets incrementally more groupie tail after shows in Wichita
You have to admit, no one has ever rocked a mullet, before or since, like Steve Perry.

Or rocked a sleeveless, black t-shirt with a totally awesome purple checker pattern!

He desperately needs the checkerboard slip-on Vans to complete the image. But I guess there is such a thing as being too gnarly.

Steve Perry could also rock the "thin moustache--wait! I'm shaving it IN THE VIDEO!!" look.

Everybody remembers "Separate Ways", but for my money the best/worst Journey video was "After The Fall"

Overly angst ridden members of the band help poor Steve Perry over his poor love life. And they have coffee!

I believe this gentleman has something to say about that:

How do you guys insert the Youtube videos directly into your posts? I'd love to be able to do that.
Use the little YouTube button in the posting toolbar. Then just insert the video's ID between the brackets. (The ID is the last part of the URL when you watch a video at YouTube, the part that comes right after "v=". In the case of your After the Fall video, it's "OnNVBnVhSd4".)

Thanks. That was the only thing I didn't try. ( i saw the youtube button, but wasn't sure how to use it!)

This video makes me wonder a lot of things. Like, why would you put a chair in the middle of the room, and have it facing a bare wall? Is Steve's tv on backorder? Is that why he's so depressed?
Also, why are there random puffs of smoke blowing in whenever anyone falls past their window? Do they have a dragon out there?

Will the wonders of the concept video never cease?

Whenever my partner wants to rankle our twenty-something roommate, she plays this song at ear-splitting volume. :)

Back in the day, Seperate Ways was a rockin' video. Still love Journey, but damn, that video now ranks up there with the cheesiest of them.

It will NEVER be as cheesy as the video for Billy Squier's "Rock Me Tonite."

LOL! Totally forgot about "Rock Me Tonite." Another music video I totally loved back in the day. Billy Squier was rockin' his cut-off pink shirt (if I remember correctly), and another case of "air drumming." I don't know if Seperate Ways is that far behind in terms of cheese.

Squier claims the video "ruined" his career.

The Beavis and Butthead riff on "Separate Ways" is perhaps my favorite one of their commentaries. Especially the Partridge Family dig. Based on that alone I have a pretty full resevoir of patience for this particular Journey video.

I used to have the LP this was from.
And ironically enough, this is exactly what I do when I get up in the morning.

:o Oh good Jesus, it's worse than I remember. Billy forgot to take his meds before the video shoot.

He also apparently forgot to buy his bedroom furniture back from Guido the Killer Pimp.

No joke. Apparently all he needed was a satin bed, a couple shirts, and he was good to go.

Ha! Nice Flashdance shirt, Billy.
